I debated making the video but in the end 1) I am a news guy, people come to this channel for news so I would be letting you down if I didn't 2) there's no possible sweeping this under the rug now, its out there. Can't put the genie back into the bottle. Video speaks for itself, I will say overall my impressions are overwhelmingly positive, classic character redesigns are all homeruns across the board with no exceptions, and all the new characters look very interesting. At that point its a matter of public interest. In fact in the past I have several times helped sweep stuff under the rug so it didn't get out there 👁

We already got new characters in 5 just put them in this instead of again adding new randoms so many iconic chars missing like where tf is claw aka vega?? He been in every game since dawn of time. But fcking ed got in lool

And ever since dlc became a thing, unfortunately they gotta save the ones they know fans will definitely be hyped for to get that $$$ 😂
Got a feeling a lot of fan favourites will be in Season 1. I’m thinking Makoto, Menat, Sean, Sakura & Dudley are high on the list for either Season 1 or 2.
@@snowqueen_8958 My personal speculation is they’ll space out the Four Heavenly Kings over a couple of seasons (and I do mean four, as I don’t think F.A.N.G will return). I even think Bison will return eventually, just maybe not in his old form (could be in another person’s body, could be an android body hosting his Psycho Power, could be Psycho Ghost Bison, whatever they come up with).

22 characters on the base roster, that's a pretty decent amount. I imagine we'll get at least 2 season passes, adding 4-5 characters each. Like, we haven't seen Vega at all, and I expect him to be in the game. Unless he's just a cameo like Laura and Sean.
Going by the cycles SF games tend go by, I think we'll get at least 4 season passes. If SFV hadn't skipped a season, it'd have 6 passes. Then again, SFV got that 5th pass because SF6 ran into development problems. So I'll stick to 4. So the final roster will likely be 42 characters, if they don't throw in extras every now and then.
I disagree with the Ken analysis. To me he looks more like he’s trying to get back to his Street Fighting routes after being so successful in the corporate world; fighting with the “street culture” theme.
The leak was on reddit by DasVergeben like 4 months ago. He just described the new characters and a little background info about them like how JP uses Psycho powers and A.K.I using poison like fang. This guy always has big leaks and usually right.
Damn, so this means that leak from several months ago was legit. 25 characters is a really nice starting roster and instantly puts most of the competition on the backfoot. The person who dropped this leak said Rose is also part of the roster. I'm LOVING these designs. Kimberly looks like she may be trained/involved with Guy or Maki. That top and her shoes are conspicuously familiar. Now, Ken? Looks like he's fighting the Satsui no Divorce.
@@Neoxon619 Based on the trailer I'm willing to bet we get Li Fan since we see her training with Chun! And based on the focus he got in a portion of it, perhaps Damnd/Thrasher from Final Fight will be playable?
If 25 is "true" then we have 3 more mysteries(although we may know ONE of them, the girl who got bopped by Chun-li in the trailer who may or may not be one the orphan Chun-li adopted in Alpla)
Blanka's boy scout style makes a lot of sense! Since he's actually a USA boy who fell in the Amazon River, in a plane crash, where he was turned into Blanka by the electric eels that lived there.
i absolutely love these designs. this leak has me more hyped than before. im starting to turn around on my initial reaction to the game and really digging the style (but seriously, Lukes joker smile keeps me up at night).
Definitely neat to have the 8 original world warriors back as the starting roster, shame that Vega, Sagat, and Balrog are not present. Also surprised Menat is not part of the starting roster.
I think shadowloo might be gone...ed is like associated representative of shadowloo roster wise.....and maybe that regal/bison character...due to the association of psycho powers
Sagat is no longer Shadowloo, he's basically an ally! 😄 I wish they'd write him in as part of the crew. He is one of the true originals with Ryu and Ken and has a nice character arc.

Also, it just has to be said: EVERY SINGLE REDESIGN IS FOR THE BETTER. I love that Capcom finally lets the characters evolve. SF5 did it a little bit, just not enough.
@@NurseValentineSG This Ed is definitely an upgrade, both the clothes, and making him slimmer (which he should’ve always been, imo). Still wish they gave him a base outfit that involved a hood over his head of some kind, as I feel that was a core part of his design until they gave him that weird military look in SFV. That said, this casual jeans and bomber jacket look is cool, too, albeit lacking a little in identity.
I feel bad for the people who don't want to see the roster. Unless they hide away in a fallout shelter for eight months, avoiding this is going to be impossible.

