  • In this video, I'll show you a drawing technique I call "cloud sketching". It's about simplifying the objects you're sketching, break them down into their main elements and start drawing them using big could-like volumes. Use this technique to draw anything you like!

the idea of this channel was great. I thought "wow finally industrial design lessons with order and from a professional educated at Umea and SPD. From the basics to an advanced level". Too good to be true.
Is a sketch of a sport car (that you can watch on the other channel) part of a basic sketching class? I don't think so and I'm sure about it.
From a mug to a sort of Ferrari/Alfa Romeo, clearly enough complex and finally to a hat. This is an order and a method?
This is a completely random way to teach product design sketching. The first lesson was about ellipses and the second about straight lines. Maybe it should be the opposite. Why don't you do simple things like flip phones and hairdryer? maybe step by step. After you go with the cloud sketching method.
Freedom follows strong foundations, or not?
Why don't you teach to sketch in the same way they do in the schools, from the basics, using the theory and helping thousands of people that cannot afford online expensive classes.
Chou Tac teaches to draw for a s..tload of money but in a very long time and with an academic method fused with his work experience.
You could do the same here and time is not a problem.
Am I going to learn a good method on this new channel? You tell me.
At the moment it seems like that the Scott Robertson book of drawing is much more boring than your videos but at least it follows the same method he used at Pasadena and it spaces from foundations to simple objects, vehicles, architecture, spaceships, etc...Never rushing.
Sorry, I was expecting a lot from the only channel designed to teach how to sketch everything like a pro.

Hey Giuseppe, first off - this is a RUclips channel, not an industrial design university class. I do this for free. I teach it the way I prefer to teach it. It won't apply and appeal to everyone, but as you mentioned yourself, there are plenty of other "traditional" sketch teachers out there that might suit your learning style better. Whether you will learn from this channel or not is up to you. If the channel isn't up to your standards, you simply can choose to watch videos that are.
      All the best

@@Bembli I was really not expecting a very different answer from you. It's a bit like to read something "the toy is mine and we play with my rules."
You asked about a suggestion for the name of the new channel. Why didn't you ask also for the content? We have opinions and we're are your public.
Anyway, first thing you are right saying that you don't run a private University and that you decide the programs and the methods.
I do not agree about the fact that you do it for free, on RUclips.
I like your standards as a designer and also for this reason it's years that i follow your channel. More than you can imagine.
For this same reason i asked you to do something that NO ONE EVER did on you tube (about design), to teach what you have learnt, following a rational but independent program, a mix of school and career. I've never asked you to create an " Industrial design University" but to transmit, in the best possible way, your knowledge to all that people that cannot afford private and expensive courses.
It's your choice. I think that the most of your visitors would appreciate it. The comparison between you and the other instructors i wrote about, was mostly about the fact that you freely chose to start and stay on RUclips. They didn't, starting here to create a platform on other channels, just to charge (as you could do) a lot of money. For this reason i followed you!
Yes, i don't understand why you want to teach how to sketch a car to people that cannot draw parallel lines but you do the program and the video.
Following your invitation, i will choose to continue to follow you or not. Mostly i will.
But, not expecting a red heart close to this comment, i invite you to answer me, just to tell me what you think about my suggestion.
Next time, please, don't plug a neon on my comment, like to send a message to the folks. My name and my words could become a target for harsh comments.
I hope you didn't think about the chance.
Ti saluto (i'm sure you still remember some Italian)
      G.N.

@@catnip2696 Did they really teach you, during your first lesson, in class, how to draw ellipses and wheels to obtain sport tires? And how to draw parallel lines and various techniques and exercises, to give muscle memory to your arm, to connect 2 and more dots with a single line, during the second lesson? For real? I'm not judging. I would be surprised, just this.

Man, i just discovered your channel. I always wondered how this technique can be called, and it is really a clouds ) thank you! A little story - when i was going for university, my before-exam teacher had given us this ninja technique. I was blown away because it is literally reduce your fatique of meticulously measure anything and fail because you failed one measure or proportion or perspective calcs. You know i mean the most traditional drawing which have TIME to draw foundations and grow them on paper in 6 hours span. This cloud technique is really awesome because in long run it make you able place in good composition and overall proportions anything on paper. And we humans also view things starting from overall shape which is helps a lot. So traditional thing like figure or still-life can be started from cloud which is amazingly close to real one in proportions and this is so cheap for our brains because this is like natural ability for us from ancient times to recognize silhouettes. In cardesign this technique also have benefit of helping make everything more aerodynamic, more rounded in natural way and so on. Almost only benefits. For one i think it would be best to know how to use many methods of srawing foundations because it will give you freedom - the paper is cleaner the process is faster, the hands+brain works in ultimate unity

I love this channel! Already bought the course on Udemy but it's really great to see these basics for free on here too! Great inspiration for starters like me and great tips to keep in mind for the future. And btw if I'm understanding it right, the clouds just work like a mental aid to just start sketching? To Just have fun with it and not get caught up but at the same time provide a very rough plane to map the perspective on? Hope i got it right :) Keep it up, lovin' it!

You abandoned the sketch academy. I told you, you were not creating the correct approach. This channel is just a clone of the older brother.
You wrote on this same page your points against my complaints and requests. You were going to do great things with your method, as you meant.
You did but when you do not monetize you don't want to dedicate any more time to this huge work of educating people.
    I'm sorry it went wrong.
Why don't you try listening your public requests, first.
Maybe a more formal program could help the channel.
When they do it teaching math, they never fail and people continue to follow until the end.
Let's see what's going to happen.
    Best regards.
