I apologize for the music from 0:36-0:39ish, Due to the video reaching so many people out of respect to the company Loren worked for we decided to edit out their name (Since the subtitles butchered the name i kept them in so you could still know what else he was saying in between him saying the company's name) and the music was the quickest and easiest way to do so :) Thank you all for the support so far! We had no idea people would care this much about Loren and his condition and we are overwhelmed with love and support!
This is extremely tragic, but stay positive about this. We live in a time where robotics are making HUGE strides! Since it appears his spine made it through, he is a perfect candidate for robotic limbs. The signals will come from his brain, but having the spine not damaged, he is going to have amazing control over the robotic limbs. Just think " Robocop" , because that is where we're headed with all of the technology these days. The robotic limbs he WILL get will allow him to do things he could not do with his actual arm and legs. He should never think, 'how will I survive without 3 of my limbs? , because he is going to have them back, just robotic
I'm going to contact a few places that may find your story very interesting( for lack of a better term). Obviously robotic limb technology is very expensive, but the recent leaps in this field will likely mean he is a great candidate for testing the most recent technology. There are likely going to be people that will be dedicating a lot of time and energy on helping him, but it will be beneficial to them as well. Many of these companies are in a race to be the " top dog" when it comes to this field, and he will likely benefit because of this. Remember , EVERYTHING happens for a reason! Stay positive!

Dude's entire life changed because other people couldn't be bothered to do the _bare minimum._ Couldn't be bothered to obey traffic laws and observe a work zone, couldn't be bothered to train him properly before putting him in a forklift. Someone else didn't want to be inconvenienced even for a moment and he's the one who suffered the consequences. As inspiring as Loren is for pressing forward and for all the support he has around him, all at such a young age, people need to take away that _THIS_ is why you need to pay attention and do things the right way even when it's not "convenient" for you. You're not the main character. You're not the only one who's going to have to pay for your dumb decisions.
My fiancé drove forklift trucks for a decade and though it's not his main job, I hate when he does have to use one. At least his company requires training on it every few years or so. Heck, he was once a trainer.
The bigger problem is that roads were monopolized by the government, and the government sucks at maintaing the roads. They hire companies usually based on being the cheapest or based on nepotism rather than quality. They also avoid hiring third shift companies, because they usually aren't unionized, and first and second shift is the most dangerous time to do road maintenance. The government also pays for jobs in an inefficient way that causes ridiculous delays and lengthy times, which exacerbates the problem of people annoyed in work zones.
Loren you just saved my life. I am 64 and suffer from clinical depression. Just yesterday I wanted to die so badly. A Hemicorporectomy is considered an extreme last resort, the amount of trauma his pelvis would have had...I can’t imagine. It’s incredible the surgery went so well and he pulled through! Amazing amazing strength.
joonie tunes an estimated 250 hemi surgeries have been performed worldwide since it was first introduced as a way of saving soldiers who suffered horrific combat trauma in world war II ( 250 were in 2011, today I don‘t know)
"Emergency rooms and ambulance service policies advise against the resuscitation of such patients. The UK's National Health Service, for example, in its "Policy and Procedures for the Recognition of Life Extinct" describes traumatic hemicorporectomy (along with decapitation) as "unequivocally associated with death" and that such injuries should be considered "incompatible with life".[8] The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (COT) have also released similar position statements and policy allowing on-scene personnel to determine if patients are to be considered unresuscitatable.[9]"

I train forklift classes professionally. I have taught upwards of 500 employees how to drive a forklift and certify them. One of the first things I tell them is DONT JUMP if they tilt. The forklift seatbelt is also so you CANT jump. It’s human nature to want to jump. But forklifts high side. I stumbled across this video completely by accident. My heart goes out to this dude. Tough as nails. God bless.
Unreal that he was allowed to drive that vehicle untrained. I was allowed to drive a compacting roller (also untrained) and nearly rolled down an embankment trying to avoid colliding with a water truck - thing steers so slowly. When we are young we take so many risks.
I'm an instructor too. Absolutely, never ever jump out. If he had time to unbuckle a safety harness and think about jumping out he would have had time to grip the wheel and brace. So sad but there's so many people out there driving without proper training. So many people are pressured into this sort of thing by their boss. It's not worth it. Hang in there buddy.
@@JustinDeane222 The terrible thing is that he didn’t even know how big a risk he was taking. This is the Foreman’s fault for grabbing someone to do a dangerous job they hadn’t even been trained for. Alfasaurus morphine is a painkiller, it’ll reduce his pain but not his outlook at the situation and how he is handling it. How he’s being strong and not breaking down is all because of himself. Definitely. There will be a law suit and you won't have to worry about working every again. I'm sorry if this company goes bankrupt from it, but it was pure negligence on their part letting you operate the fork lift to begin with.
I had to go threw 2 hours of training in class and hands on and one of the main things if the fork lift rolls stay buckled up and try to keep your hands and legs in. This is all on the owner of the company.