WOW wasn't really expecting the roster to be out there so quickly. Agreed, at the very least the character redesigns are much more varied and interesting that anything that they had tried in years. The SF universe is moving forward and its inhabitants should also as well. This game will be interesting to say the least.
I am so happy that we are finally getting a sequel to third strike. But please no m bison or related villains let’s move forward with story and concepts. And no characters from third strike….Q? Fingers crossed.

I am very surprised neither G or Menat is base roster since they seemed to be fan favorite newcomers in 5. They’ll most likely show up later down the line (hopefully) Other than that I’m LOVING the redesigns, werent expecting much, but damn that trailer blew me away
Menet wasn't played much right? Outside people liking her design I never really saw her. They probably went off who was played the most for base outside Luke and the newcomers of course.
I mean... That schtick is getting a bit old to be honest. Ryu has Sakura. Ken has Sean. Chun-Li has Li-Fen. Balrog has Ed. Bison has a bazillion bodies... Can we have spiritual successors which aren't necessarily tied to the OG for once?
As an Italian, we would use Marisa as the name of the first new character, which actually has in its etimology Mars, the Roman God of war, so while i wasn't that excited with the design initially, I can say it's pretty fitting
I love these leaks. I think they are a blessing in disguise. We won't be seeing hate on new character reveals cause it's not the ones you want and the associated disappointment. This sets the expectations and will only result in positive coverage. I actually believe this is the best way to reveal your roster.
The only disappointment about the roster is that the entirety of it got leaked at all. The redesigns and new characters look great, but I want to see what they look like in engine and play like.
More speculations: Ryu's sash was the one worn by Oro. Jaime is Lee's (SF1) son, making him Yun & Yang's cousin. Li-Fen and Damnd are part of the roster. Haggar passed since he has a memorial in his honor. And yeah it seems that Ken has fallen through some tough times.

A lot more new characters than I expected. Ones I expected at launch are missing like Rose and G. Also surprised that Laura and Sean are missing. The look of the game absolutely would fit their vibe. Also guess I’ll have to wait for DLC for Sagat. Also hobo Ken looks sad :(
I honestly think that Sean is going to be DLC. I have a theory that Capcom will phase out Ryu and Ken as their sf mascots as they get older storywise, and phase in Luke and Sean(with a buff so he doesn't suck) instead.
I think this will be a huge positive for Capcom marketing. The designs look great and this roster has gotten me so hype. So excited to see these characters in motion, especially right after the great showing in the trailer
From what i seen , I like what i saw. If it it's true, and if that's what we are getting on Launch day, that's a big roster size for a Main Street Fighter Game.
The leaks didn't mention Damned, so it's possible theirs still more characters, just maybe not playable at launch. Boss fights like Gill, Urien, G, ect.
they went ham with the redesigns, kept the core intact while making everything a lot cleaner and playing into each character's thematic. really looking forward to seeing them in game. for those curious, the katakana for the new characters are marisa (mariiza), mimi, and lily (ririi)
I'm REALLY surprised there's still no fighter from Indonesia. Even though it has pencak silat martial arts and considering one of the best action films use it (the raid and the raid 2) They could go crazy creative with the designs
Sad to see Poison and C.Viper didn't make the initial main roster, but hopefully they will be released as dlc. As a Juri main I'm really happy for her being in the main roster from the get go and I won't have to do an "wait until my main shows up" approach. Also really liking her new design.
@@SpinDoctor91 they've said that they're not using Fei Long in any future SF games because the Lee family (Bruce Lee) is suing any company using his likeness for their characters...I'm not sure how true that is but it's been running for a bit now
Really good size starting roster, especially for a game that doesn’t have an arcade version to build off. I love most of the new characters and old character redesigns. Honda and Rashid look especially sick! Cammy less so, mostly because it’s kinda bland. And while the new characters are all great designs, some are a little busy in terms of colours (the American girl especially, which is a shame because she’s super cool otherwise).

And although I’m not one to want all women characters sexualized (I vastly prefer character designs like Makoto), I DO think Cammy’s butt is kind of a signature trait of her design. It’s as integral as her oversized gloves, pigtails, and having a military hat. So it’s a little odd to me that they’re ditching everything but her gloves, when they’ve been pretty good about preserving the “essence” of every other character’s design. Not that it’s the end of the world lol. Just a design choice I wouldn’t have gone with.
Cammy has never looked better. I'm glad my girl finally learnt how to dress herself and put on pants. her sf2 design has always been terrible. it also seems to annoy the right people.

