It's the problem of being able to let go of the steering wheel and just relaxing and coming along for the ride.
Calmsden is now available on modhub 😊 Been looking forward to it since your FS19 preview! As far as wheat is concerned. I think it's subjective. Here in the US harvest season varies GREATLY! Mostly from June to August, but the western US and bits of the midwest go into September.
Hey Dager! I think the wheat timescale is like that because they only included winter wheat. We always harvest winter wheat around the first week of July here in Indiana. But we don't plant any spring wheat here, because it doesn't make anyone any money compared to corn and soybeans.
Thanks for the heads up on the wheat, I was following along and thought, watch the video first. Lucky for me I harvested in the dark and saved the crop. Looking forward the this series very much. I do have my own plan for what direction I'll take but it's still fun to play side by side.
I tend to play in realtime so that I dont run out of time for things. While it is disappointing that the crop withered, I do see it as a realistic loss, simply because it does sometimes happen in the real world. Of course you are correct about when it should be harvested in the real world, but you do need to pay attention to that calendar in game, because it is fairly strict about what it considers "harvest season".
Fabulous video Daggerwin. It's great to have a british map on FS22 and what a brilliant map it is too. Thanks Oxygen David. Definitely an FS limitation not being able to harvest in September in the UK.
I watched your first video, and excitedly went straight out to harvest the barley field :) . after which i took a nap...... Wheats! same thing happened to me! thanks for paving the way for us ! loving Calmsden!
Land holds it's value, you don't loose any money buying and selling land. You do loose a lot of money leasing things though. Leasing is smart if you only need something once or twice in your game life, or if you don't know which one is best suited for your needs and want to try one first. But if it's something you will need every year, it's much cheaper to take a loan and buy it. Loan is a money making tool, when used wisely. If it adds productivity more than interests cost, it's wise. Sow and harvest times are defined in the map, they are not hard coded in the game. I play now a Finnish map that has different times. Crops did wither before, if you left them too long, but it's definitely better that it's seasonal. You may also have rain on the last harvest day. I also keep the time at x5 and if I run out of time, that's just my bad planning. Slowing time is not realistic, doing things like that make the simulation more boring. Takes out the challenge.
Hello Sir, After watching your video's on Calmsden Farm, I did a test on the Seasons myself and I had the same result as you, the second day being the Sep 1. When I started a new game I went straight to the in-game setting and changed the days per season from 1 to 2 and then I saved and exited the game. When I re-started the save game it still said Aug, With out playing the game i increased the time to 360 to advance to the next day. Which came up as the Sep 1. When you change the number of days per season there is a note beside the input field that states that when you change the number of days per season the effect is not active until the next season, hence the Sep 1. Therefore to be able to harvest both of the fields you would have to go against your principle of speed 5 and reduce to the speed so that you can harvest both fields in Aug. To maintain a 2 day seasons you to change the number of days in Aug.
This map is so good looking :) Nothing wrong changing your mind, things change while you 'farm". But what ever happens, always do harvesting before everything else! About the wheat field, just prepp it and sow it again. Nothing else to do really. It was your fault anyway :)
Once this one comes out on Console (PS4), I plan on playing it. Good to know that I have to harvest both fields as soon as possible before enjoying the environment too much ;) Thank you for making those mistakes @Daggerwin. We're all human and mistakes are part of it. Luckily this is a game, so it should all be part of the fun and I had a good laugh when those bales didn't behave.
Hey Daggerwin, have you ever considered the GPS mod? Would still allow you to do the drilling yourself if you wanted but greatly help with going in a straight line and is something farmers use in real life! Love the videos, keep up the good work.
I really enjoy using the GPS mod. It's realistic since as you said farmers use it and you're still controlling the machine yourself - turning, raising and lowering implements, etc.
Do what all farmers do Daggerwin when they lose a crop. They get up put their clothes on and mulch the dead crop away. Plow/cultivate and prep for next crop. Hunker down though because in real life that equates to a tough tough year.