A hemicorporectomy is "just" a type of very extended surgery. Why should it be pretty much unsurvivable? It is a risky surgery indeed, I totally agree, but the risks are more or less controllable. I think the really, really amazing thing is how he survived the time from accident to emergency room and the induction of the first anaesthesia.
@@nothingbutwahala She was probably thinking of traumatic hemicorporectomy - which is pretty much non-survivable unless you happen to be standing right next to a hospital when it happens. A very big salute to you brother and hang in there your story is not over. You have an incredible women right there, standing by your side no matter what. Seeing him so happy and content with his life with you even after going through all of that trauma makes me happy and sad and a whole heap of emotions. He should become a motivational speaker honestly.
Our stories are so similar it scared me. I relived my ordeal while hearing yours. I ended up with a hemi-pelvectomy. I was conscious through my accident as well. I own a logging job and was cutting timber and long story short I ended up with a tree on me. Ruptured the illic artery and lost blood flow to my legs. Keep that smile on your face! God has a purpose for us both. Or neither of us would be here.
oh my goodness that's heartbreaking. that's such a hard way of living, and i really hope you're getting through it all well. you deserve such a good way of living and i hope you can experience things just the same as people without that surgery and accident

I feel similarly watching this. I have Ehlers-Danlos, with some spinal issues causing nervous system disease, chronic pain, fatigue, horrible neck pain, autoimmune issues etc and I get depressed/shut down. Trying to get out of it
@@dreamerqueennotunderthemachineyou are so brave! Illnessess that mess with your mental health are horrible. Because you don't only have to fight the normal sadness because of your illness but also clinical depression because of malfunction of neurotransmitter release and so on. Immune system issues eat up your hydrocortisol (a hormone our bodies produce) which is absolutely vital for blood sugar levels AND has a huge positive impact on your mental wellbeing and lots of other important things. I am talking out of experience. Luckily I have found a doctor who prescribeds hydrocortisol. Without it I am enormously fatigued and severely depressed and no amount of willpower can change that. I don't know if you could get the medication but maybe you could do some research. I do so hope that you find some meds that reduce your suffering! Btw I am diagnosed with ME/CFS, small fibre syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome. As before mentioned I take hydrocortisol .And I take also some anti-depressants against the fibromyalgia pains. I wish you all the best!.

Ok well he knew he wasn’t qualified and still did it so
My fiancé drove forklift trucks for a decade and though it's not his main job, I hate when he does have to use one.
@@positivelyparker this wouldn’t have happened if the driver of the car actually followed traffic laws.

When the doctors presented the surgery to us they referred to it as a hail mary surgery.. so essentially for Loren it was the last resort you're right
"Emergency rooms and ambulance service policies advise against the resuscitation of such patients.

Nurse here :
This had me at the edge of my seat and my jaw on the floor. This is unreal. Unbelievable. Miracle.
I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and have met only two hemicopectomy cases. It is a strong will that has kept these amazing people going.
Medic here. Finding it impossible to wrap my head around what I’d do on that scene
Find the major arteries clamp, pressure, fluids, vasopressor. Loren's body was providing the ultimate natural vasopressor, adrenaline. Yeah, definitely a shock to the medics that walked up to that situation.
Sabia is a Angel, and Loren is a fighter, this ladies and gentlemen is what couples goals should look like.
Thank you for speaking my mind

