  • This week on Helicopter ER, the airborne medics respond when a woman is trapped in the wreckage of her car after skidding on ice, and yet another jockey is thrown from her horse.
    Strap in and fire up the helicopter engines for the most adrenaline-packed medical rescue missions you've ever seen on TV. This popular British series takes viewers into the cockpits of ER choppers to experience life or death dramas, high-speed action and colourful characters. The missions are often the only hope for the critically ill or badly injured in England's most unreachable landscapes.

    It's kind of amazing what just stepping on a slippery surface can do to an ankle. When I was in my 30's, I stepped on glare ice and broken both bones in my ankle and snapped the tendon that encircles the bones. I was taken to the very small local hospital, splinted and given pain meds, then sent to the nearest big hospital where I was told there were no beds available. From there, I was taken to a hospital near where I lived. They were going to put on a temporary cast and send me home until they could work me in. I started to cry and told them I wasn't going anywhere. They looked at the x-ray and someone said, "Oh, Jeez!" They admitted me and operated first thing in the morning. I fell at 4:00 in the afternoon and didn't get into a hospital bed until midnight. That's the US for you.

      I'm sorry you had to go through that, but you're right, that's the US.

    I absolutely love this show, more than you could possibly know. Because of this show I met with a Flight for Life nurse where I live in Colorado and now I'm looking into paramedic school. :)

    I remember being in 3rd grade a breaking 2 ribs by falling off of an 8 foot high platform. Went to the hospital and they were relieved to see my spleen was okay. However, they sent me home to heal with no pain relief whatsoever. That was EXCRUCIATING.

    Very interesting indeed. Loved seeing the Flying Scotsman. I've always been fascinated by that famous locomotive. Years ago I had an HO scale model of Flying Scotsman from Triang-Horby.

    I can concur on the ribs being one of the most painful injuries- and what sucks is that there is nothing they can do about it. Just has to heal by itself. In my case, I smashed 4 of my ribs in a horse riding accident when I was 18- I'm 40 now and I STILL feel the pain there. Makes wearing a bra an absolute nightmare.

    @real responders I'm a little bit confused🤐🙄
    why are you using for trauma patients morphine as a analgesic?!???
    Using Ketamine or/with Fentanyl would much more effective.....

    • @stefanieebling2785
      @stefanieebling2785 Год назад

      Beacuse typically you start with weaker medicine like morphine even tylenol in some cases and then build to ketamine or fentanyl if the morphine isnt enough
