I'm excited. If you've ever seen the lines for Fire Chaser Express and Dragon Flyer you won't be confused about this addition or think it's redundant. Dollywood has thrills but it is really focused on families. I think this will have a few cool moments, especially the rock cave with the water feature. And if you're bummed that this isn't a thrill coaster just keep in mind that Dollywood is doing a large expansion and this is just the beginning. They'll get an iconic thrill coaster soon enough. Personally I think what they need most is a high quality dark ride.
The flying theater attraction that went in The Island at Pigeon Forge resort would've been a great addition to Dollywood. A 'Soarin' type ride themed to landscapes of the entire southeast and specifically the smokies would be really cool.
@@NickValinski It's old and outdated. It's being kept as a relic of the past. Sure, it's still fairly popular, but a fresh new dark ride would really help. If Universal can be Dark Ride: The Park then I think Dollywood would benefit from 2 dark rides.

I definitely wanted and hoped for the coaster to have motorbike seats but someone pointed out that pretty much all of those coasters have a 48 inch height requirement while this is just 39, so I'm sure that's at least one reason they didn't go for it to appeal to more families.
It’s great to see Dollywood continuing their relationship with Vekoma~ I’m sure that they will continue to work with them for years to come seeing how great Dragon Flier was for the park.

I'm really excited about this. My son is 8 and my daughter is 6 so this a coaster they can both ride and really enjoy. My son is quickly becoming a coaster enthusiast and when I told him about this last Friday, he was really excited. It would have been neat to add somewhat of an indoor dark ride section but this looks like a fun family coaster nonetheless.
Exactly Bosco! Dollywood is targeted for families. Hey enthusiasts You may love Cedar point but Disney makes more money. Family coasters that add to experience are a great addition. And then next time give the enthusiasts another mega coaster!
Big drops and loops will intimidate young people. I love the long, fast flowing theme and I thing the launches will provide lots of extra thrill for you younger crowds. Can't wait!
I think you have massively undersold this ride. You say it doesnt really do anything, no standout moments, but i think it looks awesome! This is a ride that parents can go on with their kids, and its all about the kids and their first proper rollercoaster. Its a decent speed, some nice turns a little air time maybe. It's a savvy move to get the kids invested and keep them coming back for the bigger rides when they're able to. I wish there was such a coaster when i was young.
I would've liked to see the park build a more tame version of a vekoma flying coaster, with guests gliding over the hillside while not experiencing elements that are too insane for the younger crowd (Inversions, high overbanks, etc.). Also I find it interesting how SeaWorld San Diego is basically doing the same thing by also installing a second family launch coaster.
I don't know if I'd consider Manta at SWSD a family coaster, it does have a height requirement of 48" and has decent intensity. I think the family launch coaster is the right move for them, as much as we'd all like to see more thrilling attractions.
@@fredwardandthebear3192 you’re right, i just use invert as a blanket term for whenever the car is under the track. (which i should stop doing) but still too similar imo which is probs why they didn’t go with it
Well said. I already have seen people disappointed at how the ride looks or that it's too similar to FireChaser. But most of the general public (GP) are not going to make these connections and will appreciate another family ride, especially a long one. Dollywood is not a kids park, nor is it a thrill park, but it has something for everyone. I think because of this there should be another family coaster, like this one. Motorbikes seem like a missed opportunity though. I'm sure it'll be fun, and hey, it'll take some wait away from FireChaser and Dragonflier, which I happen to really enjoy. Dollywood has some quality rides.
Honestly, I don’t mind this addition. It reminds me of Hagrids, which doesn’t have great forces, but is ranked so highly by me because of how fun it is. I do hope though they can add a big bear animatronic somewhere during the ride. Also, I can’t think of a bad new Vekoma ride, and this will give Dollywood arguably the best lineup of family coasters out there.
Although not a thrilling coaster, it completely makes sense as the park's new addition. As you mentioned, the park has a huge family focus and this new rollercoaster will only keep those families coming back more $$$ It could also be Herschend testing the waters of what 'new' vekoma is capable of, so although this is a family attraction - if Herschend deems the ride to be a success it wouldn't surprise me if we see a Vekoma thrill ride soon after :)
I think this is gonna be like a baby version of Maverick and is going to surprise everyone with how fun it is. One thing I do wish is they went with the motorcycle style bikes and somehow had been able to make them into bears you can ride.
Wow big bear huh I don't want to run into the Big Bear I made scary I love that place never been there but I watched the video looks beautiful like fantasy Island that's why I like the place thank you so much Dolly Parton I like to see you in person one on one yes that's no joke I like to see you I'm a biggest fan of you God bless you enjoy your ride. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🐻🐻🐻🎃🎃🎃🌹🌹🌹🌹😘💋💋❤️❤️💖💖
I did not see the announcement live but I was at the park that day. It wasn’t as crowded as we thought it would be and some storms made us be able to get Lightning Rod night rides twice in under half an hour.
