Hey thanks for the love! :) The defense was actually pretty solid haha. The sharks had Buium, Mukhamadullin, and some highly-drafted prospects throughout the years. Goaltending was usually a high enough overall goalie, too, as Askarov spent some time in San Jose shortly after the current tandem left, followed by other generated goalies. I would've loved to have looked at the whole team each season and I have in other career sims in the past but it likely would've made the video over an hour 😭 All that to say, I fully agree that the team record was extremely confusing all things considered 😂 Thanks again and talk soon!
The EA sim is so bad, how players keep potential when performing poorly. And don't get me started on players like mcdavid getting high 80 points and weird players having insane seasons out of nowhere. My only wish for NHL 25 is to have good sims where players put up accurate points like Mcdavid and Matthews with respectable save pct for goalies.

31:06 speaking of weird hitting stats... had a Flames sim a while back.... Gaudreau led the post season hits category at nearly 100 hits by the end of the post season... next closest guy was like 60 and it was an actual power forward or grinder, cant remember who though. I was super confused by that stat

Through 18 years Celebrini is a part of 5 playoff series (2 being swept, 1 sweeping, 1 losing in 6 to eventual cup-winners...SJS, 1 losing in 5 to COL). 10 pts in 23 games........Busted player. Busted game. Let's blame it on the coach and get started on Easton COWAN!!!! 🤭

It could be really bad coaching. The reason why players are doing so much worse on the sharks than other teams could be because on other teams a bad coach would be fired a lot earlier whereas on the sharks you are technically controlling the team but not changing anything so the bad coach doesn't get fired and players keep having bad stats.
Coaching must've been involved but I wasn't controlling the Sharks! I was running the save file as an eastern conference team so the Sharks would've been dealing with their own coaching issues
All you gotta do is take control of any other team than the one you're following (but technically you could take the same one, I just prefer this way), set everything to auto, and simulate! I don't do any managing whatsoever, just pure simulation of each season.
Haha I wonder if it has something to do with him being a created player at all but I'm certain it's bad luck with the coaching. We'll see if that carries over into NHL 25!
It’s because he’s a created player. Created players never grow/produce at a high pace compared to organic players. Every created prospect I’ve added has never produced at the rate that players added by EA do.
I see what you're saying and I've experienced the same but it's debatable! For example, Michkov was also a created player and, in the background of this sim, he won multiple Hart trophies with multiple 120+ point seasons in Philly. On top of that, Celebrini wasn't the only one floundering in San Jose. That being said, I do 100% believe that, once he's in the game, if I were to run the sim again, the results would be much better. Thanks for watching! :)

I’ve had sims where Jack Hughes, Logan Cooley, and other stars like that consistently lead the league in hits.
Macklin Celebrini will end up scoring 90+ points in a season once he develops

I wouldn't be surprised for some seasons, but the AI often fires coaches so it must've been a revolving door of C-rated guys 😭

For Matthews in the playoffs sure, but I think the bigger issue was San Jose consistently being a bottom 5 team with a high overall core of players
