- In this episode we look at the EGR and blanking it off effectively. We'll show you what is involved with fitting a blanking plate and the parts that are involved. There is always an alternative to fitting the plate on the 300tdi engine and we show you how. Only at LRTV!!!
You videos are pure gold!
When i grow up and earn more money i want to donate some to you.
Cheers, Glad you like them
Hope you are well.
if the egr valve is blocked, what does the ECU then control or do. can it removed please
The oil in the manifold is coming from either the turbo seals or the crankcase ventilation feed.
Hellow i am a mechanical im a work at land rover dealer garage at tanzani used your video to rean more thank you
ah, okay. Good to hear.
Hi i am looking for a friend that i can share land rover problems with him/her inoder to improve my work my whatsupp no 0759088117
Best Guide to this job EVER... really covered all the angles and it should be in a bible of sorts... ;)
rofl. I believe land Rover have release many scriptures already ... bless you my son :D

As long as you don't ask me to kiss your ring we're all good!
Matt Allen nah,.... you'd burn your lips.....
*****
Good curry was it?
Ass - etylene mix
do you need to do some software modification or just take out the egr and block the vacuum?
Thanks for your demo of 300Tdi engine
where would the oil be coming from , to oil up the inlet manifold etc , how much of a problem is it . great vid again
Excellent video. Question for you: is it possible to adapt cruise control tu a 2008 DEFENDER SW ?
GREAT VIDEO, thank you! however I have one question, in the part of the video 9:59 you have mentioned the oil in the inlet of the turbo.... What might be the problem if the oil is in the inlet of the turbo please? thank you.
All turbos let oil through over a long period of time. If coming through from the air filter it will be related to crank case pressure and the fact the breather / cyclone unit . Turbo diesel engines have pressure issues and it is quite common to find oil can be pushed through the breathers. If there is a good quantity of oil then perhaps the piston rings are worn
Which breather pipes need blanking?
another good video keep them coming
Hello, very nice work, I see that you use alot of snap on tools, where do you buy them ?
Did you find where the oil is coming from? I noticed the same issue with my 300tdi when I was blanking the EGR. Oil in inlet manifold.. source unknown.
breather I am thinking because the turbo is okay.
Sadly law changed May 2018. Blanks, bypasses and emulators are now a Fail regardless of when fitted. Down to how good/bad/blind the tester is
hello , i want to blank off the EGR of my discovery 3 2007 , is it obligatory to make remapping on the ECU? , if not m that could effect bad on the engin ?
+Khalid Elass Ah with those engines you will need to get someone who knows how to switch off the EGR programming in the ECU otherwise you will have fault codes come up all the time. Talk to Alive Tuning about this.
Hi I'm thinking about doing this to my 05 defender td5. What to I do with electrics and control unit? Just remove them?
Thanks
as an 05 defender you'll have two vac servos, I left the vac pipes in place and blanked them off. you can then disconnect the electrical connections from the EGR controls.
Will blanking the egr off where you have at the end of the video make a difference to the performance of the engine ?
Over time yes, - because it stops all that soot collecting with the oil in the inlet tract and gumming it all up. some 300tdi's suffer really badly from choked inlet manifolds.
Land Rover Toolbox Videos cheers
You're welcome bud.
What are the benefits of this and would it be worth doing to my 02 TD5?
Same as every other engine. no crap in the inlet manifold clogging it up. Crisper response and slightly better performance.
Must do it so:-)
I'll be doing our new family Freelander at the weekend. EGR has made a real mess of the engine.
+Gareth Ga Wilmott I have a Renault laguna 1.9 DCI (TD) 120 bhp 05 plate, I've got a EGR valve on mine, the reasons I've blanked mine off is as the egr gets clogged it sends crap to the turbo and buggers it up, also I had a major issue on the M4 going to work when the check injector light came up (EGR) and the car went into limp mode straight from 70mph to 40mph in the fast lane wasn't fun at all :(, so I have had mine blanked off - no problems whatsoever and she is more responsive and more fuel efficient as well, plus it passes MOT emissions first time each time, mind you that may be down to the fuel I use (shell fuelsave diesel 100%), I would definitely recommend it mate :)
Hi,I have Laguna 1.9DCi 74kw from 2003...Where I should put the blanking metal plate? Instead of upper part of EGR(the electronic-sensor) and leave the rest of mechanic part of EGR-valve in closed position?
will it reduce the black smoke..??
Black smoke is the result of incorrect combustion of the fuel.
i have got a 300tdi and it emits a fair amount of black smoke when changing gears and when accelerating, any advice ..??
So my car has already had this done, I am wounding about the ecu under the middle seat of my defender. Can that all be removed now?
Simon Bennett it shouldn't effect the 300tdi if it is missing.
good video. tech
Yes law has changed thanks to the EU, Failed MOT today and been told to refit EGR valve.
Were all 300tdi discovery's fitted with egr valve ?
The early ones didn't have EGR.
EU has no input regarding mot tests
@@simoncoe9344 yes they did…
Change the battery in your smoke detector.
lol
Haha, its in a few of your videos, that beep noise. Took me while to sort out what it was.
We had to have new smoke alarms. That was a while back now. Batteries are holding out on these ones.
You sure do dribble on a bit mate just say and show what your headline vid says.
Well. you know if you don't like it, you know where you can go......
He's giving detailed instructions and fantastic advice across all of his videos. If you're not willing to learn why are you watching a how to video?