If FireChaser and Dragonflier had better capacity, this might not have needed to be their next coaster. Hopefully the long track length and multiple launches will mean 3 or more trains. If that's the case, then I think you're right, the money is in the trains, i do think it's always cool to see multiple trains sharing the same layout. If there are 3 or less trains, then hopefully there will be a couple Big Bear animatronics to go along with the water features and rock work throughout the layout to justify the price tag.
The problem with the Vekoma motorbike trains is the height requirement to ride which is 55 inches. You would get the same problem there is with Ice Breaker. It's supposed to be a family ride but the height requirement is so much that it isn't available to ride for families anymore.
I really don’t understand the people who were expecting a record breaking intense enthusiast coaster in a childrens area. They announced in 2018 WWG would be in two phases, this is phase 2. It’ll be the longest and fastest family coaster at the park. (It’s faster than MM, Firechaser express, and dragonflier) which will also include an entire on-ride audio narration/music throughout the duration. I’m hyped and it will be such a hit at the park with the GP.
I love dragonflier, always wished it was longer. Awesome smooth ride. This will be a great addition to the family area as that's a long walk to get back there just to ride dragonflier and turn around. Some people don't even walk back into that area at all.
I think the next big thrill coaster at Dollywood will go in where mountain slidewinder used to be. The areas of the park needs something other than the swing to draw guests there and a new coaster would be perfect!
It looks fun and great for families. I just wish/hope it would have more theming. Even just more trees planted around it so it’s like you’re going through the woods looking for the bear.
It needs a lot more trees and plantings than that rendering shows. Coaster is a bit too.... visible and out there front and center. Maybe thats what they wanted though. Just the whole vibe of a Black Bear Mountain feels like a forest to me. Could use hella more theming too. Not that Dollywood does that really, but like more rock work like that waterfall with splash effect shown in the rendering. That's nifty. More of that. And yeah, I totally first thought Ice Breaker when I saw this coaster. Even thought it was Premier. Weird ass coaster for Dollywood but at the sametime maybe they got a great reaction from Firechaser Express and the Vekoma Supsended coaster and figured, more of that. Would definitely have been cool to have a motorbike arrangement. I'm sure they thought of it.
This. Came here to point this out. That's what you missed, T. The tunnel at the end of the animatic. They don't show it, how big it is, or what's inside, but you hear a roar. The theme is finding the bear, and there's no bear? That's the hidden cost. That's also why there's on board audio, no doubt. Storyline. Think Indy's jeeps in Disneyland. I'm guessing they're keeping theming details slim in that animatic. Lots of blank grass when the story is you "go out into the woods". One little splash of water when you go under some rocks. And then the tunnel you never see. I'm betting on extensive theming, timed audio with landscape elements, and that big finale in the tunnel with the bear. That'd explain a much bigger budget than just a coaster, and the crown jewel on the entire land.
I don’t think Motorbikes would go with the theming, but four wheelers, now we’re getting closer! If Vekoma is overseas, where are the track pieces manufactured? If they are being shipped overseas, that might be part of the high cost?
This simply looks like great fun. I like the terrain coaater idea. The Beast as a steel coaster came to mind watching this. Am I disappointed that it's not an intense extreme coaster? On some level. But I like a lot of "family" coasters, too. They have their place.
The motorbike coaster has a 1,4 Meter requirement (no idea how many feet that are, but it’s more than Taron or Baron 1898), that’s why they probably didn’t chose those seats.
Id love the idea of the bikes (how did u guess) but i think it would mess with the height restriction bcuz in toverland we ive ridden those same motorbikes as in the video and its very family friendly, but the height recuirment is the highest in the park 140 cm (4'6). Thats while coasters like fenix and troy also stand there that are way more intens and pull more forces, but yet they have shorter height requirnents. So i think the bikes are a no go
i don't know why so many coaster enthusiests harp on family coasters. not everything can be a huge thrill ride. in any case, this looks like it'll be a really good coaster, just another reason to go to dollywood!
I kinda wish they had some more theming during the ride. Like I get with the bigger rides people aren’t going to notice as much but on a family coaster I think you can have more show elements since it’s not flying past at 60+ mph. Also by calling it Big Bear Mountain it kinda draws comparisons to Big Thunder Mountain which has far superior theming during the ride or even draw comparisons to Big Grizzly Mountain in Hong Kong which looks absolutely incredible. Granted most people aren’t going to ever ride both rides, I still wish they stepped up the theming a bit
I think many coaster enthusiasts are missing the point by thinking a park's (especially Dollywood) main interest is catering to them. Dollywood is and has always been a family destination and a ride like this reaffirms their commitment to that. Having similar coasters is hardly a critique especially when it is rarely levied when the similar rides are big and appealing to thrill-seeking enthusiasts. Kids and families will love this ride and it's nice to see a kids area get something more than a 20 or 30-second off the shelf coaster. Motorcycle trains are clever but are not comfortable for all body types. The price tag likely reflects inflation both of the development, materials, and labor. I personally find it exciting when parks opt out of the record-breaking race and create something different that reflects a real knowledge of their market (Invadr for example).