YES YES YES redesigns are fantastic! Multiple new characters! New moves great soundtrack! THIS is the street fighter I've been wanting for years. It feels like were missing 3 characters though like how did sean, sakura, and Dudley NOT show up. I know they will be there for DLC but this would have been the perfect game for them.
capcom make the Mexican girl dirty, AGAIN!! first T hawk then El fuerte and now these girl Eeh. capcom should learn from SNK that they have given us good Mexican fighters like Angel, Ramon and Tizok without going so much into stereotypes 🙄
I've always wondered if these leaks are intentional or not at this point. Gets publicity out there for free, gives them a chance to see if the fans out cry about a design sucking, so they can change it before too far in development.
Hard to know for sure, but the effects of this leak are literally as positive and beneficial as it ever could be for Capcom so they ain't too burnt up about it
After the disaster of SFV (at least up until the last season), I'm actually really hyped for this game. Robust single-player, solid roster, good gameplay, and rollback netcode will have me playing SF again.

I love this. Ken to me maybe going through a crisis of self possibly, no longer able to match Ryu he maybe decided to go out into the world with little and see if that is what he needs to better himself. That or he lost his fortune in multiple defamation claims against people calling out his banana hair! The world Warriors being back in full proper is good, the returning 6 are a solid choice and range. Personally would of liked to see Dudley but not going to call that selection of 6 bad, real solid choices. As for the 8 newcomers. Well, naturally I don't like Luke because he is a shoto but I will give him that he at least looks good here. Just looked out of place in 5 and the promo stuff we had before. Certainly a diverse roster that looks good overall and I look forward to seeing them showcase these characters in the future. Certainly interested in the Italian big lady, looks like she may be a Juggernaut style of character, at the very least she seems to carry the vibe of punching and punches HARD. Overall, excited!

I think Bison will return as an even more deranged version of Violent Ken with remnants of his memory and Psycho Energy still intact. Also the first two letters in violent is just the Roman numeral for 6.Just saying It'd be a real missed opportunity if they didn't add him or that weird, numeral - play on titles - thing Capcom's been doing lately.

While I'm sad none of my wish list characters are in (yet), this is honestly a good looking base roster and I think all the new characters legit look interesting. Really eager to see how Mexico girl and suave Russia man is gonna play like.
I wish they added a redesign T.Hawk with revamped moveset with spirit-like projectiles inspired on the classic Pocahontas games in the SNES/Mega Drive, his story and connections to characters in the world is a lot more relevant than a wasted slot like Abigail for example...

Some characters that have been gags in the past are looking a lot more dignified in this concept art, which I'm a big fan of. Thinking of Zangief and Honda specifically here. We'll see if that holds up in their portrayal in-game.
I LOVE the redesigns, they look a lot better than the SF5 redesigns. The new characters look really good too. I'm also glad to see Deejay return, i thought there was a very slim chance of him making the roster since he's not one of the more popular characters, glad to see him in, he's always been one of my favorites.

