  • The studios already have several plans for the next live action take on Resident Evil. A prequel to Welcome to Raccoon City is on the way along with a new Netflix series. Both new announcements don't sound all that great...but do they even have a chance? The recent success of shows like Fallout has people talking as if we are in a new era of more accurate live adaptations. Can RE live action be saved by the big studios? or will it just be up to the fans to produce content that is accurate for fans? I think we know the answer

Of course the answer is...NO! It's up to us fans to produce content and make fan films to get the job done. We showed what we could do with The Keeper’s Diary short film and will continue to do so...stay tuned!

Big fan of Capcom's original RE trilogy and also enjoyed the Paul W.S Anderson movies(with exception of unwatchable quick cutting shaky cam The Final Chapter.) The movies actually influenced many elements in the future games liike the laser corridor in RE4. Haters just gonna hate but the movies even the worst one made tons of money. They're just fun popcorn movies with their own continuity, an Else World take on the RE franchise. Those who are not fans of it might want to seek out fan edits of the movies, some of them which are actually pretty good though Welcome to Raccoon City and the Netflix series is unsalvageable imo.

If a big studio would simply make a series where each season is a game and actually stick the storylines of each one it could be good. Start with zero and go from there. Welcome to Raccoon City had the right idea just not the right execution

It's probably best you guys keep making RE fan films because clearly the studios can't graps the concept of making the series. Lets be honest the games 1-4 can be a seriously solid horror, Noir , mini series/ series.

I personally like anything resident evil. The Paul Anderson films have there own story within the context we know. Characters. Etc.
Welcome to Raccoon City had a complex story that needed a longer run time for it.
The casting was fine, the setting was more so based off the video games, yes.
The Netflix show had a good story. It just felt funny because of all the back and forth jumping from 2022 to 2036!
The keepers diary was something that shows us fans, and movie creators that we can transfer a simple note, into a visual performance!
It's just with the high budget companies just have high expectations but go a route that us viewers won't know or accept. It's weird but that's how they work!

If someone would just make a series starting with RE0 and work its way through and only stray from the source material to add more content/context to the narrative. We could get sooooo much quality content if someone who knows and loves the franchise, were behind the development of the show/movie. And yes, I agree. It felt like cosplay. Welcome to Raccoon City was absolutely horrible. Leon looked like Carlos in a RPD uniform. Claire and Chris were ok...just ok.

why people expecting live action Resident Evil at this point? the only reason back in the day, people wanted live action movie adaptation, is because of hardware limitation of consoles and PC's. now technology has caught up, cinematic experience is possible. You know? As much as I do like the live action movies (Movies 1-4 to be specific- and some scenes from 5-6), I really feel like they need to stop lying in the promotions to these new films- having the actors, directors say that the films are sticking to the source material when they aren't. And stop using the game characters and butchering them by adding things that they don't have in the games, because it never works. That leon in welcome to raccoon city was a joke- clearly written by someone who couldn't stand him the moment they saw him in the games.

Yes, that film had small things that felt like RE. But when looked at as a whole the film was an abomination bc it did way more things very very badly than good. Firstly, they smashed two games together which makes no sense. As a result the RPD and spencer mansion both felt small and like mere shadows of their in-game selves. Secondly, Leon looked and acted nothing like Leon. He was a moron. Jill also looked nothing like Jill, who is supposed to be French and Japanese and not black. Her character also had no development and apparently she was in a romantic relationship with Wesker. I could go on, but that film is hated for a reason.

Tell the story and then execute it well. Get good casting good dialogue good special effects good cinematography keep the story and characterization close to the same. Don’t put in a lot of social left-wing politics like 90% of films and shows have to do and don’t swap everybody and gender swap everybody make it rated r don’t put in a bunch of different relationship relationships and don’t put in new different characters that are Main players. Don’t put cringe Disney MCU humor, but you can still make it funny and have funny scenes and funny bits of dialogue and just make the characters really likable. Let them Smile and laugh some. don’t make all the women really serious bad a$$ jerks who put everybody down