Hey Tyler, would it be possible to include the metrical units in your videos? It would be such a quality enhancement for watching your videos overseas :) Cheers from Germany ✌️
I think that they did not go with the motorbike cars because of the older crowd. My mom for example, does like roller coasters, but when she tried to get on a moto coaster before it was too painful for her back. The normal seating with padding is super comfortable.
After the out-and-back format of the first half of the ride, the mess of track towards the end seems a bit odd…unless there’s something in that area that they’re not sharing yet. I might be wrong, but I’ve a hunch that there’s more to this than it seems.
I’m really excited for this, family coasters really deserve more attention. But, I’m thinking this will be less thrilling than Firechaser. Sure that has a backwards part, but lemme tell ya, that first launch out of it the station is more violent than you might think.
I'm not very disappointed about this honestly because Wildwood Grove was cool when I went but I was walking through just for dragonflier and the area was cool but looked incomplete this will definitely help that
Really think this should’ve been a family multi launch spinning coaster from MACK. Making it a motorbike coaster would be cool but allowing it to spin would make it the best family spinner out there
I wish it would have been similar to cheetah hunt where it is a family coaster, but sprinkle in an inversion or 2. It would bee a great first inverting coaster for many kids
@@Kennywood_Fanatic For me, inversions (Upside down parts like loops, rolls, corkscrews, etc.) or sideways banking are just too much. I'd rather ride a more gentle coaster, like Whistle Punk Chaser, where the ride has more mild turns (Gentle bank angles and not too sharp) and hills (Low heights, smooth up and down feel), a low speed, and gentle drops. I'm not a big fan of coasters in general, but Whistle Punk Chaser helped introduce me to coasters in a fun and easy way, not too scary.
Definitely a LSM launch, or worse case scenario is drivetire. And it's just animation error anyway. The biggest linear motor provider is Intrasys motor, and their motor product is only LSM motor. And it's not their product can be adjust according to what needs. They had different size for different application. You can tune it soft launch like Mack, or just burst power like Gerstlauer. But honestly I'm surprise rollerskate train could be use LSM motor in the first place since most of them only use drivetire. Edit : Then I remember Tron Lightcycle use LSM and share same gauge diameter with rollerskate (MK-700 rail)
looks fun but that's taking up a lot of room! they coulda just had it as that second section and put another small coaster in the where the first section is. Maybe even mirror the layout and have it like a duelling coaster shooting out from either side. Woulda been better on through put too!
Nice addition. BUT.....they really need to theme this thing out. Looks barren for the most part. As people have pointed out, it needs a lot more vegetation and trees. The addition of a show building or two, with something going on inside would be cool too.
I can see frlm the family point of view since family bring in the most money for parks. But kinda wish it was abit more thrilling as there last coaster before this was a family coaster.
@@alexbrown2696 gosh yes! I'm also excited to see updated footage of all the coasters. And now that he's ridden monstre and super manege was scrapped. Maybe we'll get a review for Goliath as well.
This is one of my home parks and they already have a lot of good family coasters . I think a hyper coaster would have been better. I’m kinda disappointed. But I think it will be great for family’s
Blazing Fury is a hybrid Coaster/Dark Ride that leans more towards a Dark Ride, since there's only a couple of small drops and the ride immediately slows back down afterwards. A vast majority of the layout meanders slowly through a series of scenes while climbing a very mild incline via drive tires.
@@VestedUTuber yes, but they lack a true, traditional dark ride, such as a shooting ride or motion simulator. I would love to see an attraction like that here.
How was this 25 mil??? I find it unfortunate that this massive plot of land was used for a minet train. But it looks fun and seem enjoyable for all ages
I suspect that they wouldn't have been able to get the 39" height requirement with the motorbike cars. Also Vekoma HAS given Intamin a run for their money, remember that they made a hyper concept that was able to match an Intamin one (IMO they completely surpassed it) for Energylandia. Not only that but Abyssus looks so much better than Pantheon.

Thats while coasters like fenix and troy also stand there that are way more intens and pull more forces, but yet they have shorter height requirnents. So i think the bikes are a no go
At least the trailer music was awesome.
i don't know why so many coaster enthusiests harp on family coasters. not everything can be a huge thrill ride.
in any case, this looks like it'll be a really good coaster, just another reason to go to dollywood!
