      I doubt that any resistence within the ranks of the C of E will prevail. Welby and his staff have ensured the evangelicals appointed as Bishop are well-behaved pussycats. The liberal establishment controls the mechanisms of the C of E. What you do not see are the clergy, persecuted by Bishops, for speaking out for Biblical truth 'cos it is all hushed up by lawyers and settlements. It looks polite and well mannered on the outside, but the reality is they fight very dirty. As a result, I and others have left/are leaving the C of E for an expression of Anglicanism in Britain led by properly ordained Bishops who are untainted by this mess. Look up ACE Anglican Convocation in Europe and AMIE Anglican Mission in England. They are forming new congregations even as we speak. I'm sure they might be able to steer you in the right direction.

    1. As punishment for her crime of standing and silently praying in public, I'm surprised Isabel Vaughan-Spruce wasn't given the appropriately fitting sentence of serving some time as a living Christmas tree, I'm but glad she was acquitted none-the-less.
    2. Asbury is the cry of the heart of young people for God to bless them with His love, healing and understanding. I think this phenomenon came about in response to all of the chaos and madness that they are exposed to in the world from an ever-present media and in their daily lives. May it produce a lasting fruit and communion for all those involved.

    I believe we already are seeing the Asbury revival hitting the ACNA where I am as a group of conservative Methodists left the UMC and joined with us, a small mission work in the diocese of the south. Fr George you just said the most important thing I’ve heard about Asbury. The fact that people are speaking in tongues in a group setting while in the same setting the RC’s are worshipping God in the consecrated host shown in a Monstrance. God must be smiling! The wind is blowing a s the Holy Spirit in our youth. More power to our triune God! Revival is much needed in our times. I experienced some of this at the Dallas Church of the Resurrection in the 70’s revival. People loved and cared for each other!!! We need to pray for this event. 😊

    We need election (by church members) not selection (by a self-serving cabal of the chosen few) for all episcopal positions. The bullying and browbeating from the bishops is shameful; but will the average cleric and parishioner have the courage to stand up and be counted or simply remain 'nice' and obsequiously obedient?

    • @johnhudghton3535
      @johnhudghton3535 Год назад +4

      Some Bishops and senior staff as I discovered to my cost, are extremely nasty and fight in a very dirty manner. Bullied was far too mild for what I endured. I paid the price. Two years on, recovering well, ministering outside of the C of E. You may not see what happens to the persecuted by senior staff because it all gets covered up by settlements , solicitors and Non Disclosure Agreements - however I know and can assure you, there is a lot of it about!

      @campbellpaget453 Год назад +2

      @@johnhudghton3535 John, I am so sorry this has been your experience, and it is indeed all too common. What I don't fully understand - though I have my suspicions - is how they can continue to bully or allow bullying and then try to sweep it under the carpet. My principal discovery and argument would be that they have not understood or prefer not to understand what genuine spiritual leadership requires of them. I think perhaps 'for the sake of appearances' and 'collegiate solidarity' are two reasons which make my point perfectly!

    C of E, R.I.P.

  • @stevecass7575
    @stevecass7575 Год назад +2

    It's very simple really. Here in the UK the C of E has, over the last few decades, been taken over by a politicised technocratic managerial class (Welby is an oil company man) who put their personal secular political views ahead of scripture. The leadership of the C of E is, contrary to Christ's teaching, arrogant in the extreme and don't seem to care that the changes over the last 50 or 60 years that they call 'progress' has led to (in the UK) a 90% reduction in regular attendance; an average age of regular attendee of 60+; and for the first time, less than 50% putting 'Christian' down in the religion part of the State 10 yearly census. Shame on Welby but also shame on those who have allowed this politicised secular-loving technocratic managerial attitude to take over.

  • @julianbrown7976
    @julianbrown7976 Год назад +5

    If the secularizing bishops had any integrity, they would openly declare that they can no longer ascribe to the christian faith and simply leave it. This would cost them their paycheck of course, which explains why they have decided instead to change church teachings to their own taste.

    I don't understand why the prime minister is at all involved in appointing the Archbishop of Canterbury, when that office might be held by someone who is not even a Christian. The prime minister is not the one who holds the title Defender of the Faith. There is a very real flaw in a system where the monarch is head of the church but only reigns rather than ruling. Seems like it's time to separate church and state.

The trajectory based on history is the CofE will go the way of the USA, Canada and others. But we know that God is in charge. The leaders in the church need to realize Christianity is not a democracy as there is only one vote, God's. So believe in God and stop worshipping themselves and other people.

