Pete Skjold makes the finest basses on the earth. Ever since I stumbled across my first Skjold, I haven't looked back. I have custom ordered 3 from Pete and owned several more. He is the absolute best to work with on builds also.
I am very fortunate enough to own 2 Skjold Slayer 4's (one fretted and one fretless). I can tell you without a doubt these are hands down two of the finest instruments i have ever played. Pete was very easy to work with and delivered exactly what I was looking for. Simply outstanding!
No doubt...Skjold basses are incredible! Pete Skjold is a great luthier. The demo was nice too!👍🏾Thanks for the kind mention🙏🏾 And I agree..These basses inspire you to play new ideas!👊🏾
Pete skjold is one of the most detail oriented and knowledgeable luthiers by far I have ever met! I have a couple of world class basses and Pete’s look and quality/craftsmanship is unparalleled! Every bass is built by hand and he overlooks absolutely nothing! The feel and sound is beyond anything I have ever played. I will absolutely be having another made by him! Soon! If you are looking for a high end bass you would be doing yourself a favour by considering Pete’s expertise! Absolute Perfection!! 😋
I'm Ohio born and raised. I've only gotten my hands on one of these one time. Amazing basses overall. Gorgeous looks and perfect tone for my preferences. Thank you for shining a spotlight on these amazing pieces of gear. Best channel on RUclips for satisfying my G.A.S. Awesome review and demo Sir!
Pete makes incredible basses. I have a Slayer 4 & 5 string. His basses are consistent , light , well balanced and stable . Its hard to get a bad tone. He is easy to work with and very personable. Worth every penny.
I picked my Skjold Catacomb Drakkar 6/33 up last week, and all I can say is it is the most amazing bass I have ever played (and I've played a lot)! Very balanced and lush tone, fit and finish second to none, playability is perfect. A real pleasure to play, and a privilege to own. I have used it on a handful of gigs so far, and it has proven to be uber versatile and well as a head turner.
Rene is what you should call a bass hustler... He can hustle and sell me even a log of wood too... And here goes two more basses added to my wishlist... Sounds like a dream
I've never played one but from a lot of pics around the internet, the neck looks like _very_ thin. Are the string spacing very close or are they regular?
For me personally... most of these boutique basses are very ugly. Most of them sound great, play great, and take obvious talent to make. But they just don't do it for me. I'm more of a classic bass kind of guy I guess. That Sandberg Jazz bass you guys have is one of the best looking basses I've ever seen. Not knocking these basses... I'm sure they're damn good. Just not for me personally.
With all these options the Skjoldslayer costs 6.790,00 Euro and the Drakkar 6.990,00 Euro (all prices include German VAT). Back from the video studio they are available for testing in my shop again! These basses are worth every cent you'd spent! Feel free to contact me! steffen@fendtsfinest.com www.fendtsfinest.com
Why wouldn't we use one for tapping, if it makes everything sound cleaner and better? We use lots of little helpers to get what we want, as everyone does - except you, probably.

Great review! I have three Skjold's and can’t say enough about Pete’s work. You need to review one of his fretless basses! They’re incredible!
That Skjold Slayer is a pretty much perfect bass. Absolutely incredible.

Love these basses. That slayer bass is wikked and the versatility of the other is awesome.

19mm, all regular
Nice bass face. Lol
The Slayer would be more my style.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Mein Herz ist gebrochen...ich habe die ganze Zeit auf den kleinen Bass im Hintergrund gewartet. Was ist denn das für einer?
