    This is by far one of the best review videos I seen. I own a low rider st and have literally the same set up you have. One has to be realistic with what the bike can do. It is a cruiser after all jejeje but I do love to surprise sport bikes and beat them on the highway
    Cheers mate thanks for the video

    Awesome information mate. Exactly what I was looking for as a 475 cam fence sitter. I would love the extra poke but would be gutted to ruin the "relaxed cruising" characteristics of my M8 so this was really helpful. Thanks again

      Thanks for watching and your comments, another video on the way soon. I’ve fitted a lollipop baffle, which has improved torque and helped with the noise, which was a bit much, I’m getting it dyno’d again soon, but if it hasn’t improved enough I’ll swap it out, for either a Redshift 468 or Screaming Eagle 462 power cam.

    I did a stage 1 on my Harley trike and it was pretty sweet, especially sounding. Later on I upgraded the stereo and did a stage 2 with a Jims 918 cam and it was a BEAST with 103HP and 135TQ at the wheel ... on a Trike, that was insane. I can easily do 120mph and get the front wheel up off the ground in the first 2 gears. But like you mentioned, the noise was pretty harsh. Totally drowning out the radio at just cruising speed. I actually took out the "Zombie" baffles and put in "Mid" baffles and that made the sound MUCH better, but I lose 4HP and 5TQ. Some days I miss it, most I don't. There is ALWAYS a balancing act.

      Hi Kevin, thanks for watching and your kind comments, the 475 is a big change, so I understand why some people don’t upgrade, I haven’t made my mind up yet, I may still go for something a little less extreme, I’m hoping to try a bike fitted with a Zippers redshift 468, as I’m told they’re slightly down on HP, but strong on torque and a little smoother to ride at cruising speeds, hopefully I’ll get a body out on that asap!

    Great Video! I am interested in what the modifications did to your fuel economy? I have an Ultra Limited and I am interested in putting in either an S&S 475 cam or a Wood 22XE cam. My only hesitation is that I take a couple of long touring trips with my riding buddies. Their bikes are all stock, and they like to go up to 200 miles before stopping for fuel. I had a friend years ago that put a cam into his 2008 Ultra, and his fuel milage went way down. We were having to stop every 150 miles to keep his bike running. So, this is where my concerns come from. What was your milage stock and what is it now with the 475. Again, great video and thanks in advance for your comment on fuel consumption!!!

    Nice video! I have the same issue / feelings about the 475. I had a nice smooth Street Glide. Then wanted more power and went with the S&S 475. Definitely doesn't cruise in low speeds anymore smoothly. Like going slow through a crowd or parking lot - you can tell it just jerks and wants to go! It seems to ride a bit rougher but not in a bad way. Just more power. I also had a 2:1 exhaust that I loved. But after the cam install, it changed it so much that I no longer like the exhaust sound. I ended up selling it and going to true duals for now until I can figure out something else. It just made it WAY to loud and obnoxious. Overall I am "okay/happy" with it. I wouldn't say "I love it" but oh well. Maybe this is when I need 2 bikes. 1 performance and 1 for the touring. :)

