  • If you're catching bubbles it's because you're trapping air in the cavity. You gotta get the air out. There's just no way around it. And the easiest way to do that is to position the mold cavity in space so that it will fill with resin and vent the air out easily.

Great content. Absolute valuable knowledge, as always. I really like the paper cut visualizations to explain things hard to understand for people who has trouble imagining a 3D object and rotating it in their mind.

    Excellent teaching as always, Robert!
I've wanted to do resin casting for a while and I picked up a little $5 kit when I was out shopping recently, it has some 2 part resin and simple premade molds, and it actually worked, I was so pleased! I thought for sure it wouldn't, it seemed super suspect since it was so cheap. I'm so excited to eventually try making my own molds, I'll definitely be following your advice / videos for it.

I always love your videos, and these color paper illustrations are great! I have something I've wrestled with that I would love to see you do a video on at some point... If you have multiple sprues at different depths, is it still okay/possible to do a one-cut mold? When I have done this, I always have trouble removing the resin from the sprue channels and figuring out how to cut those appropriately.

I was thinking a lot about SLA printing when I was watching this. I wonder what parallels there are between making printing supports and vents/sprues. Obviously, with the printer you have to deal with the suction and peel forces, whereas for casting it's all in compression. But you're still dealing with fluid dynamics, so breaking sharp edges does double duty.

You may get this a lot but where do you get the tools and supplies when you make the vents for the models, wax etc? Thank you for teaching me news ways to mold.

This is as always Robert amazing content. I do 3d printing, and orientation is also super important in that field as well. For pretty much the same reasons. We want to save detail to the important faces of the piece. I love watching your channel, it gives me so many ideas. Thanks as always for sharing. Great video.

    Hello
I have seen your videos and I have a question.
How do you resin cast the shape like boots?
I have a doll boots (like a GI Joe Boots) that I would like to replicate but I haven't figured out how to do it.
The boots inside is hollow so that the doll can actually wear it.
I have see your hollow casting but that seem too overkill for small parts like that.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!😀

Hey Robert I'm sure you got a video on it already but I can't find it haha anyway I'm trying to figure out how to cast something. It's a handle for a pair of pliers. In your opinion how would you go about it being a hollow object with a hole only on one end. Thanks!!

Hi Robert, I have a question regarding this video. I have poured resin in multiple pours like you describe but you can see the lines on the cast where the different pours meet. Is there a way to prevent these lines?

That's a fairly loaded question for this channel (there's a multi-part series you can find). You can try slush or roto casting, but it won't be easy
