@ponigurlami that excepion is when a horse twitch its ear. This they do when they're threaten, intimidate or are taking on a threatening attitude themselves. So it's easy to think that the opposite (ears forward) most be the opposite attitude, but it's not. A horse with its ears slightly back, can be happy, but for example concentrated... As when we're frowning - we don't have to be ANGRY, but we don't look happy either. You have to look at the whole picture. The ears are ment to hear...
That jump is at the TOP OF THE BANK at Spruce Meadows....(See 0:31) They go over that and then straight down the bank....just to put it into perspective. I think that if it was a big jump and it went wrong the horse/rider could roll right over and down, that's the reason for the low height.

Yup, you totally saw that brat rider do a crap job of setting up the horse, who then refused the jump and got whipped for it. Kudos to this rider for showing what he's really made of! Kudos to the horse for not dumping his stupid ass into the dirt.

shutterfly, the horse Merdiths rides is the best showjumping horse out there right now and when it stops at a jump like that it is not because it's scared or anything, this is a top quality horse who dont just get scared, a horse IS NOT ALLOWED to stop infront of a jump if the rider doesn't tell it to do so, that is a fact. so it may be the horse might get the wrong distance or so but a good showjumping horse jumps of and does it bet, if not it wont be able to win thats show jumping for ya
The one at 1:40 isn't something that should be done regurly. It would/can/does cause problems on the landing. They're hooves arn't that gooda shock absorbers. Before you all have a go at me, im a vet nurse. I know what im talking about.

1.35 along the video run time is Nick Skelton in 1978 breaking the record for high jumping on the horse Lastic. And YES is it amazing. I hope not something the horse did often and I am sure the jump was followed by hyrotherapy and proper post competition care.

some people need to calm down . you cant force a horse to do this but the horses are bred with the talent and scope to jump the fences they dont just get any old horse. and if the horses were in the wild they would have to jump over things to get away from prediters. im a showjumper and if it was bad for the horses we wouldnt have showjumping !

this doesn't hurt the horses in the slightest bit. the reason why they actually can jump those fences is because they have the right musculature which lets them push up and absorb the shock from coming down. sure they have to retire earlier but i mean look at racing. they retire when they're like 4 years old and its so much more unhealthy for the horse. jumping is slower pace and barely ever gives the horses a problem.
theres nothing wrong with the horse if the horse didnt wanna do ta jump it wouldnt but he loves wat hes doin its just a horse with talent and must love its owner so much tat ta horse doesnt wanna let him down so no need 2 say poor horse :)
I think the correct comment would be that the video "horse jumping remix" is exactly the same video as Get Off My Back with a different music track - check the upload dates on both, and the quality of vids is also a dead give away as well...