Praying Sakura is DLC. mained her ever since Sf4 and as this is suppose to be next generation, Sakura was the first implimentation of the next generation idea
I wonder if in the upcoming DLC SEASON OF STREETFIGHTER 6 some of the characters from Streetfighter Alpha/Rival School's will be in here like Sean,Sakura,Makoto,Akira and Karin since it seems most of the World Warriors are here you have to put in a few of their students possibly as DLC since they didn't get into the base roster but all n all it's pretty decent roster size
Since you asked about the Mexico girl's clubs, and Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) history is one of my favorite topics: I'm sort of disappointed in her design: For starters, as you say, the club design is more Great Lake area, from what's now the United States and Canada. There ARE Mesoamerican maces/clubs with spherical heads, called Q/Cuauhololli in Nahuatl (the Aztec language, though "Aztec" is a imprecise term) but these are depicted with straight handles, to my knowledge (though there are OTHER types of Mesoamerican clubs with curved/angled handles). I think Capcom may have just googled it, since you do see a bunch of recreations with curved handles if you do that which AFAIK aren't based on any actual historical depiction. What's worse IMO is her clothing: It's not Mesoamerican or Indigenous Mexican (not all parts of Mexico are Mesoamerican) at all. Her clothing is, for a lack of a better term, sort of just a generic blend of Native American motifs in general, like T-Hawk was. National sterotypes aren't new to SF, but I wish they'd at least be generic blends of the right nationality: She should be wearing something like a Huipil or a Quechquemitl (again, the Nahuatl terms, but the Mayas, Zapotecs, etc have their own for the garments), or some cool outfit based on them. I'm not gonna say Necalli was super well done or anything, but I liked his alternate outfit/super form where his skin gets like stone and turquioise, which was based on Mesoamerican mosiac masks and art. Rooflemonger, you will be happy to know that Kotal Kahn still reigns supreme as the best designed Mesoamerican fighting game: Despite the lore calling him the Maya war god Buluc, he's a rather well done adapation of the Aztec war god Huitzliopotchli, having the diety's blue-green skin, with the War, Sun, and Blood attributes all tying into symbolism traditionally associated with the god: The myth of his birth where he is born fully armed and defeats his sister and brother is usually interpreted as allegory for the rise of the sun and the fall of the moon/stars every day/night; and the need for sacrifices of enemy soldiers to him was used by the Mexica of the Aztec captial to justify expansionism. His little snake daggers are based on Xiuhcoatl, a fire-solar/lightining snake wielded by the god as a weapon (some concept art even shows a cut move where the snake would come alive and light on fire to attack the enemy) and all his gear and move names in MK11 are based on Nahuatl/Aztec words, gods, military ranks, and kings. (I do wish his outfits were a bit more authentic though, and he should be transforing into a Hummingbird or at least an Eagle rather then a Jaguar)
The subject of Native American is very dangerous. I'm surprised that Capcom even dared to include this girl in the game. Inevitably activists will come running and say that the Japanese developers humiliated the Native American ethnicity and portrayed something wrong. The best move is not to include Native American in any game at all these days, so as not to offend anyone.
Hey appreciate the info dump! I know more about great lakes/ontario/quebec region as I am part native myself, and as soon as I saw the clubs I felt something was up there haha. I think a generic blend of motifs isn't bad though since you don't wanna necessarily focus on one tribe, especially if yours is fictional just like Nightwolf being "matoka". Happy my boy Kotal gets the seal of approval from someone who knows their stuff!
@@Rooflemonger I've actually really wanted to do a breakdown on Kotal's Mesoamerican influences for a while: I act as a consultant and help with scripts for various history and archeology channels (and done some collabs/outreach for the Pokken scene, but obv that's not MK), but none of them really cover those influences in games so I haven't had the opportunity. If that's something you'd be interested in let me know! Re: blending influences, this is obviously just my opinion, but: I don't think that's inherently an issue, at least with media that doesn't take itself too seriously (like Mortal Kombat, which is why it's a pleasent suprise Kotal was well done, and why I focus on the things kotal does right rather then wrong) but I think Street Fighter's emphasis on nationality sort of makes more specific influences a bigger deal, especially since it's not like they're mixing different Mesoamerican civilizations inside Mexico together, but are using motifs from US-Canadian indigenous tribes and groups while labeling it as Mexican/with an ostensible Mesoamerican theme. Like the distance between the Great Lakes area and Mexico is comparable to the distance between Wester/Central Europe and parts of the Middle East.
Mexico wants more Ramon and Angel and less masked luchadores or Aztec dancer caricatures. T. Hawk is cool because back in 93 he could be read as a Yaqui, a tribe that gets zero attention from either Mexico or USA. And his story shines a spotlight on the struggles frontier natives had to go through with two foreign groups showing up, tracing maps over their land and calling the people who had always been there "illegal immigrants".
Man, Capcom’s damage control team must be shitting themselves right now from all these leaks. I bet they had all these character reveals planned and everything leading up to the release next year, and here we are, big roster leak plus in game footage of Ken in another video. Either way, it’s going to be a long wait to be able to play this next year 🫤
Actually, we don’t know if this is the full roster. The earlier leaks mentioned 25 characters, one of them being Rose. We still have two more to look forward to besides her.

At first, I was confused as to what made Kimberly a "ninja-style" character, until I noticed the high-top shoes along with the red/yellow color scheme of her outfit. If Kimberly has some connection to Guy or the other Bushinryu fighters, then I might have a potential new main when the game comes out! OwO
I'm sad that G didn't return, but JP gives off big G vibes. Both are old men. Both have beards. Both clothe in very stylized suits. Both have single letters as names. The origin of both is not clearly known. This and the fact that G plays a big role in Roses SFV story and JP having psycho powers, makes me believe that both are connected in some way.
This Cammy look is giving. While all of the designs are cool, some of them look quite similar to each other, either in color scheme and/or attire (Guile/Cammy/Ed). It's actually quite interesting that they didn't use green as the default for either Guile or Cammy.
I love these designs and pushing these characters forward In time was something they should of done a long ass time ago. It took almost 3 decades for the base characters to change up.
I'm getting Rugal vibes from that Russian character. I'm really interested in DeeJay. Everyone looks good. I get the feeling this is going to be a good street fighter with hype tournaments like it's 2011 SF4.

