    Good job. The one I just received today is slightly different than the older model. No gears to align and the air intake assembly was already together. And it has a normal, grounded 3-prong plug on a single full length dc cord.
    I am just leaving this comment so others don't get confused if theirs doesn't look exactly like yours.

      Well, we need more of this type of stuff available. They'll post it on social media apparently. Though, I'll need to do an update because of repositioning the interior top bubble plate so it's properly aligned with the pump outflow. So I will post a brief post script to this video. Maybe they'll hire me to do assembly videos on their complete line. 🤔 I'd do that for cheap I think. Thanks for watching!

    Cindy, The top of the bubble chamber has an area with no holes in it. That area should be directly over the air outlet of the pump. It deflects the air inside the chamber. You probably already know that by now but just in case.

    I made the mistake not lining the diffuser plate up above pump outlet writing goes above outlet. Also get the large plate on pump central in housing it's slightly off centre to the pump look from above.
    Under the base open vent to full before putting the housing on and set the dial to minimum or the dial won't work correct, teeth need to be in correct position together. Hope this helps or it will be a headache, big difference if wrong.

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  4 года назад +1

      Hey Lee, thanks for the tips! I did an update video on the position of the diffuser plate, and also (somewhere, it was a few years ago now) mentioned the thing about the teeth lining up. Both very important!
      I got a different skimmer after putting up with really erratic behaviour (in spite of fixing both the things you mentioned) from this thing for over a year. I now believe the pump was overpowered for the skimmer chamber - I couldn’t control it from overflowing.
      My Deltec 600i was a winner straight out of the box. No muss, no fuss, just consistent excellent performance. So now, for my new build, I’ll be getting a Deltec 3000i.
      Thanks for watching! 👍🏻

      @@Reefgrrl Hey oh ok well more info the better I guess. It comes with an air valve clamp now on the tube to calm the intake down so they know something is up, I can't tune it well on full air intake must admit and you kinda get a better bubble fine tune.
      Glad you got a good one tho I got mine at a good price so will see how it goes seems fine tho atm.

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  3 года назад +1

      Yeah - they blew me off at the time and said restricting the air intake would void the warranty. My thinking was that it was unusable without restricting the air intake so I might as well risk it - or maybe just drive over it with my car because at least that would be entertaining. 🙄 In the end, it worked with the air restriction for about a year, then started randomly overflowing again for no identifiable reason. So I got a Deltec 600i and it worked like a dream right out of the box. Loved it so much, I’m getting a 3000i for the new build. Pricey, yes, but oh, so worth every penny. I did a video if you’re interested - search my videos for “I think I’m in love” and you’ll find it. 😁

    One thing I’ve noted in all of these videos... they’re cutting the overflow drain because they aren’t going to use it. How about... just don’t put it on in the first place and don’t ruin it? Then, you can add it later if you change your mind or give it to someone!

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  4 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for watching! It’s because there’s no way to cap the drain - the only thing that fits over the exit tube is the hose. The plastic end is not removable and in any case, needs the hose to attach it to the exit. Hope this help explain. 😁👍🏻👍🏻

    Great assembly video Reefgrrl. I don't have a Bubble Magus but I saw something with your install that could possibly be wrong. The bubble plate that attaches to the pump outlet should have the solid portion directly above the outlet. Not positive but you might want to check.

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  7 лет назад +1

      Hey Phil, thanks for this. Not sure what you mean - there is only one opening in the plate that's large enough to accommodate the white fitting screwing down into the pump opening - ? Rotating it would prevent the skimmer body from fitting over it....? I'll take a look at it later to check. Thx for wTching!

    • @Reefkpr1
      @Reefkpr1 7 лет назад

      Reefgrrl I'm talking about the white plate that has holes on part and solid on the other, and is attached with the black screw. there is a solid portion on the plate which should be above the pump outlet instead of the holes.

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  7 лет назад +1

      I see where you mean but the black screw goes down through the smaller white plate and into a hole in the centre area of the larger plate so that's the only position that works as far as I can see. There isn't a provision for rotating it as far as I can tell. But I'll look.

    • @Reefkpr1
      @Reefkpr1 7 лет назад

      I'm so sorry if I'm not explaining this right. The smaller white plate has a blue Bubble Magus logo on it. The logo (solid portion) should be right above the outlet on the pump instead of the small holes. loosen the black screw and rotate.

    Hi great video. I just got the same skimmer. How long it takes for the skimmer to break in?

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  6 лет назад

      Well, mine still isn’t broken in, over a year later. I have a few other videos about it. I had to restrict the air intake to stop it from overflowing. As long as I do that, it skims. But the manufacturer recommends not to, because the pump life will be shortened. I figure it’s useless if it won’t stop overflowing anyway, so if the pump dies what the heck, at least I have some use from it. 🙄
      I’ve bought a Deltec 600i to replace it, will be doing a sump makeover in the next few weeks. 😁

      @shoregun103 6 лет назад

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  6 лет назад +1

      Right now the bubble plate is barely under the water. I’ve spent so much time and energy on this thing.....my big complaint is that it does not work if you follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. You have to make changes that are bad for it, just to get it working. I suspect I have a defective pump, but the manufacturer disagrees. 🤷‍♀️ So I switch brands and we will see what happens. 😁

    • @Reefgrrl
      @Reefgrrl  6 лет назад

      Hi, it’s just over 7”X 7”, and 18.5” tall. From my experience, it only skimmed when in around 6” of water. But it never stopped overflowing until I restricted the air intake. I don’t use it any more because i could never rely on it to work properly. I now have a Deltec 600i. Hmmm, depends on bioload I think. Also, it's quite tall so you'd need to figure that too. It's the recommended size for my 112G system volume and I would have gone bigger if I wasn't running an algae scrubber and UV sterilizer. I don't think you can ever go too big really, other than limitations of space.

      Mine is skimming really well, finally. This video talks about what led to solving the problem: ruclips.net/video/-t2FtWwXQSA/видео.html
      Ultimately, the only thing that worked was restricting the air intake, against the manufacturer’s recommendation. They said it would lead to premature pump failure. I said it’s useless to me anyway if it perpetually overflows so I have a choice between replacing it when it dies, or simply driving over it with my car because it’s useless to me if it does nothing but overflow, and at least that would be entertaining and satisfying. I plan to replace it with a Deltec when the time comes, and I’m currently saving up for that. Halfway there, so if this one lasts another several months, I’ll be ready.....
      Good luck - let me know how it goes. 👍🏻

      News flash: mine has been running a year and still overflows without the air restriction. 🤬 I see what you mean by setting - mine also is fully open. BUT have you looked underneath at the gears and the actual size of the opening? Because I’ve found that MAX on mine is not fully open because the gears can become misaligned. So I turn the adjustment until the hole is fully open, and use a sharpie to draw a black line at the bottom of the turning thing, across and down to the fixed section of the body - then I know for sure it’s wide open when both halves of the line are continuous. Of course this is done out of the water - I noticed this the first time I took the whole thing apart for cleaning.
