Honestly I'm not exaggerating when I say Kintsugi is one of the best songs ever written. so compelling. so personal. so hopeful. so beautiful. her lyrics are just so sharp on kintsugi.... everything written with so much intention. i really can't compliment Kintsugi enough.
The reason for that is cuz her love for poetry and it’s her personal experiences. So she knows exactly how to say things and the way to deliver to them. And for that she is amazing. ❤️

This whole album is so poetic it definitely takes another listen to fully take in all the lyrics and hear the stories being told by Lana. After having it on repeat it is one of my fav albums, it’s such an honest album and a transformative side of Lana.

Lana has also released three new songs since this album a vault track titled say yes to heaven , and two songs with her father Lost At Sea and Hollywood Bowl. We would love one video on all three of those!

Do not listen to that song if you’re having relationships problems cuz I absolutely balled my eyes out! I was hollering and punching the bed cuz those lyrics just hit me soo deep! I think that song helped me make a decision that will hurt in the short term but will ultimately make me happier so thanks Queen Mother 😘.
After norman lana really turned her music to the internal side of herself… and the fact that she has made an album so deeply personal that speaks to so many people… talk about speaking your own language in a way everyone understands. Such a masterful artist.
Antonoff gets so much shit (and I have my problems with some of his work as well), but I honestly think he’s the best thing to happen to Lana. Whenever they collaborate, I feel like we’re getting Lana’s authentic and best self and he brings out something in her that makes her truly ethereal and goddess-like. And this is coming from someone whose been a fan since Born to Die.

I think the interludes are very strong and can feel uncomfortable because of the subject matter. I force myself to listen to them because she included them as part of the narrative, and honestly, I understand them more and more every time I listen to them. The entire album is a masterpiece.

She rivaled Virginia Woolf with her stream of consciousness writing. When I first listened to it, I didn't necessarily like it, but I kept listening to it because I felt like there was something under the surface. Then after like 20 listens I was sobbing uncontrollably. Lana said it's a bad song but I completely disagree. It's one of her most personal and heart wrenching.

this album is beyond a masterpiece. I truly wasn't expecting this but I rank it as my 2nd favourite Lana album. moved me in ways I can't even describe. The Grants. Sweet. Candy Necklace. Kintsugi. Fingertips. PARIS TEXAS. LET THE LIGHT IN!!!! I get so emotional just thinking about the album
kintsugi is a metaphor of a japanese art style of creating pottery and then cracking it to pieces, but then putting it back together and most times painting the cracks with gold paint. the judah smith interlude was more of a artistic vision then a song that was meant to be enjoyed, it’s a sermon about lust and not being faithful and it’s placement right after A&W was very much intentional. fingertips was basically a spoken poem that is very personal to lana, as she sings about her family, her past suicide attempts, and more.

Fingertips is pure poetry made in a song. So far is my favorite with Kintsugi. I've been a Lana's fan for almost a decade and when you know what she have been through, Fingertips hits different to the point that you can feel her pain. First I heard it i cried so bad.
Same here especially how it referenced back to “This Is What Makes Us Girls” and her being sent away. I can def empathize with that whole experience being traumatic.
The piano in Paris, Texas is actually the exact same composition as SYML’s song I Wanted to Leave*. That’s why they were featured. Lana just added new lyrics to the already existing song. very cool!

I know everyone doesn't want a pastor yelling at you for 4 minutes, but fucking hell the instrumentals on both interludes are way so good, I dare to say that the instrumentals are better than some of the instrumentals on actual songs in the album. I love it from beginning to end tho, one of my favorite albums for sure.

Surprisingly the song I keep coming back to the most in this album is Fingerprints. Maybe it's bc I'm going through shit rn but the amount of tragedy in that song is unparalleled. Each line hits you hard but the one that stuck with me is when she was singing about astral projecting to hold the ghost of a loved one and watch tv with them while comforting them. That shit hurts.

I feel like Margaret is a song between friends in which a guy friend (Jack Antonoff) opened up to Lana about his quarrel with his fiance (Margaret) whether if he should fight or give it up and Lana keeps giving him advices (when your love is in trouble, you're old enough, so you'll know what to do...).
It is actually about what falling in love feels like, and an homage to how Jack felt when he first met Margaret Qualley. And the answer is literally “when you know you know”. If you have to ask yourself how do you know, then the answer is no. Because you just know. “You gotta run like your head is on fire” is the actual feeling. And “your love is in trouble” is actually ironic. When Jack first met Margaret he though “I might be in trouble” because he just knew she was his woman. “When you know you know and when you’re old you’re old” actually means that just as you take being old for granted, it is the same as knowing that you’re in love.
Let me explain y’all.. I was NOT expecting this album to make me cry, but oh damn it did. I was waiting on you to come back because I just knew you would love it as much as I did, it was hopeful and sad and beautiful, Lana was healing and you can tell.
this is one of those albums that keep growing on you more and more with each listen-its currently my favorite from her. This album is such an emotional journey from start to finish you get so engrossed in it. so many gems along the way. arguably some of her rawest darkest and most delicate work to date. gorgeous.
The first time I listened to this album I was on a flight to California and honestly that was just the right mindset I needed cause lawd seeing the clouds as I drowned by her beautiful voice it was amazing