I don’t think enthusiasts are really harping on this being a family coaster, as much as it being super similar to FireChaser Express.
The US is finally getting a modern Vekoma
Fire chaser express is my favorite ride
Hey Tyler, would it be possible to include the metrical units in your videos?
It would be such a quality enhancement for watching your videos overseas :)
Cheers from Germany ✌️
I think that they did not go with the motorbike cars because of the older crowd. My mom for example, does like roller coasters, but when she tried to get on a moto coaster before it was too painful for her back. The normal seating with padding is super comfortable.
Looks like a lot of fun but yea using a different car layout would definitely change up the norm and add something unique to the coaster.
I’m kinda excited, my kids will dig it. I’ll dig getting to go. It does look lame, maybe it’s going to be reliable?
Looks fun
After the out-and-back format of the first half of the ride, the mess of track towards the end seems a bit odd…unless there’s something in that area that they’re not sharing yet. I might be wrong, but I’ve a hunch that there’s more to this than it seems.
I feel it’s gonna be more intense then it looks
I’m really excited for this, family coasters really deserve more attention. But, I’m thinking this will be less thrilling than Firechaser. Sure that has a backwards part, but lemme tell ya, that first launch out of it the station is more violent than you might think.
You’re telling me that this ride is more expensive than a 200 foot tall terrain B&M wing coaster?
As an older, now like tamer coaster dude, this looks cool, but I would love to see something similar as a Wooden version.
They didn't even have RMC put in an inversion...
Those look like the same type of LSM used on Superman Escape From Krypton. It doesnt have fins either, more like boxes.
Kind of reminds me of the Regal cinema coaster.
imagine this roller coaster with i-305s speed. that would've been top 10 rides ever, because of all of the turns and how low to the ground it is
Unrelated but I went to bgw and went on alpineguist and saw some Intamin family coaster track on the last helix
Craig Ross said on his interview that Wildwood Grove will have a phase 3 expansion in the future!
Grandma might not be able to get on a cycle with her grandson. 🤣 Definitely for families.
AIRE FORCE ONE!!
There should be an event similar to holliwood nights where they increase the launch speed by 20mph
Nice addition. BUT.....they really need to theme this thing out. Looks barren for the most part. As people have pointed out, it needs a lot more vegetation and trees. The addition of a show building or two, with something going on inside would be cool too.
I hope it has more theming. It looks kinda bare.
They should build a caved area with a bear animatronic.
I can see frlm the family point of view since family bring in the most money for parks. But kinda wish it was abit more thrilling as there last coaster before this was a family coaster.
Do you know when your La Ronde review will be out? I’m excited for it.
Probably in September
I hope he doesn't delete the original one if he redoes his review of La Ronde. The original is a classic.
@@alexbrown2696 gosh yes! I'm also excited to see updated footage of all the coasters. And now that he's ridden monstre and super manege was scrapped. Maybe we'll get a review for Goliath as well.
Did he actually go back? Taylor said he would never ever go back unless they RMC Monstre.
@@coasterhockygamingboy9549 Sarah made him go because she hadn’t been and he still wants Le Monstre RMCd.
hey taylor, is there still a phantasialand vlog coming up?
Yes
Now that I think about it I think the motorbike trains would fit better for this ride, instead of the standard trains. Would get different experience
They didn’t go for the motorbike coaster because the height requirement is way higher with those seats.
1.40M
Looks like a great family ride, just not a fan of the bright orange track. I feel like it shoulda been darker
This is one of my home parks and they already have a lot of good family coasters . I think a hyper coaster would have been better. I’m kinda disappointed. But I think it will be great for family’s
Honestly ill imagine B&M hyper with 40" height requirement.
I mean, first family hypercoaster
I yhink it they gave it inversions that would still enough more than the others onre.
New gen vekomas in Wildwood Grove: 2
New gen vekomas in the rest of the US: 0
Only in COTALand, Dollywood, and Walt Disney World.
I'm really surprised Dollywood hasn't added a dark ride yet. Its really the only type of attraction this park is truly missing.
I agree
Blazing Fury is a hybrid Coaster/Dark Ride that leans more towards a Dark Ride, since there's only a couple of small drops and the ride immediately slows back down afterwards. A vast majority of the layout meanders slowly through a series of scenes while climbing a very mild incline via drive tires.
@@VestedUTuber yes, but they lack a true, traditional dark ride, such as a shooting ride or motion simulator. I would love to see an attraction like that here.
I would say that Mystery Mine is a dark ride also more then a coaster...
@@supremefan
Mystery Mine spends most of its time under gravity power. It's more of a coaster with dark ride elements rather than a true hybrid.
How was this 25 mil??? I find it unfortunate that this massive plot of land was used for a minet train. But it looks fun and seem enjoyable for all ages
Inflation.. 3 years ago this ride would have been $12 million