I feel like there's something up with Zangief's artwork compared to the others. Like everything else is all detailed and has subtle colors and I feel like Zangief is just more of a PoC sketch. I dunno. Here's hoping there's more to him.
I do dig the fact that the roster is mostly new characters. However, I do wish Sean was a starting roster character. We've been waiting more than 20 years to see his redemption arc! Let's see a good Sean again!

I definitely like the mix of female and male new characters. It’s pretty dope too that they are making these characters unique like usf4. Hopefully everyone is useable and not everyone just picks one character
After what happened in SFV im not surprised Vega is gone, he was a fun character but like even i have to admit that he would probably still be broken if added into SF6, still hope he does eventually get added.

I have a brother who is 4 years older and he would take me and we would watch a lot and play a little. The line for sf1 was always long. Nugget for the youngins. Sf1 had 2 arcade cabinets. One with two giant pressurized buttons one punch one kick. And how hard you hit it determined what strength attack came out. And then there was the traditional 6 button cabinet. Man I'm old lol

You bring up a good point. Will they get rid of charge inputs all together or will the character just sit there for a moment and then execute the move? It'll be weird if modern control types can pull off the moves instantly if classic players have to charge. Gonna be interesting to see how this works out.
Hopefully they try something like Fantasy Strike, where "charge" inputs require you to not hold forwards for a specific amount of time before you use them. If we change that to "hold down and/or back to charge up a gauge for the move" you get functionally the same move with a simpler input.
Love the new designs its seems to me that are moving Ken out of the way for luke and I dont like it 🤦♂️ but over all I'm pretty sure they have a story for Ken Cant wait to play it
I love the roster my only complaint is that there are no characters from Alpha/Zero or Third Strike. I guess my mains (Sakura and then Makoto) will all be DLC.But you got to love seeing new blood/characters in fighting games it’s important. I still got Akuma/Ryu but man it hurts not seeing your character(s) in base roster (The life of a Sakura Fan).
I feel your pain, she’s one of my mains and she had a cool legacy thing going but I’m sure they will release her in the DLC at some point. Sakura has a huge fan base.
I have no idea how this even happened. We literally got the first reveal less than 24 hours ago LMAO. Also, it seems this may not be all the characters, Li-Fen was in the trailer and isn't here for some reason. It also seems like it lacks a true boss character at the moment (maybe A.K.I or JP?)
I like this roster, even though I wish it didn't have that many SF2 characters in the base game. Still, you can see character progression in these new designs. Ryu is becoming more like Gouken & Oro, and Chun-Li is becoming more like Gen.
Street Fighter is always gonna have a sizable SF2 representation from now until the heat death of the universe. They’re never making the mistake again of not including enough of them after SF3 tried to do that and failed financially. And besides, we’re getting 8 brand new characters at launch, something we haven’t had since… well, SF3! So having the OGs bridge the gap to the new generation is all good with me. Makes it feel like Street Fighter

I find it hard to believe this is the whole roster. No Bison, no Sagat, no Vega.... not even a Balrog? Really? Aki and the Dapper guy are the only new characters I think have a cool new look the rest are kinda eh. Luke not included, I am fine with his design but he isn't new.
Shadaloo fell and Bison is dead. Makes total sense they’re not here. But they’ll most definitely be DLC and find a way to put Bison even though he’s dead.
Really worried about how Dhalism will look in the realistic artstyle. Seeing his stretchy muscles and body move might look disturbing. I think Necro would have been a better idea, because he can kind of benefit of the body horror, but I am still happy Dhalism got in. :)
It's a nice-looking roster so far! Definitely good to have the 8 world warriors as part of the base roster unlike the last game. I will happily try out Guile, Zangief, and maybe E.Honda, but hopefully the newcomers will fit in to this new game! ^^
That giant woman, I don't think it's a helmet. It looks like a Magneto helmet but I think it's actually her hair. Besides, I don't think we've ever had a Street Fighter character that's worn a helmet in a fight apart from a mod version of Akira keeping her helmet on after she gets off her bike.