    I am bold to assert, that there never was any considerable change wrought in the mind or conversation of any person, by any thing of a religious nature that ever he read, heard, or saw, who had not his affections moved. Never was a natural man engaged earnestly to seek his salvation; never were any such brought to cry after wisdom, and lift up their voice for understanding, and to wrestle with God in prayer for mercy; and never was one humbled, and brought to the foot of God, from any thing that ever he heard or imagined of his own unworthiness and deservings of God’s displeasure; nor was ever one induced to fly for refuge unto Christ, while his heart remained unaffected. Nor was there ever a saint awakened out of a cold, lifeless frame, or recovered from a declining state in religion, and brought back from a lamentable departure from God, without having his heart affected. And, in a word, there never was any thing considerable brought to pass in the heart or life of any man living, by the things of religion, that had not his heart deeply affected by those things. From Jonathan Edwards Treatise on the Religious Affections.

Respectfully, this is the start of the same line of thought that has brought the C of E to this point. Gavin used a term some time ago on AU, it was NUCLEAR HOLINESS, a term that has stuck with me and added clarification to my understanding of God's word and plan. Even this level of compromise is serious and is to be avoided.

    Ever see the two kid, one male kid and one female kid family? Ever see the three kid two older children of the same sex and the third one after that, so they could get the boy or girl and then "give-up?" Mostly this is due contraception, children have become a thing to have, and the ones YOU choose. God is merely the pizza shop that you call for an order to fulfill your desires. I would be loath to be the third child who only exists because they did not get what they wanted the first 2 times. Imagine the reality of that very real situation and the message in conveys to ALL the children in that family. The message is real, it is tacit, and it says, your value is quite limited to us, you are a thing.
    As a Catholic I can assure you that the lunacy relative to sexual identity is not limited merely to the Anglican Church. In my estimation the problem stems from, among many other things, the use of contraception in marriage, which has changed the perception of the purpose of sexual relations. Extremely wide-spread and normalized fornication is the reality of most of the world, absolutely. That is why abortion is a big political football. Pope Paul VI in his encyclical laid it all out as did Pope JPII in his amazing teachings in the Gospel of Life. Sexual relations have devolved into a carnival ride, it is primarily a thing that exists for enjoyment, for gratification, children are merely an afterthought.
    Since sex is perceived as for enjoyment, then how one enjoys it is irrelevant THAT is why you see the problem.
    Repent from the abuse of the marital act. Men need to MAN-UP. Men need to lead the household in the fullness of God, and have the mere tiny bit of courage it takes to BE A FATHER.
    There are exactly two states in the Christian life: celibate or married. It needs to be said, preached, and quite frankly demanded. Sin happens, repentance IS NEEDED.

      Sydney is very much connected with Gafcon and most Gafcon bishops didn't go to the past two Lambeths. I think that says most of it.

      I believe the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has been very sympathetic to Gafcon and the Global South, based on Archbishop Raffel's statement on the recent CofE Synod's grave error on issues of marriage and sex.

      Sydney is the only individual diocese that has signed up to the GSFA so far. Sydney is very much in support. Dominic Steele from Sydney just did an interview with Justin Badi Arama supporting this statement. The last Archbishop of Sydney is now bishop of a GAFCON diocese and the previous one was the inaugural GAFCON Secretary General. I'm waiting to see if other Australian dioceses sign up to GSFA.

      Sydney didn't sign the statement because the Archbishop of Sydney is no longer a primate.

    Don’t forget the sin of closing churches without asking the Lord at govt request because of the plandemic.
    This might also be why the Lord is judging Anglicanism.
    I left to join a church that refused to close, defied the government, won in court and our congregation has grown 500 percent.

    The Catholic Church keeps changing the rules. The sabbath day is Saturday not Sunday! People are leaving the church because these things are happening and looking to walk into a faith led by the Bible. We don’t make the rules, we follow the laws and commandments of God as written in scripture. It’s not the place of anyone to change God’s laws.

    I guess it's become a trend, but does anyone really need to sip their drink during an interview? It's an interview, not a coffee break. It's always
    so distracting and rude. Front and center while someone is talking, distracting viewers from the person speaking. Then puts in their subconscious to go get a cup and then that brings people away from the interview entirely. I hope this incinsiderate trend soon fades away completely.

      Baptist churches are each autonomous, so there is no absolute guarantee that a particular church might not have the same attitude to same-sex relationships as the liberal Anglican bishops.
      That said the Baptist Union is very much more conservative than it was in the middle of the last century.

    Gave a thumbs down. I'm German and the way you're talking about what my ancestors knew or didn't know is driving me crazy. There were many concentration camps in the Reich, but no extermination camps, why is that? Maybe they'll figure it out on their own. This Anglo-Saxon arrogance disgusts me. Btw: US and GB knew at least since January 44 what is happening in Auschwitz and they did, even after D-Day, nothing - nothing. - On the topic: If you find the situation in the CofE so unbearable, why don't you follow G. Ashenden and become Catholic? What a crap !