You should be able to get straw from withered field by mowing it (not 100% sure). Also you can mow field 31 for sheep, which is exactly there enclosure. Also keep in mind that 2 days per month apply only from next season, which from my understanding is from January. So the next sleep will throw you into October.
I don’t mind when plans change. Everyone can see why. You lay out what you want to do and things don’t always go to plan. As for buying field 23, it was the best decision. Why buy a withered crop when you can get a useful crop. Your videos are always the first thing for me to watch. Keep up the great work
Started this map today. Swapped all the tractors out for claas. Took all day to harvest, bake and load the one field even with courseplay. Started mowing the two grass fields at the same time. Much to do.
In Albania if you dont harvest wheat or Barley by July , it will wither quickly , some areas which are higher from sea level first week of August is maximum but England with September seems way too long
Thank you Daggerwin you saved my wheat! Finally got this amazing map on ps4! Used real-time to finish both fields! My chickens are thankful for saving wheats! 😁 But map is very amazing, I love it! Thank you for amazing video 🤩
Hey daggerwin! I just got the white daggerwin hoodie! My friend loves you and is jealous of me🤣🤣🤣🤣 great videos man!👍keep doing what makes you happy! Stay safe daggerwin!
Glad to see it did not only happen to me. It requires a bit of getting used to only one gameday in August. Better start harvesting and deal with baling next day. Using organic fertilizer is very much in the time. The price on artificial fertilizer has sky rocketed.
the stock geo is a bit weird to me too. We tend to get 2 harvests a year here for example, not 1. Wheat gets planted in october for harvest in march/april, then the second crop goes into the ground for harvest in august/september. Some farmers squeeze out 3 crops by planting the wheat in november, harvesting in march, putting in tulips for harvest in may (they don't need long at all), then onions for harvest in october.
I life things don't go as planned either. I enjoy watching your videos And you are one of only a few that I can watch with my 5 year old who by the way loves your videos also. I don't have to worry about any bad language from your videos.
Withered Wheat - I agree - Here in the US where I live they harvest wheat in to September. I think it would be the same in the UK especially since it's probably a bit wetter there. I know in the Mid-west US they will harvest wheat late july or August as it can be drier that time of year there. but it also may depend on when they plant.
Just with the balers daggerwin. I know the square baler is easier as you don’t have to wait for it to empty but correct me if I’m wrong but I think the round baler can bale straw as 11 thousand litre bales and not only that but the trailer for round bales can carry 24 bales again correct me if I’m wrong. Just seems better to have the baling take a bit longer for the quantity you’ll be able to bale and transport. Loving the series and the content your putting out on both channels! Much love from Ireland😀
Hard to know what to do. Like you said you should be able to harvest wheat until September. So options are: 1: work out what you could make from the barley and add that money in for the wheat that didn’t get harvested 2: just pretend it was already withered when started. Not many farmers forget there crop and considering the weather has been good in the series you can’t blame the weather. Guess you could do a vote 🤷
Something I've learned so far; you MUST do 2-3 day months or crops will wither cuz the field are so big that anything less than 2 days will cost you dearly. If you do 3 day months it will vmake it less stressful.
x1 speed and 4 days per month is my default settings. For withered field, I will lime it, mulch and plant oilseed, and wait for next season. Love your playthrough.

Listening to Daggerwin explaining his "strategic decisions" is kinda funny. Imo buying fields wasn't an issue, the biggest mistakes are buying machinery for one-time use then selling it, and buying expensive production buildings for small scale use
Field 23 is free to add to your property holdings. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you hadn't clicked on it to check. Also, you can sell one of the two medium diesel tanks for a ridiculous amount of money - $300-400k. To go along with the playthrough you can just say a family member was no longer using it and left it to you to take care of - just a thought.
If you wanted a base amount for the missed wheat, I harvested 57,213L from that field, so if you plant wheat there in the future you'll know how much more doing the various fertilizer stages could potentially add to the yield.
Here is an idea for the withered field. If possible, plant the oil seed radish and cultivate it up in spring. Since the crop is gone but you can stockpile fertilizer for the next one, and you will get a grater bonus from the radish than from mulch.
