  • @sybbi7

Sabrina Voinea was the one that truly got robbed. They deducted points claiming she stepped out of the bounds when the footage clearly shows she didn't. Her inquiry wasn't accepted (GOD KNOWS WHY) but if it were, her score would have been higher than Ana's and Jordan's. The French don't wanna admit their mistakes regarding SABRINA, so now to cover their mistakes they say Jordan's inquiry was done too late. Absolutely scandalous, instead of admitting their mistake and giving Sabrina the medal they're playing with both Ana and Jordan's feelings and MENTAL HEALTH after all.

those from the Court of Arbitration for Sport had two requests, one from the 4th place gymnast Ana Barbosu and the second from Sabrina Voinea, the second request from Sabrina Voinea was rejected because they did not have enough evidence even if there were videos in which it is shown that the gymnast did not step outside and should not be penalized, but probably if this request was judged then the referees would have been suspended until the next Olympic Games in 2032 and there would have been a huge scandal for the Olympic Games, which was full of scandals and so they decided to take the most harmless request for the Olympic Games and for referees who would not suffer anything, basically those from the Court of Arbitration for Sport decided to protect referees who made a huge mistake and not to tarnish the image of the Olympic Games even more, anyway from this whole story the 3 gymnasts (the 2 Romanian and American)

I think the US will appeal this because how did CAS determine this? Is there real time footage of the score being posted and Cecile requesting the inquiry at 1:04. If the inquiry was accepted, it was presumed to be timely and there is no mechanism for challenging that within the rules CAS cites. Furthermore, the same section states a National Federation cannot make an inquiry against a gymnast from another National Federation, which seems to be what Romania has done. Even if Romania had a stopwatch and timed the US inquiry, they cannot challenge it per the rules as it involves a gymnast from a competing National Federation.

The person wronged the most here is Sabrina Voinea, and almost nobody is talking about it, she deserved it more than Ana Barbosu or Jordan Chiles, she was de pointed unfairly for stepping out, she should have had a bigger score than both of them. But the judges won't admit they failed that badly, so instead they're pretending that the reason for giving Ana bronze is because Jordan contested too late. Both Jordan and Sabrina should have received their points, making Sabrina 3rd place, Jordan 4th and Ana 5th. Now some Romanians are happy that a Romanian got the bronze, but I'm really angry how unfair this is at a personal level for both Sabrina and Jordan.

Jordan Chiles is an Amazing Athlete, and she performed with excellence as did her Competitors. If the Judges made the technical error it is their flaw to own, the Athlete should carry the benefit not the sorrow. Both of the Athletes she be awarded the Bronze Medal. Jordan didn't cheat or lie, she did her routine and performed well. The Judges made the mistake not Jordan, the rates are extremely close, so the error is not far fetched. Just award the other Athlete her Bronze and make the technical error known. There is no need to strip Jordan of anything, she earned her space to. This is no shade to the other Athlete either, but if the Judges mess up, let the Athletes WIN, they did their job.

This is so messy. CAS is alleging that the time of the US Appeal was 1 minute and 4 seconds after the score was posted. The verbal must be given within one minute. It will be interesting to determine how CAS arrived at this time and whether the US verbally appealed in time and it was recorded late. Especially considering the inquiry was considered timely and accepted during the event.
But, the section CAS cited for the time being 4 seconds too late, also states that an NF (National Federation) cannot file an inquiry against a gymnast from an opposing NF, which is exactly what appears to be the case here, with Romania filing a claim against Jordan to CAS. I definitely think USA Gymnastics should appeal this ruling on Jordan’s behalf.

The situation is even more complicated. The judges incorrectly scored another Romanian gymnast, wrongly deducting points for stepping out of bounds (which they omitted to when reviewing video evidence). This error placed her in fourth. Romania tried to appeal, but it was too late. During this process, it was also found that Jordan's coach missed the 1-minute window to petition. The correct scoring would have placed the Romanian gymnast in 3rd (initially placed 4th), Jordan in 4th (initially placed 5th), and Ana (Romanian) in 5th (initially placed 3rd).

If they do take away her medal, it’ll be an absolute disgrace. Both the USA and Romania said they are okay with sharing a bronze, so if she is asked to return it, that’s absolutely unacceptable. both replys are incorrect. she was given credit for the leap, but not an additional tenth for making it fully around (1.5 turns) and her score was correct as originally scored. the fact that they accepted and bumped her score up originally is where the real problem lies. that never ever should have happened, everyone in the gymternet knew it wasn't around 1.5 so she got the same credit she always has on the skill/routine for a full spin split leap, vs. a 1.5 spin split leap.

Gymnastics is corrupt. Chiles had a better performance - period! She should get the bronze, regardless of an initial protest or not. The judges should have gotten it right the first time! As I watched the events, I felt like quite a few competitors were getting scores based on who they were, as opposed to what they did. And the competitors of color, seem to almost always get the short end of the stick.
I'm sick to my stomach! I call BS!!!

It just didn't make sense unfortunately💔. A lose-lose situation all around. Sending love and light to both gymnasists❤️🌼

Is that really how you want to earn a medal? Based on a technicality? Petty.

If we talk about fairness, let’s talk about how Sabrina’s score would have been 13.800 if she hadn’t been penalized for a mistake she DID not make. She did not step out of bounds. 13.800, what Sabrina should have got, beats 13.766 anytime. Sabrina should have won from the start; had she been correctly scored, all this mess would have been avoided.