In Kintsugi she’s singing about her uncle and grandmother passing away. I lost my grandma last year and I this song hit me hard. No song has ever made me cry so hard

"Where the hell was Tommy?" got me in tears 😂 The fact that Ajayii did not realize the chorus is actually a sample from canadian rapper Tommy Genesis is interesting. It is mostly due to the two songs before with musicians/bands playing along with Lana's voice, and also Ajayii is clearly not familiar with TG. It's like if Lana used a spell on her through the album in a way to leave her confused and mezmerised at the same time.

Just like Lana's music helps me to cope with my depression, Ajay's reactions are the perfect antidote for my sadness. Damn, your reaction was beyond entertaining! I think this might be my favorite album of hers. At the very least, it's pretty close to NFR in my ranking. "The Grants" and "A&W" completely destroyed me in a way that I wasn't expecting. I have to say, i feel this is my favorite album of hers because of how honest she is here on a personal level. when i first heard fingertips i felt like she was laying her head on my lap and i was caressing her hair while she told me what happened. especially bc it released right after the billboard event where she said that she's truly happy now. she told us a lot of bad things that happened to her, that r*** and the bad relationship with her mother, she said a lot in lives during the release week as well, and i honestly thought "she lived all those things and still can be happy after all of that, why cant i be happy" and i've been struggling with depression for years now, i feel like the album really touched my heart as much as it has shown us hers

I think the sermon in the Interlude adds a lot context to the album. He is preaching about lust and jealousy but then ends the sermon by confessing he is mostly preaching to himself. I think it's Lana's way of saying she is writing about HERSELF. Not a character, like so many critics and fans think.

She rivaled Virginia Woolf with her stream of consciousness writing. When I first listened to it, I didn't necessarily like it, but I kept listening to it because I felt like there was something under the surface. Then after like 20 listens I was sobbing uncontrollably. Lana said it's a bad song but I completely disagree. It's one of her most personal and heart wrenching.

kintsugi is a metaphor of a japanese art style of creating pottery and then cracking it to pieces, but then putting it back together and most times painting the cracks with gold paint. the judah smith interlude was more of a artistic vision then a song that was meant to be enjoyed, it’s a sermon about lust and not being faithful and it’s placement right after A&W was very much intentional. fingertips was basically a spoken poem that is very personal to lana, as she sings about her family, her past suicide attempts, and more.
She’s literally incredible

Surprisingly the song I keep coming back to the most in this album is Fingerprints. Maybe it's bc I'm going through shit rn but the amount of tragedy in that song is unparalleled. Each line hits you hard but the one that stuck with me is when she was singing about astral projecting to hold the ghost of a loved one and watch tv with them while comforting them. That shit hurts.

It is actually about what falling in love feels like, and an homage to how Jack felt when he first met Margaret Qualley. And the answer is literally “when you know you know”. "Where the hell was Tommy?" got me in tears 😂
The fact that Ajayii did not realize the chorus is actually a sample from canadian rapper Tommy Genesis is interesting.
It is mostly due to the two songs before with musicians/bands playing along with Lana's voice, and also Ajayii is clearly not familiar with TG.
It's like if Lana used a spell on her through the album in a way to leave her confused and mezmerised at the same time.
I have no clue who Tommy is either lol

I think this might be my favorite album of hers. At the very least, it's pretty close to NFR in my ranking. "The Grants" and "A&W" completely destroyed me in a way that I wasn't expecting. I also love how "Kintsugi" and "Fingertips" feel like a stream of consciousness story in a song format. This album is a masterpiece!
I have to say, i feel this is my favorite album of hers because of how honest she is here on a personal level. when i first heard fingertips i felt like she was laying her head on my lap and i was caressing her hair while she told me what happened. especially bc it released right after the billboard event where she said that she's truly happy now. she told us a lot of bad things that happened to her, that r*** and the bad relationship with her mother, she said a lot in lives during the release week as well, and i honestly thought "she lived all those things and still can be happy after all of that, why cant i be happy" and i've been struggling with depression for years now, i feel like the album really touched my heart as much as it has shown us hers

I don‘t think she was actually r****, I think it‘s more about how in general a lot of the time ppl doubt the credibility of women who are victims and therefore a lot of the time they don‘t press charges „if I told you that I was r**** do really think that anybody would think I didn‘t ask for it“

I think the sermon in the Interlude adds a lot context to the album. He is preaching about lust and jealousy but then ends the sermon by confessing he is mostly preaching to himself. I think it's Lana's way of saying she is writing about HERSELF. Not a character, like so many critics and fans think.