I love your videos and thank you so much for the amazing content! As for the withering of crops, I think there should be a gradual wither where each month or days depending on your structure you loose some yield from the field because it’s very unrealistic for it to all of sudden become unharvestable! Maybe it’s something people making mods could assist with! Please let me know your thoughts on this and would be happy to have a discussion?? Thanks everyone and thank you dagger for producing awesome content!!!

about harvest time here (Eastern-Finland) with grain its usually around August-September maybe a bit into October, but rarely in July. Also winter crops aren't really common, because of the cold (normal winter weather is -15-30 and 40-60 cm of snow).

Harvest here starts anywhere between the last week of june all the way to mid july. Its very common for wheat to be coming off on the 4th of july.

Calmsden Farm is out for Console! Xbox Series S, It was on PC Testing just yesterday! Wow 😮 Thank you 🙏 Oxygen David… A Big Tip of the Cap 🧢!
This map is so good looking :)
Nothing wrong changing your mind, things change while you 'farm". But what ever happens, always do harvesting before everything else!
About the wheat field, just prepp it and sow it again. Nothing else to do really. It was your fault anyway :)
Once this one comes out on Console (PS4), I plan on playing it. Good to know that I have to harvest both fields as soon as possible before enjoying the environment too much ;)
Thank you for making those mistakes @Daggerwin. We're all human and mistakes are part of it. Luckily this is a game, so it should all be part of the fun and I had a good laugh when those bales didn't behave.
Apparently it is out now, according to some comments.
Currently at work myself so cannot verify.
@@mr.yawnie ye it came out a few hours ago
It's been out for ps4 for a good while now, I've had mine about a month
@@lor7780 is it on Xbox?
@@boatymcboatface4914 do you know if it’s out for Xbox?
About the lost wheat crop, just cultivate it and start again. To compensate the moneyloss you can grab a few collectables.
Hey Daggerwin, have you ever considered the GPS mod? Would still allow you to do the drilling yourself if you wanted but greatly help with going in a straight line and is something farmers use in real life! Love the videos, keep up the good work.
Or, you know, just use built in minimap coords like 0, 90, 180, 270 then doing fieldwork )
When things go wrong is the best part of the video dag thanks for all the videos
Much to do.
You're my comfort youtuber. I don't like the game but you make the video's enjoyable. I've been watching a lot of them!
In Albania if you dont harvest wheat or Barley by July , it will wither quickly , some areas which are higher from sea level first week of August is maximum but England with September seems way too long
Add in half the money you would have made from the crop. And treat it like a insurance claim.
Thank you Daggerwin you saved my wheat! Finally got this amazing map on ps4! Used real-time to finish both fields! My chickens are thankful for saving wheats! 😁
But map is very amazing, I love it!
Thank you for amazing video 🤩
Hey daggerwin! I just got the white daggerwin hoodie! My friend loves you and is jealous of me🤣🤣🤣🤣 great videos man!👍keep doing what makes you happy! Stay safe daggerwin!
“That’s fairly stable….. well…”
I died.
Yes definitely more Calmsden episodes!! Looking forward to this so much! Love the Haut Beyleron ones too but Calmsden is suuuuuch a better map!
I enjoy watching your videos
And you are one of only a few that I can watch with my 5 year old who by the way loves your videos also. I don't have to worry about any bad language from your videos.
Loving this map can't wait for it to come out and play it!
it's out now
I like the random sporadic ness when you're playing awesome videos sir
So options are:
1: work out what you could make from the barley and add that money in for the wheat that didn’t get harvested
2: just pretend it was already withered when started.
Not many farmers forget there crop and considering the weather has been good in the series you can’t blame the weather. Guess you could do a vote 🤷
All your series’s and episodes are awesome and well done. This one is a good change of pace
ur videos are amazing and very fun to watch, you're not frustrating to watch :)
Great video omg plz hurry up giants get this map out of testing. Sorry it’s live on mod hub now
To make DOF be off by default add false to your game.xml under the section. Should make it be off by default when you start the game.