    • @sweetrides8418
      @sweetrides8418  26 дней назад

      Hi, thanks for watching and for your comments. I'm just making a new video on the subject, and I've managed to solve the problem !!!!
      One the cam was fitted, initially I was more concerned with the noise it was making, so I fitted a lollipop baffle, real easy install and it did make a nicer noise, just about acceptable volume too. However I then had two issues, firstly everyone that followed me on a ride said that my bike stank of petrol, and secondly that it just didn't want to cruise at 25 - 35 mph in either 3rd or 4th gear.
      I tried riding in different ways and gave myself time to get used to the cam, but nothing worked, I had almost resigned myself to have to have another cam fitted, when I thought I would take it back to the dyno for one last try.
      Luckily the guys that did the original tune said I could take it back if I had any issues.
      So on the first dyno the fuel mixture was lean, however now I have fitted the baffle it has created back pressure, which can help with torque but was now making the bike run rich (as I expected). I explained what my issues were and they concentrated their efforts on lower speeds and revs between 1500-3000. They had the bike for two hours and said there was good news and bad news, bad news the bike had lost 12 HP and 10 FP TQ, however it had really smoothed out the map. I took it for a test ride and it was exactly what I had wanted from the start, it feels just as powerful but much smoother at lower revs. I really opened it up on my 40 mile ride home and it felt great.
      I had watched videos on RUclips that talked about how the 475 cam doesn't like shorter 2 into 1 pipes, but I had either dismissed or ignored the advice, however the lollipop baffle created back pressure in the same way a longer exhaust would and appears to solve or bypass the problem.
      Anyway hopefully that video will be out soon.

    The 475 is nasty in low revs i had the same issue and didnt enjoy it for everyday relaxed riding either
    Some people will argue you shouldnt have cammed it then but it is very possible to have a cam and not have to deal with that
    Its a known thing, not nice around roundabouts and if your cruising you now need to be a gear lower than before in higher revs using more fuel and being noisier to have it riding smooth… pain in the ass
    Its great at wide open throttle but not cruise friendly
    Youve already got all the other parts if you get over it just swap it to a cyclerama 483 or star 30/30 cam and it will ride much better
    They are close to what you have but will be smoother in the bottom
    Or if you really favour bottom end torque early the cyclerama 480 might suit you better but will sacrifice a tad off the top end compared to the 483
    Plenty of vids around this on youtube
    Exhaust can affect this majorly and create torque dips aswell but the exhaust you have is a great option so shouldnt be an issue
    Welcome to the world of spending thousands on harleys, be careful its addictive 😂

    Change the shocks. Change the pads for more bite. Change the tires to the Metzeler tires used in bagger racing. Adjust ride height on rear. On your corners at low speed with a cam in a Harley it is common to half clutch to take the chop out when riding. Just get used to it and you will not go back to a smooth cam. If you do want a smother cam with the same power go with the star 30/30.

    If the exhaust was longer, you would get a small jump in horsepower and torque, 9:07 plus the noise level for the driver is considerably less.
    Speaking from experience.

    There’s so many better cams out there now. That cam is over rated. Star 30-30
    Cycle rams 483 and 485 are all better. Shop 67 cam is also a heavy hitter

    Nice, I'd recommend a different header for a bit more down low streetable torque and throttle response. Short length primary headers kill power below 3500 rpm, they're ok if you spend the majority of time in the upper registers of the rpm range but for normal street riding, long tube primary headers fit the bill. P.S. It's difficult to draw direct conclusions/comparisons with dyno numbers from H.D. and the aftermarket, Harley tends to show dyno numbers with restrictive cat pipes, lean fuel mixtures and retarded ignition timing (tuning)that are environmentally friendly whereas the aftermarket tends to show numbers with performance tuning and all the performance goodies added to gain as much power as they can to promote their products, not a real apple to apple comparison. Sweet bike btw.

      Hi, that's really helpful thanks, Do you have any experience of the Zippers 468 cam, I've had a few people recommend it as being a little easier to live with.

    • @trekbsg
      @trekbsg 6 месяцев назад

      @@sweetrides8418 The Redshift 468 is a "torque cam" much in the same way as the SE-447 and S&S 465 cams are, the stock 117 cam isn't that far off of the SE-447 cam specs wise, which is why Harley doesn't recommend it for the 117, there wouldn't be much of a performance gain. Before you decide to switch cams, I'd really recommend you switch to long tube primary headers and have the bike re-tuned/dyno'd, the S&S 475 cam is a good street "power" cam but like most other performance parts, they need to matched together to work in concert with each other, putting a cam designed to make power in a specific rpm range and another part optimized to make power in another rpm range is where power is lost. Good luck & ride safe.
