- A block sits on a rough, level surface and is connected by a string that runs over a pulley to a hanging block.
Walk through how to apply Newton's Laws in to each individual object in order to solve for the linear acceleration of each of the blocks. Apply Newtons 2nd Law to each of the blocks in translation (linear motion) and apply the rotational version of the 2nd Law Torque = Inertia x Angular Acceleration to the pulley in order to account for the mass, radius and shape of the pulley.
Setting up a system of three equations and three unknowns we are able to generate an equation for the acceleration of the system.
This problem commonly comes up in introductory physics courses such as high school physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics C and appears on the JEE and A Level Exams.
Babe wake up, integral physics has just dropped another banger
As always, the color coding is awesome! So helpful!
Don't you love it when things just make sense, thanks a lot, (I have a Physics exam on monday)
Best of luck!
Thank you mate, I really enjoyed the video.
No problem 👍