I debated making the video but in the end 1) I am a news guy, people come to this channel for news so I would be letting you down if I didn't 2) there's no possible sweeping this under the rug now, its out there. Can't put the genie back into the bottle. Video speaks for itself, I will say overall my impressions are overwhelmingly positive, classic character redesigns are all homeruns across the board with no exceptions, and all the new characters look very interesting. Its a "bad" thing for capcom for this to happen, but in the end it will only build more positive hype!

22 characters on the base roster, that's a pretty decent amount. I imagine we'll get at least 2 season passes, adding 4-5 characters each. Like, we haven't seen Vega at all, and I expect him to be in the game. Unless he's just a cameo like Laura and Sean.
Going by the cycles SF games tend go by, I think we'll get at least 4 season passes. If SFV hadn't skipped a season, it'd have 6 passes. Then again, SFV got that 5th pass because SF6 ran into development problems. So I'll stick to 4. So the final roster will likely be 42 characters, if they don't throw in extras every now and then.

i absolutely love these designs. this leak has me more hyped than before. im starting to turn around on my initial reaction to the game and really digging the style (but seriously, Lukes joker smile keeps me up at night).

Sagat is no longer Shadowloo, he's basically an ally! 😄 I wish they'd write him in as part of the crew. He is one of the true originals with Ryu and Ken and has a nice character arc.

More speculations: Ryu's sash was the one worn by Oro. Jaime is Lee's (SF1) son, making him Yun & Yang's cousin. Li-Fen and Damnd are part of the roster. Haggar passed since he has a memorial in his honor. And yeah it seems that Ken has fallen through some tough times.

I honestly think that Sean is going to be DLC. I have a theory that Capcom will phase out Ryu and Ken as their sf mascots as they get older storywise, and phase in Luke and Sean(with a buff so he doesn't suck) instead.

they went ham with the redesigns, kept the core intact while making everything a lot cleaner and playing into each character's thematic. really looking forward to seeing them in game.

Really good size starting roster, especially for a game that doesn’t have an arcade version to build off.
I love most of the new characters and old character redesigns. Honda and Rashid look especially sick! Cammy less so, mostly because it’s kinda bland.
And while the new characters are all great designs, some are a little busy in terms of colours (the American girl especially, which is a shame because she’s super cool otherwise).
I like Cammys redesign personally.

And although I’m not one to want all women characters sexualized (I vastly prefer character designs like Makoto), I DO think Cammy’s butt is kind of a signature trait of her design. It’s as integral as her oversized gloves, pigtails, and having a military hat. So it’s a little odd to me that they’re ditching everything but her gloves, when they’ve been pretty good about preserving the “essence” of every other character’s design.
Not that it’s the end of the world lol. Just a design choice I wouldn’t have gone with.

YES YES YES redesigns are fantastic! Multiple new characters! New moves great soundtrack! THIS is the street fighter I've been wanting for years. It feels like were missing 3 characters though like how did sean, sakura, and Dudley NOT show up. I know they will be there for DLC but this would have been the perfect game for them.

I've always wondered if these leaks are intentional or not at this point. Gets publicity out there for free, gives them a chance to see if the fans out cry about a design sucking, so they can change it before too far in development.
Hard to know for sure, but the effects of this leak are literally as positive and beneficial as it ever could be for Capcom so they ain't too burnt up about it
After the disaster of SFV (at least up until the last season), I'm actually really hyped for this game. Robust single-player, solid roster, good gameplay, and rollback netcode will have me playing SF again.

Ken to me maybe going through a crisis of self possibly, no longer able to match Ryu he maybe decided to go out into the world with little and see if that is what he needs to better himself. That or he lost his fortune in multiple defamation claims against people calling out his banana hair!
The world Warriors being back in full proper is good, the returning 6 are a solid choice and range. Personally would of liked to see Dudley but not going to call that selection of 6 bad, real solid choices.
As for the 8 newcomers. Well, naturally I don't like Luke because he is a shoto but I will give him that he at least looks good here. Just looked out of place in 5 and the promo stuff we had before. Certainly a diverse roster that looks good overall and I look forward to seeing them showcase these characters in the future. Certainly interested in the Italian big lady, looks like she may be a Juggernaut style of character, at the very least she seems to carry the vibe of punching and punches HARD.

While I'm sad none of my wish list characters are in (yet), this is honestly a good looking base roster and I think all the new characters legit look interesting. Really eager to see how Mexico girl and suave Russia man is gonna play like.
I wish they added a redesign T.Hawk with revamped moveset with spirit-like projectiles inspired on the classic Pocahontas games in the SNES/Mega Drive, his story and connections to characters in the world is a lot more relevant than a wasted slot like Abigail for example...