There is an orange petrol tank on the farm, where the bales are but on the other side of the building. You can sell it, it is word over 400 000 pound!
DAGGERWIN. please don't let a bad comment influence you this much. you're not frustrating to watch?! Just be you and enjoy playing the game you love. You cant please everyone and look how many people watch your video's Its your love for playing this game that got me hooked . :)
one of the best fs series you have done till now
Listening to Daggerwin explaining his "strategic decisions" is kinda funny. Imo buying fields wasn't an issue, the biggest mistakes are buying machinery for one-time use then selling it, and buying expensive production buildings for small scale use
Hey Daggerwin . There is a mod player position saver that will restart you at your last position instead of at the farmhouse. It works great.
You could mess up a whole video, I'd still love it. It's something with your voice, and the way you live the game. You are FS to me
Thanks for this amazing rolepaly series
Woah daggerwin 700k subs I remember when u had 50-100k 💪🏼💪🏼
Field 23 is free to add to your property holdings. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you hadn't clicked on it to check. Also, you can sell one of the two medium diesel tanks for a ridiculous amount of money - $300-400k.
To go along with the playthrough you can just say a family member was no longer using it and left it to you to take care of - just a thought.
Fantastic episode, really looking forward to this series! I've got the mrs hooked haha!
I had two fields wither on a different map , in the same way . I think it makes it much more realistic . Great video thank you .
I’m building a custom farm on this map. Being a American it’s really hard to build a from scratch UK farm but I’m really enjoying how it’s coming out. Can’t believe it took me so long to try this map haha
Oh sweet you are doing a nice looking british map👍
about harvest time here (Eastern-Finland) with grain its usually around August-September maybe a bit into October, but rarely in July. Also winter crops aren't really common, because of the cold (normal winter weather is -15-30 and 40-60 cm of snow).
I love that you are so calm. At least in the videos :D cause I would have switched of my console to do something to cool me down but you sir have good nerves :)
Here in italy wheat is usually harvested in middle/late july... changing topic and going to the withering of crops.. three years ago we finished rice roundabout on december 20th and a friend of mine finished corn on january 13th
Wow you even have your own merchandise! So impressive!!!
i love this map and honestly its one of the maps i will put most of my hours into the fields are so big and me and my friend with 2 combines and 1 grain cart still aren't done after a 30 minute session i love this map it leaves me things to do
Night work would be cool.. theres a ton of mods with field work lights for that. thanks for the video!
Cant wait for a survival challenge.
Keep up the good work.
CALMSDEN FARM IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD! Very slow download, but WHO CARES!
Catching up with this series, I personally don't mind it when plans change. Makes the game and video interesting!
The videos are great. Love them don't change anything
Of course i live in the midwest USA but all of the wheat grown in my area which isnt very much, mainly corn and soybeans. But all of the wheat grown is winter wheat. Harvest here starts anywhere between the last week of june all the way to mid july. Its very common for wheat to be coming off on the 4th of july.
If you decide to get a car for the map it would be nice to get that Land Rover Discovery as that would fit in nicely.
one year when i lived on a farm, it was so wet that we ended up harvesting our wheat on 5th November!
I've seen videos from Canada where they were harvesting wheat (I think it was) with the field covered in almost half a meter of snow... That must have been rough on both the crop, the equipment, and the people.
@@jwenting yes that actually happened. It was not ideal for the crop or the machinery. Harvest 2018 ended in 2019... silly mother nature 🤣
Something similar happened on the farm I live on a few years ago. Harvesting beans in January...
...Just your typical Scottish summer...
Farmers in Australia have had to delay harvest for 2 weeks once due to heat and the FDR.
Daggerwin getting lost then loosing the crop. Great bit of realism LMAO. "It's fairly stable" he says... ROFLMAO. Was this an intentional comedy episode? Brilliant...
Shut up
Hey dagger can you try doing round bales this series. Love what your doing keep up the good work👍🏻
Love watching your vids and playing my career on fs22
"These look pretty stable" famous last words. The bales heard you 😂
