Good luck!
By the way, I wanted to ask if you could share the source of knowledge you learn and the books you read or anything that makes it possible for you to write such great programs. I'm a self-taught programmer I watch your videos and am curious how you learn to be able to write such programs, I'd be glad if you could make a video about it. Thank you!
Hi javid, love your content. Can you create a video that explains how you setup your system, the needed libraries of c++ for creating games . That would be a huge help.
It can be tricky to know whether or not it's BST. It's not as if you can rely on looking at the weather outside. "It's ...er... *looks outside and sees 8ft of snow* .. yep! British Summer Time!"
Is javascript a good place to start if you want to eventually start your own business? I want to learn to program but don't want to work for a big company as I feel I'm too old and slow. Great videos by the way!
Thanks Simbob - I think simply learning a language is a good way to start - they are all fundamentally similar, but yes Javascript is accessible (just a bit messy) I believe the cool kids these days use Typescript, but you'd need to check with them :D
I’d just pick a language and go for it. Biggest pitfall is to switch around to the latest and greatest everyone is talking about. I personally started with Swift, then switched to Java and noticed how similar the concepts are (even if the languages are quite different). When you really get into 1 language, you basically know how to program and you just need to learn other syntaxes if you switch a language. More or less. :)
@@VincentGroenewold Cool. Thank you for the advice. Do you think half an hour a day is long enough? I work full time as a gardener with a fair commute each way. I have a book on C# and a book on programming games in Javascript.
I want to program gps, But I don't even know what function to call, what API to use,or what SDK to use, whether I need to use UNICODE or ASCII. I didn't even know to program a window console. All that FILE object named pFile is really confusing me. I don't even know whether it is an object or a pointer. Help needed on the basics T_T.
Hi Javid, can you please recommand a book for c++ and Java which show pictorial explanations. Or recommand a video for c++ and Java beginners to experts. Regards
"This is the biggest most important programming event on the calendar on the entire globe!" indeed! :)
Hey David.
Congrats for the newborn and welcome to the people-with-kids team.
Hey thanks Gabriel - its been, well, a learning curve to say the least :D

Had covid when I did the codejam last year. But now after having it two times and finally over all of that. I'm ready to do this!
Can't wait to see what the community will be creating!
Its always impressive, the creativity is brilliant!
I don't event want to wait for what you have to say, you have my like.
Can't wait to create another calculator

Congrats to the release of the lil programm Javid2.0
I'm glad you and your family are doing well! ❤️
Ahhh! school starts the exact same week for me! im glad you're OK though :D I cant wait to see what the community makes this year!
Great to see you again and hear that you're all doing fine! Greetings from Argentina and lot of luck for everyone in the olc!

It really is a great jam, and very relaxed. I didn't even know any C++ when I joined last year!

Nice to see you back.
And I'll be taking part this year as well :).
I haven't jammed in a long time. .. that everyone has fun

So many things to do, less time to do those :D
Yeah, they do require a bit of dedication to take part, but you can still drop a few ratings during judgement!
I Just requested a few weeks off of Work. Around that time. I guess i know where 1 week is going in to.
lol Tobias, I did that last year and ruined my holiday because I got too invested in my jam entry so be careful :D
Planning to take part in this. Hopefully I am able to. I too have a little one that takes a lot of my free time. Definitely excited for this though.
Great news on the family, fella. 😊
Congratulations!
Lets go! take care too Jx9 😄😄😄
Oh, cool, hadn't heard the news about your wee 'un. Congratulations!
Cool! I was planning on building a GUI app of some sort to learn about desktop apps, this would be such a great opportunity.
peace from morocco
Nice to hear again from my favorite game programming tutor!
IF code jam announced THEN sign up.
This is the year if I have time
I think I might try the original theme, discovery, from back in 2018 while we wait, impatiently...
I think that's a good time to add 2D lighting to my game engine
These year I will submit something... Starts the music of Terminator 2
Never been on CodeJam, so I have a question, can multiple people participate? (2 people working on the same project)
Yay, i love these
Awesome!

So the mars rover can't compete? :(

Can you make a little 3d game with any engine or your engine ?

Would you teach your kid Javascript or C++ ?
What languages can I use? C? Py? Rust?
He said at 1:28, whatever you want!
@@bernardoborges8598 thanx I guess that means I'll use C
Hi! I just wanted to ask you, do you have any video showing how can we code our own game engine from scratch? Thanks for the answer
Sadly not on the conventional sense. This channel focuses more on interesting algorithms and techniques rather than engines.
nice ;D
are teams allowed?
Yes they are! Just ensure all team members are mentioned as part of the Submission.