Some characters that have been gags in the past are looking a lot more dignified in this concept art, which I'm a big fan of. Thinking of Zangief and Honda specifically here. We'll see if that holds up in their portrayal in-game.

I'm also glad to see Deejay return, i thought there was a very slim chance of him making the roster since he's not one of the more popular characters, glad to see him in, he's always been one of my favorites.

I wonder if in the upcoming DLC SEASON OF STREETFIGHTER 6 some of the characters from Streetfighter Alpha/Rival School's will be in here like Sean,Sakura,Makoto,Akira and Karin since it seems most of the World Warriors are here you have to put in a few of their students possibly as DLC since they didn't get into the base roster but all n all it's pretty decent roster size
Since you asked about the Mexico girl's clubs, and Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) history is one of my favorite topics: I'm sort of disappointed in her design: For starters, as you say, the club design is more Great Lake area, from what's now the United States and Canada. There ARE Mesoamerican maces/clubs with spherical heads, called Q/Cuauhololli in Nahuatl (the Aztec language, though "Aztec" is a imprecise term) but these are depicted with straight handles, to my knowledge (though there are OTHER types of Mesoamerican clubs with curved/angled handles). I think Capcom may have just googled it, since you do see a bunch of recreations with curved handles if you do that which AFAIK aren't based on any actual historical depiction. What's worse IMO is her clothing: It's not Mesoamerican or Indigenous Mexican (not all parts of Mexico are Mesoamerican) at all.
Her clothing is, for a lack of a better term, sort of just a generic blend of Native American motifs in general, like T-Hawk was. National sterotypes aren't new to SF, but I wish they'd at least be generic blends of the right nationality: She should be wearing something like a Huipil or a Quechquemitl (again, the Nahuatl terms, but the Mayas, Zapotecs, etc have their own for the garments), or some cool outfit based on them. I'm not gonna say Necalli was super well done or anything, but I liked his alternate outfit/super form where his skin gets like stone and turquioise, which was based on Mesoamerican mosiac masks and art.
Rooflemonger, you will be happy to know that Kotal Kahn still reigns supreme as the best designed Mesoamerican fighting game: Despite the lore calling him the Maya war god Buluc, he's a rather well done adapation of the Aztec war god Huitzliopotchli, having the diety's blue-green skin, with the War, Sun, and Blood attributes all tying into symbolism traditionally associated with the god: The myth of his birth where he is born fully armed and defeats his sister and brother is usually interpreted as allegory for the rise of the sun and the fall of the moon/stars every day/night; and the need for sacrifices of enemy soldiers to him was used by the Mexica of the Aztec captial to justify expansionism. His little snake daggers are based on Xiuhcoatl, a fire-solar/lightining snake wielded by the god as a weapon (some concept art even shows a cut move where the snake would come alive and light on fire to attack the enemy) and all his gear and move names in MK11 are based on Nahuatl/Aztec words, gods, military ranks, and kings. (I do wish his outfits were a bit more authentic though, and he should be transforing into a Hummingbird or at least an Eagle rather then a Jaguar)

The subject of Native American is very dangerous. I'm surprised that Capcom even dared to include this girl in the game. Inevitably activists will come running and say that the Japanese developers humiliated the Native American ethnicity and portrayed something wrong. The best move is not to include Native American in any game at all these days, so as not to offend anyone.
Hey appreciate the info dump! I know more about great lakes/ontario/quebec region as I am part native myself, and as soon as I saw the clubs I felt something was up there haha. I think a generic blend of motifs isn't bad though since you don't wanna necessarily focus on one tribe, especially if yours is fictional just like Nightwolf being "matoka". Happy my boy Kotal gets the seal of approval from someone who knows their stuff!
@@Rooflemonger I've actually really wanted to do a breakdown on Kotal's Mesoamerican influences for a while: I act as a consultant and help with scripts for various history and archeology channels (and done some collabs/outreach for the Pokken scene, but obv that's not MK), but none of them really cover those influences in games so I haven't had the opportunity. If that's something you'd be interested in let me know!
Re: blending influences, this is obviously just my opinion, but: I don't think that's inherently an issue, at least with media that doesn't take itself too seriously (like Mortal Kombat, which is why it's a pleasent suprise Kotal was well done, and why I focus on the things kotal does right rather then wrong) but I think Street Fighter's emphasis on nationality sort of makes more specific influences a bigger deal, especially since it's not like they're mixing different Mesoamerican civilizations inside Mexico together, but are using motifs from US-Canadian indigenous tribes and groups while labeling it as Mexican/with an ostensible Mesoamerican theme. Like the distance between the Great Lakes area and Mexico is comparable to the distance between Wester/Central Europe and parts of the Middle East.
Mexico wants more Ramon and Angel and less masked luchadores or Aztec dancer caricatures.
T. Hawk is cool because back in 93 he could be read as a Yaqui, a tribe that gets zero attention from either Mexico or USA. And his story shines a spotlight on the struggles frontier natives had to go through with two foreign groups showing up, tracing maps over their land and calling the people who had always been there "illegal immigrants".
Man, Capcom’s damage control team must be shitting themselves right now from all these leaks. I bet they had all these character reveals planned and everything leading up to the release next year, and here we are, big roster leak plus in game footage of Ken in another video. Either way, it’s going to be a long wait to be able to play this next year 🫤
Actually, we don’t know if this is the full roster. The earlier leaks mentioned 25 characters, one of them being Rose. We still have two more to look forward to besides her.

