Reminded me of Suva in 1972. There was a P & O cruise ship in Port. The army band played on the wharf as the boat sailed and the trombone players turned to face the sheds which the sound bounced off, hit the side of the ship and reverberated between. Awesome..then later the same day the Fijian Police paraded the main st down to the fair ground as they were taking their turn as guards at the Governor Generals residence. It was a similar scene
Fiji is the most happy and loving place I’ve ever been. I feel so blessed to be able to call Fiji home. Living in America has its perks but living in Fiji has my heart! You gotta be kidding me, Fiji's police is corrupt as corrupt can be. So many instances where Indians would approach the police to file reports only for them to be of no help. I have seen some very shady stuff going on. Indians literally account for most of Fiji's economy yet are treated like 2nd class citizens. So glad i don't live there anymore.
You don't know what are you talking about...just watching a simple video of fijian police dancing now you are comparing them with USA police....you are correct because dancing is what these fijian police is good for because criminals are smarter than them
Hello good people, I am from Suriname where Indians live for more than 150 years. We integrated with other cultures and our main language is Dutch but also spoken Bhojpuri, Hindi and also Sanskrit (mostly by pandits) Seeing you is like i'm in Suriname but your culture is fun too. I will definitely visit Fiji one day, and please you are welcome in Suriname, aao bhaiyo aur behno
I had great and fond memories of my time in Fiji many years back. From my own experience I have great respect for these two groups of Fijians living in harmony together. Believe me, it has everything to do with great parenting. Their kids grew up with the guidance of their parents to respect everyone and so now that they are adults they are passing on that teaching to their kids. Parents and leaders from around the world should visit Fiji to learn something that they can take back home. To all Fijians living in Fiji and abroad, I would like to greet you with the words I learned from my Fijian friends (from both groups of course!) when I was studying in Fiji so many years ago: “Bula vinaka” and “Namaste”.
Baraniko Tabuanaba - You must have lived on some other alternate reality. Fiji has the Native Fijians and then the Indian Fijians. Neither of these groups have got along since the beginning of Fiji. Mostly the native Fijians repeatedly insulting, assaulting and telling the Indians to go back to their own country. Fiji's economy was run on the Indians back while we were persecuted by the natives. Today we see a world where India is the 4th most powerful nation on earth, If only the Fijians would have fucked off and let the Indians run Fiji. I don't think any nation has anything to learn from Fiji. I think every Indian in Fiji should leave for New Zealand, Australia, Canada, USA where Indians truly prosper and drive expensive cars and own million dollar homes.
I do not live in alternate reality. I was practically there in Fiji for several years and I had friends who were either indigenous Fijians or Fijian Indians. They did go along together in what I would classify as good mutual relationships and they pretty much left each other in peace. I did notice when I went to use the restroom in the school library that I started seeing those nasty racist graffitis. I knew it was not written by all the Fijians from both groups, they were more written by a few who refused to identify themselves, just like you are not doing it right now! Reading your comment, I gather you are a Fiji Indian who is currently living in Fiji or (more likely) is now living abroad either in Australia, NZ, or Canada. Now answer me this question: if the indigenous Fijians were not converted to Christianity and kept to their ancient ways, would your people who landed on their shores those many years ago, be able to survive then? Won’t you agree that now you see them as very polite and law abiding as opposed to being warlike? Sure, there might be some who are not, but you have those kinds of people in every country of the world. Also, based on my observation, the Fijian Indians are not the same as those in continental India. The ones in Fiji are not aggressive and they seem to focus their energy on pursuing academic success. Now, my next question to you: did your parents spent their time teaching you to be aggressive or to be successful in school? If most Fijian Indians were in fear of their lives due physical harassment from the indigenous population, they would have raised their offsprings very differently. War produces warriors and peace produces prosperity and a harmonious society. You do owe your “millionaire” status to Fiji, the nation, and her people’s way of life. I know for a fact that tourists just love the way everyone is living in harmony together in Fiji. The beauty of Fiji to tourists is not only from the beautiful beaches and resorts, but more importantly, from the people who call that country home. The Fiji Police band dancing happily in this parade looks really genuine and I doubt you will see that duplicated anywhere else in the world. There is a lot a tourist will learn during his or her stay in Fiji, especially from this kind of parade. In conclusion, you do use a lot of vulgar terms but I will ignore them. Peace to you!
