I wish Aikman would just stop. "That's a good call" on AD, yeah right dude. That's not roughing, that's what happens when a 300-pound lineman has momentum that continues to carry him as he's being shoved around. We need more commentators that are happy to say "This is bs"
Has there been a directive from the top? It’s now a non-contact sport, they’ll be able to phase out all helmets and protection and it’ll just be a sport that involves running and throwing, no defensive tactics required, the two teams with the best offensives will be in the Super Bowl final and it’ll end 115-120 ‘cause no one will be able to stop the teams advancing.
As long as Tom Brady is in the NFL they will have helmets. It is the only thing stopping him from kissing other players on the mouth. In all seriousness the nfl new rulings suck and it is killing the game. Players have had career altering injuries trying to avoid these shit penalties. They need to implement something to challenge the penalty on the field or stop being the No Fun League
One of the hardest penalties to call is when a running back/wide receiver lowers their helmet to initiate contact but the defender already lowered their shoulder to hit them...the shoulder will hit the offensive players head but its called "contact with head" on the defense...makes it hard to play defense. That's the one rule that should die

12:06 is an interesting example against letting the play play-out. Remember in-review the replay must be clear and obvious that the call on the field was wrong. If there is any doubt or question, the officials should let the call on the field stand. In this case, I’m not 100% convinced the call on the field was wrong so would agree with letting the call on the field stand using the clear and obvious standard. In the same way, had they ruled incomplete pass on the field, there wouldn’t have been clear and obvious evidence to change that call either. Classic example of being such a close play that no matter what they called on the field, it was going to stand.
The roughing the passer call at 2:45 is correct by rule. The rule prohibits a defender from falling on top of the passer with his body weight. Also, the roughing the passer the call at 3:10 is correct. The defender clearly hits the passer in the helmet. You can see his helmet drop down, and at 3:15, you can see the helmet has been pushed down over the passer's eyes.

Watched that back so many times from different angles and EVERYONE saw that it was a Lateral. Didn't cost them the game, points wise, but that was a real kick in the balls for their momentum.
No if you watch the replay, when Leonard lets go of the football, the ball is at the 24, and when Rodgers catches the ball, the ball is past the 25. The ball traveled about 1.5 yards forward while it was in the air. I get that it doesn’t really look or feel like a forward pass, but if the ball is initially traveling forward after leaving the passer’s hands (which it was because it went 1.5 yards forward in a straight line) it has to be called a forward pass.
This might seem really stupid to say but I'm so glad I'm just a casual viewer of the crap that happens in the NFL because I don't think I could ever take the stupidity that these refs display on a daily basis.
I'm just gonna offer my view as a long-time umpire: there is a lot of crap in the pit that isn't being caught, and things that are being called that shouldn't, because the umpires these days are in the offensive backfield.

Officiating in the NFL is horrendous. In my view the main problem is the refs are simply too old. Tony Corrente, for instance, is 69 years old! There is no way the refs that age can really keep up with fast, athletic players (40 years their junior) and officiate a game fairly.
I know players get fined for these penalties, and I hope they get some of these fines overturned for bs calls by these refs. It was especially really bad during the chiefs game. Both sides got away with fouls and had bad fouls called. I'm surprised that game did not turn in to a brawl with how bad the referee calls were.
Pretty sure they have people go through every game looking for fineable penalties regardless if they were called or not. I'd hope they just decide all fine decisions that way and don't fine them if it was a bad call. But it's the NFL so that might be hoping for too much
For the Josh gordon KC call a reciever may only do what Josh gordon did (begin blocking) once the ball has been caught by another reciever, I believe he was trying to pass it off as hand checking but just extremely poorly, was a good call
Ironically enough the ones shown in the video were the better calls not the bs ones like the rtp on Mahomes, a pi call for a very clear uncatchable ball, a phantom holding call on the bills, and none of the holding calls on the chiefs
With so many of these kind of calls it makes ya wonder if the mob is determining the outcomes of nearly every game. Or maybe Vegas to make as much money as possible.

surprised to not see the delay of game no-call from the BAL/DET game. which woul've made the recording-breaking, game-winning 66 yard. FG a 71 yard hail mary attempt.
Holding by offensive lineman happens on every offensive snap which makes the case that calling holding is an attempt at dictating the pace of the game or controlling the outcome by the refs. Watch any game where holding is called at least 4 to 5 times on one team, all of a sudden, after the flags, that qb is getting sacked more or has even less time to throw and is constantly running. Some o-lines are bad, but the pattern holds. Continually watching teams committing the same penalties and not getting called while their opponents are flagged into submission for the same penalties is getting real old.
Also, the 33 yard penalty from the Browns vs Chargers game, 4th and 4, 9:10 to go, Chargers don't get that flag, Cleveland wins because that puts them in field goal range automatically. It was a game deciding bad call.
Why don't they go after the arm of the QB and the same thing in boxing, if you can't hit or raise your arms you are done. After 5 rounds you have a puppet for an opponent, that can't punch or defend and since the arms out in front hitting the deltoid and triceps are easy and if you have been punched in the arm, you know that it hurts and repeated punches will disable.