At first, I was confused as to what made Kimberly a "ninja-style" character, until I noticed the high-top shoes along with the red/yellow color scheme of her outfit. If Kimberly has some connection to Guy or the other Bushinryu fighters, then I might have a potential new main when the game comes out! OwO

This Cammy look is giving. While all of the designs are cool, some of them look quite similar to each other, either in color scheme and/or attire (Guile/Cammy/Ed). It's actually quite interesting that they didn't use green as the default for either Guile or Cammy.

I feel like there's something up with Zangief's artwork compared to the others. Like everything else is all detailed and has subtle colors and I feel like Zangief is just more of a PoC sketch. I dunno. Here's hoping there's more to him.
I do dig the fact that the roster is mostly new characters. However, I do wish Sean was a starting roster character. We've been waiting more than 20 years to see his redemption arc! Let's see a good Sean again!

I definitely like the mix of female and male new characters. It’s pretty dope too that they are making these characters unique like usf4. Hopefully everyone is useable and not everyone just picks one character
After what happened in SFV im not surprised Vega is gone, he was a fun character but like even i have to admit that he would probably still be broken if added into SF6, still hope he does eventually get added.

I have a brother who is 4 years older and he would take me and we would watch a lot and play a little. The line for sf1 was always long. Nugget for the youngins. Sf1 had 2 arcade cabinets. One with two giant pressurized buttons one punch one kick. And how hard you hit it determined what strength attack came out. And then there was the traditional 6 button cabinet. Man I'm old lol

You bring up a good point. Will they get rid of charge inputs all together or will the character just sit there for a moment and then execute the move? It'll be weird if modern control types can pull off the moves instantly if classic players have to charge. Gonna be interesting to see how this works out.
Hopefully they try something like Fantasy Strike, where "charge" inputs require you to not hold forwards for a specific amount of time before you use them. If we change that to "hold down and/or back to charge up a gauge for the move" you get functionally the same move with a simpler input.

I love the roster my only complaint is that there are no characters from Alpha/Zero or Third Strike. I guess my mains (Sakura and then Makoto) will all be DLC.But you got to love seeing new blood/characters in fighting games it’s important. I still got Akuma/Ryu but man it hurts not seeing your character(s) in base roster (The life of a Sakura Fan).
Maybe some of the new characters gameplay will look interesting and make up for it.
I feel your pain, she’s one of my mains and she had a cool legacy thing going but I’m sure they will release her in the DLC at some point. Sakura has a huge fan base.

I like this roster, even though I wish it didn't have that many SF2 characters in the base game.
Still, you can see character progression in these new designs. Ryu is becoming more like Gouken & Oro, and Chun-Li is becoming more like Gen.
Street Fighter is always gonna have a sizable SF2 representation from now until the heat death of the universe. They’re never making the mistake again of not including enough of them after SF3 tried to do that and failed financially.
And besides, we’re getting 8 brand new characters at launch, something we haven’t had since… well, SF3! So having the OGs bridge the gap to the new generation is all good with me. Makes it feel like Street Fighter

It's a nice-looking roster so far! Definitely good to have the 8 world warriors as part of the base roster unlike the last game. I will happily try out Guile, Zangief, and maybe E.Honda, but hopefully the newcomers will fit in to this new game! ^^

That giant woman, I don't think it's a helmet. It looks like a Magneto helmet but I think it's actually her hair. Besides, I don't think we've ever had a Street Fighter character that's worn a helmet in a fight apart from a mod version of Akira keeping her helmet on after she gets off her bike.