@@r.i.pyoutube6881 how sad is your life that you have to say stuff like this?
I'm like so mad at the driver who didn't obey the rules of the road, who apparently thought his time was more important than the safety of his fellow drivers. And the construction dude who didn't even train Loren on the the lift and expected him to operate it. But, I also know that our higher power always has a plan, even if we can't see it at first. I love this couple!
Right!!?! I think the company is directly responsible for him being in the forklift. I hope they are paying this man's bills and for what he needs to have a good quality life at home moving forward. OSHA?
Yeah if he was properly task trained he would of known to never unbuckle his seat belt and try to jump. Equipment is designed with roll over protection to save lives in situations like these. Super sad. I can't imagine. This guy is a fighter though. Your amazing Loren
@badapple1403 pretty sure he was driving a telehandler, not an actual fork lift like you would find in a warehouse. In which case the piece of equipment he was driving was absolutely designed to sustain a rollover.
@@kimberlyhartz6529 oh definitely, he they probably didn't say the name of the company because they are getting the shit sued out of them
@@laurie.n2487 I bet you're right! Didn't think about that but if a lawyer was called, and should be, its a court case. I hope he wins millions ... not because I'm a gold digger but look what he lost!!!
Every road construction worker is also someone’s brother, dad, husband, boyfriend, son. I live in Minnesota, where road construction is 3 seasons. OBEY the posted speed limits! There are human lives at risk! Loren I’m so sorry this happened to you! You are truly a strong young man! God Bless you both!
I live in California where road construction is year round. I’ve seen construction sites where people just fly by! In other cases a Calif. Highway Patrol officer will sit in his car at the site to protect workers. I wish people would realize that there is nothing so important to get to in a hurry that can cost someone’s life.
"Pelarske"...
Did you know/know of a Ronald Pelarske, by chance, who would have died in the 80s as a middle-aged to senior man?
The reason I am asking, is because my husband & I also live in MN, and his mother just recently learned a few years ago that her father was not who she thought he was, and instead it was a man named, "Ron Pilarski"...
But, we searched and searched that name to find his maternal grandfather, and found NOTHING.
I am wondering if your spelling is actually the correct spelling of the name. He was supposedly Polish...
Thank you.
@@bh29 hi BH! There is some question as to the correct spelling, but it’s been ske for as long as I know . There are Pelarski’s in Holdingford Mn you may want to check with. My husband nor I know Ronald. Sorry
Hemicopectomy is a rare situation. It is important he made this decision, they're amazing.
This kid said he would still "find work doing something, itll just be a little bit" he lost his legs and his arm and still has the work ethic that most able bodied people dont even have. You're a trooper mate. And bless that beautiful girl you have by your side. Dont let her go

Tyler Anderson oh trust, she will never. She doesn’t love herself enough to be confident that she’ll find someone better 😫
If he wasn’t trained to work the forklift, the company he worked for should absolutely be liable for instructing him to operate it. These aren’t toy trucks you’re playing with.
Glad you’re alive and all! Just sucks that since he unbuckled and tried to jump out the company probably will not be held responsible 😐😥 if anyone has an update plz give it because I would love to be wrong 👏🏼 I bet it wasn’t his first time running it either? But either way in my company even the brand new apprentices are told no matter what to be buckled up and go for the ride.
Do u know how easy it is for someone to get a forklift license? My ex got it in 2 weeks and in first week of being licensed didn’t look at how far up his fork was and tore down two buildings I secretly wished he be charged for it. But he wasn’t because it’s a company job even tho he was fined two weeks after that on he ruined. Second brand new car of mine first time he drove my new car. Because he didn’t pay attention! His girlfriend seems more traumatized by the story than he is. Serves as a great testament to the adaptability of the brain and body
I can’t imagine what it has been like for her to watch someone she loves so much go through something so horrific. I think the fact she’s able to talk about it is because he is so strong.

You just said the lords name in vein yet said God Bless?
I just stumbled across your videos on tiktok. I’ve seen so many others sharing your story with people having very negative thoughts on you choosing to keep living. You have my highest respect for your choice to keep going on. As an individual with a disability myself, it’s so easy to feel anger towards those who are saying you should have just let go but at the same time I know they don’t know what it’s like to be in our position. I wouldn’t change my life for anything because it’s shown how strong I am to overcome all the adversity I’ve had to face. You are still here for a reason as I am as well. You are using your story to show others that even in the worst imaginable accidents there is still hope. There is still a life to live if given that choice. Don’t you ever let the negativity get to your head. Keep on fighting!

Yep, I agree...because you'll need the funds. This isn't a slip and fall. What they wrongfully did changed a bunch of lives forever and they need to be responsible for that. There will also be a home specially outfitted for his needs, a vehicle (get a BIG DODGE TRUCK) will need to be outfitted for him. You survived a hemicorporectomy. Something we pretty much consider as unsurvivable in medicine. I’m amazed. You are amazing. I wish you all the very best with your future and I hope you keep going with all the fantastic support you have round you. Loads of good vibes my dude
Surgical one is complex and risky procedure, fragile and old patients are at a significant risk of dying on the table.
His pelvis was crushed, it wasn't transected/amputated in any way as far as I remember when I listened to his story.
Will he live a life of normal length or will losing all of these body parts shorten his life immensely??
@@solsticequeen Patients like these have shorter lifespan due to high amounts of medications that damage organs in long term.
There is also a risk of complications with wounds, urine drainage and skin ulcers that can lead to premature death.
