Our cat & Dog grew up together and were inseparable. Our cat would only drink from the dogs bowl. They slept together, played together and we took them on walks together since we leash trained our cat. When we had to put our dog to sleep after cancer spread our cat would sit in our dining room at night and cry for hours, our cat did this for over 2 months. It was so heartbreaking and even worse since we were having a hard time with our dogs death as well.
So sorry to hear that. I have a similar pair. They're both turning 5 this year. I hope you all are in a better place now. You gave that dog the best life .

I had 2 rescue cats...when a person was going to take 10 yr Dach mix to shelter.... So I adopted/rescued within a month my white 5yr old cat..🤩would nap with her & cats paw over her belly...for almost 5 yrs til she passed. Animals have great instincts to help each other.

Haha my brothers dog and cat do a similar thing. The cat will lay on his back and paw at the dogs head, while the (much larger) dog puts his jaws around the cat’s belly and rocks him back and forth. It was a little scary at first but luckily they both have a great understanding of boundaries, and they both really seem to enjoy it

When they grow up like this togheter, cats n doggos becomes crazy close. More than between 2dogs i think. They do superduper wierd things to eachother,they dont hold back cause they dont have to follow their own animal characteristic. Its a real joy to behold..
Fun fact: cats don't know they're cats. They learn how to behave by observing the animals around them in the first few months of life. This cat is such good friends with the dog because it thinks it is one.

When my family adopted out golden retriever Ellie, we got a cat at the same time and they grew up together and were best friends. A few days ago we had to put Ellie down. Our cat has been so confused and sad lately.
Getting two young animals at the same time is actually the way to go. They can bond really quickly. We recently got a 9 mo "puppy" and are trying to acclimate our 7yo cats to her. It's taking a LONG time.
