I have always seen the men in my life with tools between my great grandpa, grandpas, uncles, dad, and my brother. I personally am new to tools. I stared with Hart when I needed a drill to put together a wooden desk. I didn't know there was a difference between brushed and brushless, or that bits, extenders, blades, etc are kind of replaceable. The first time a bit broke I thought my set was done. I was ready to go buy a whole set so I had my whole set. I am so thankful for my Honey! He explained everything to me. Now I am a Dewalt Girl! Keep the reviews coming! They are super helpful!
I love the shake test on these tool kits. I hate when u get a set like this and the sockets go everywhere. Very nice job on the video keep up the good work!!!
I got the Versastak for my brother. He helped me out a lot earlier this year with some family stuff, plus, I’m tired of going over to help him out with something and he doesn’t have the right tool. I think Craftsman is on the right track and I’m hoping their warranty (should he need it) is going to be an easy process. If Ace or Lowes won’t do it, Craftsman claims on the website that it’s easy and no questions asked.
@@projectkarr Well, they are opening a plant over here in Fort Worth. They’re supposed to be making sockets and (I believe) ratchets there. We’ll see how that goes.
@@JakeNaughtFromStateFarm I saw that and their add saying “Chroming Soon.” Seems like they will most likely be finishing tools instead of actually making them. Hopefully I’m wrong.
I’m sure the warranty process would be similar to Gearwrench. Have to wait a while for your socket when compared to: Tekton, Craftsman, Husky, Kobalt etc they are much easier to swap.
I like some of the Hart features but disappointed the wrench set did not include a 13mm. After all its a popular size and they did could have subtracted the double Allen keys.
@@Dan_711 I must have been in a daze on the doubling up on the Allen Keys and forgot about no spart plug socket. Maybe it's a starter mechanic set for Tesla owners?
This is a great set to just throw in the back of my truck and keep just in case. If someone breaks down and needs tools, I've got them and not too worried if they get stolen or even worse, break. Decent starter set for my son as well to learn with.
Hey cool review. Just wanted to let you know about Hart and there warranty. I bought there 68 piece impact driver set for my DCF 840. And the half inch socket adapter snapped like a twig first time using it. Kinda bummed me out. Called Hart to see if I could get just the new adapter, and they sent me a whole new set! I was like cool thanks! I told them they could just send me a new adapter and I would have been happy. So they seem legit with their warranty. And I received the replacement set in a couple of days. That Craftsmen set is nice, been eye'n the gunmetal set my self at Lowes.
Yeah, one of the things that makes me like the gear wrench set that I'm thinking of getting that similar in size, after looking at your review is the fact that I can open one drawer and probably break something loose for a bolt. Bolt. Yeah, you're not going to always need the screwdriver for your sockets but a lot of times it's really all you need is to just break something loose and then loosen it by hand. And sometimes pulling out a whole set to to do that is a little bit much when you have to open up 2 to 3 drawers to get what you need to get.
I've been eyeing that craftsman set since last year partially because I have tstak and versastack ( same thing) boxes. I've been hearing thinks about for with that set not fitting the rest. I plan to take one of my boxes with me to try it out.
Great vids bud! Just bought this, and I’ve been wondering whether it was a good buy or not. I saw the Husky set today and I like it. I think I’ll keep the Hart because of the 90 vs 72 tooth ratchets. The lack of wrenches is sad, the double allen wrenches is kind of disgusting. Oh well, $98!
I wanna see that custom set. I wound up getting the gearwrech 232 set. I like it so far. I got some of my other tools on sale, but ive been trying to pick up some quality tools that will be used often.
@@projectkarr in liking the ratcheting of the Wrenches, but i do understand what you mean by not having that slight bend on them. I gotta try them out more, but i found the ratcheting ends to be less snug, but that also couldve been me not using the right size.
I have enjoyed the Hart lawn tools and some of there hand tools. For DIY, they have a good set up if you know what to look for. I have bought some of there tools and have enjoyed using them.
Thanks for the review. I don’t know which one to get. I want a tool set with a good box and a lot of sockets, and not screwdrivers bits. Looks like Craftsman 216 is the winner, but all out of stock in my area.
Thanks for the doing these types of video. I really like that Craftsman tool box kit. Wish it had the 6 point 1/2 sockets buy for that price it makes sense.
Agree with the Walmart comments. I would rather go to either Home Depot or Lowes for a swap out. Thanks for the review appreciate you doing these. How is the truck doing any new vids on that coming out?
Hyper tough seems to be of a much lower quality and only has a 5 year limited warrantee. I’d personally spend the extra money for Hart knowing it has a lifetime warrantee.
I went into Home Depot to see what was left over since Black Friday & man there ain’t much for tools all the husky kits are gone & only the gearwrench set is there, needless to say I left with a Christmas tree 😅
Good review. Seen these on sale at my local Walmart and been trying to see if anyone uses them with success. Kinda trust the craftsman box more and it’s on sale at the same price right now.
Hart tools are pretty decent, I have some smaller sets from them and they’re not too shabby. Like PKarr said, warranty although lifetime, is probably going to be a pain to deal with.
Bought a black friday tool deal from Home Depot I got the DeWalt 226 piece mechanics tool set in the Toughsystem tool box. Had an issue right out of the gate with the lowest tray that holds the deep sockets being broken when I opened the tool box. And then found out that DeWalt does not warranty the trays only the tools in the tray also the toolbox is not covered under the factory warranty. Home Depot did make it right by giving me a partial refund for the damaged box as they were out of stock of the tool sets and were unsure of when they would get more so I will have to see if I can repair the tray with some epoxy. Overall I am happy with the set based on how complete it is and the small amount of filler that was included with the box.
