I was lucky enough to see SDRE perform back in 2000. Jeremy ended up smashed his guitar during “Seven” because his guitar strings kept snapping. What an incredible show... I wish I had a time machine so I could experience it all over again.
@@nimblebimble Conor, I can't wait to catch them... I didn't think I'd ever get to experience after the great albums they had after the rising tide... we're incredibly lucky ❤
That Sunny Day went into the studio and live recorded Diary, AND are touring on it is FECKING INCREDIBLE. This return is worthy of a show in the heart of downtown in Pioneer Square, which holds a thousand people. Mere blocks from where I saw them in June ‘94 at the Satyricon, touring on this album. A PNW triumph for the ages!
Imagine what Grohl would do if he saw that comment. 😆 I love Dave Grohl and he’s one of the greatest drummers/rock song writers of all time… but man he’s delusional when thinking certain people aren’t up to par. He did Goldsmith dirty.
@@AV-bz2zv Goldsmith wasn't playing the way he wanted them played on the record. You have to remember FF was basically his solo project until he brought in outside musicians. It was Dave's music and he wanted it done a certain way in the studio. Goldsmith could've stayed on to play live, Dave said so, but he chose not to. That's on him. He wouldn't have brought him in in the first place if he didn't respect him as a drummer. He's developed into a far-right Q Anon follower anyway fuck him.
@@RedMcc - No, it was the producer (Gil Norton) and the label who did William dirty - expecting him to be able to record an album when he was still carrying an injury from the tour (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome). Where Dave fucked up (by his own admission) was not explaining the situation to William upfront because he didn't know how to.
@@AV-bz2zv are you fucking kidding me, grohls band sucks. the worst thing about the other guy dying is that the tall drummer started writing his own shitty songs

I remember watching this as a kid!! Jon Stewart always had the best musical guests like these guys, Helmet, Slayer, Manson, and many other amazing performances. Sunny Day Real Estate are like prog mixed with grunge. They are so amazing.
heard this song on a snowboarding video on espn around 3 am in 1994? i was immediately hooked. I was a super fan ever since. Saw them (finally) this april in Pittsburg ( A 9 HOUR ROUND TRIP) with my daughter and it was AMAZING!
@@vDeadbolt There are interviews out there, but they are indeed rare. Especially rare to have the whole band. Jeremy did more of such things after he started putting out solo work.
Am I the only one that cut excited at the Blue Screen VHS “Play” Cut? Or am I the only one that hid Emmanuelle videos from Cinemax in between episodes of 120 Minutes, Headbanger’s Ball, and Sifl and Olly???
I really great live performance. Too bad whoever engineered this one couldn't get Dan and Jeremy's guitars mixed right. The bass and drums sound really good. But the guitars are not mixed right. You can hear every single note Nate and William are playing. Jeremy's vocals are coming thru pretty clear too. But the guitars are pretty messy. I can't say I blame them. It was the 90's.

Just saw these guys in San Francisco 2 nights ago!! 30 years I've been waiting to see them! They crushed it! Including this song.
jeremy sounds so good here, much better than the 120 minutes imo
I miss when rock sounded like this, it just felt more raw and real

Probably a big part of the reason Grohl picked him to play in the Foos, come to think of it. Dave also whacks the skins really hard.

Their early stuff yes but their later stuff had no grunge sound at all. The Rising Tide is a masterpiece of music.
this band is emo mixed with alternative rock and indie
Neither prog nor grunge my dude.
Saw them perform DIARY in its entirety last night at Irving Plaza NYC. They sounded incredible 👏
This song never gets old! I still love it all these years later. They're def underrated
They're starting the second leg of their US tour in December. They still got it