@@projectkarr Wish I could post the pictures I took of the damage but not able to on here. The tray was broken into 4 pieces. The tray had the entire center section busted out of it and the center part was broken into 2 pieces so it was a bit of a jig saw puzzle to get back into the proper position but I now have it epoxied back together so I will see how it works once the epoxy fully sets and cures. I will put the sockets back into the tray in the morning after allowing a few hours for the epoxy to fully setup.
I've been following your CV series of videos reviewing the tool sets with great interest. I have a set I've cobbled together over the years, but it has some gaping holes (zero metric half inch sockets, etc.) I was considering filling it out with the small, specific sets of the tools I need. but it was nearly as expensive as one of these sets. The downside of buying one of these sets is I would end up with duplicates and triplicate of tools I never use as well as paying for filler. Then, I got an impact ratchet (35 ft. lbs.) that came with admonitions to only use impact sockets because chrome sockets could shatter under an impact load. Personally, I think that could be avoided with some skilled and judicious use of the impact, but I'm not sure. So I am considering purchasing a full set of impacts rather than one of these sets, to use as my primary kit. Is this practical? I know the impacts are more expensive. After hearing you speak about Tekton, i decided I wanted to get some into my set, and Amazon has some great deals on the Tekton impacts, especially the 3/8". Makita has the best (and only?) deal that i could find on the 1/4" drive impacts and Dewalt has a smoking deal (comes with heavy duty 1/2" ratchet, adapter ,and extension)on the 1/2" drive impacts. I could put together a decent set for just under $200. Again, is this practical, or am I overlooking some issues that would arise from using impacts as my primary set? I do DIY home and auto. Thanks for this series. I've found your channel to be the best place to find out exactly what's in these sets, to have a good look at them without visiting the store, and to get your educated opinion about their quality. Sorry about the length of this, I had a lot stored up.
Great comment and it’s very clear you’re doing some research. 35 ft. Lbs. is very low and would have a low probably of anything happening to a chrome socket. I’ve used chrome sockets with 350+ ft lb impacts with no issues (although I do not recommend that). As far as using only impact sockets, the only real downside is they will typically have thicker walls than chrome sockets so there’s a chance you run into fasteners you can’t fit them on if you’re in a tight space. Currently Tekton doesn’t have 1/4” impacts and dewalt/makita are great choices. One question is do you need metric and SAE or just metric? Since impacts are more expensive you could go all Metric to save a little. Pittsburgh impact sockets would work and come in just metric or SAE. Also they have one of the better lifetime warrantees if you live near a harbor freight. Sorry for the long reply but hopefully that helps a little.
@@projectkarr Thanks for the detailed response.if you have something to add, please do, as I value your opinion. I personally went with the craftsman 216 piece set but the Pittsburgh 225 is really a great set too. Can’t go wrong with either. I’d wait for the Black Friday deals which should start in a month or so
@@projectkarr Thanks for the response. I really like the Hart stack system, and would love for them to offer a tool kit similar to the Craftsman, which is compatible with their similar Versastack system. I also wish Husky made a decent tool kit to go with their stack system, which I also like. I really enjoy your reviews. Helps narrow down my choices.
This would work as a starter or truck set for the price.
I really appreciate this review I’ve been super curious about how the hart sets are. Considering they are a lot of pieces for the money I was hoping they were decent quality because of affordability
I too was curious as well since I don’t have any Hart tools. They are definitely missing some stuff like spark plug sockets and larger wrenches but they seem like pretty nice quality.
@@projectkarr this was the last set i wanted to look into before investing into craftsman I like their tools very much from what I've seen.
@@projectkarr my dad has old craftsman from sears. ive always liked the name but now looking at your reviews im starting to think im going to like the tools themselves. after christmas im going to hopefully start my craftsman collection.
Not as bad as I thought it would be.
Totally agree. It was worth the trip to Walmart and that's something ill rarely say.
Nice review. Hart has some decent homeowner quality tools. That is their target market.
Yep exactly. Skipping spark plug sockets shows they probably aren’t going after the diy/mechanic crowd haha.
Just got the walmart 270 set, during black friday online sure didn't want to deal with people inside the store it's always high stress going in lol 😬
Hello! I would like to get one and ship it internationally. Do you know how much it weights with all the tools?
It should be close to 34lbs or around 15 kilos.
Great review in your series.
Nice review again thx
i just got this a week ago for 79.00 was a great buy.
I haven't used any but hart looks like they have some decent stuff. That layout is pretty random though
Craftsman VersaStack is a nice tool set.
great review helps on making a decision on to purchase the set
Thanks for the information on the hart tools.
You’re welcome!
I think I would pass on this set personally. For someone who is in Walmart and wants a quick set it really isn't the worst I've seen. Makes me miss a lot of the old Stanley sets Walmart carried
I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure these are decent quality but I really had a soft spot for the black and white tool sets they had.
Your so right man I miss the Stanley ones
I dont know what you mean by smooth ratchets what they are greased well?Saying they are smoothe doesnt tell me anything about them.To me they look on par with any tekton ratchet or any other taiwan made tools.
Nice set thanks for posting this
Thanks for the reviews
We appreciate your feedback on our mech set!
You're welcome
I want to win the set
Nice video… took your advice and went with tekton.
Great review
