Band-Maid always makes us smile! Another song thanking the fans, love these ladies!
It might be because most of the song is in Japanese, but “Your smile makes me happy,” just hits different. There’s a sincerity to it that’s rare in music. That line says everything.
God I Love this performance! 😍😍😍😍😍
Lead Vocals - Saiki is my Queen
Lead Guitar- Kanami is my Princess
Drums - Akane is my Godess
Rythm Guitar - Miku is my Inspiration
Bass - MISA is my Soul
❤💙💚💛💜’’’ YOUR SMILE MAKE ME HAPPY’’’’🙏
Several acoustic versions of this. And the original electric one as well.
Saiki did a pop song "Wonder" with the band Unchain. I believe Miku wrote lyrics for the song.
Miku has done a mini-album of pop songs under her alter-ego 'Cluppo' and an anime theme, "With You" that I really like.
"Smile" is among my Band-Maid Favorites. Band-Maid asked one of their earlier songwriters, Akutsu Kentaro, to write one last song for them, telling him that they wanted a "Thank you" song for their fans. In Band-Maid's early days, Kentaro was the songwriter they liked working with the most and was the one who wrote "Thrill", which went viral for them. Miku wrote the lyrics for "Smile" and if you read the translated lyrics, you'll see that "Smile \" is as much a 'thank you' to Kentaro as it is to the fans and the other band members.
Kanami is hearing every note being played. Watch her face towards the end. She looks satisfied at how the song sounded all the way through.
Harmonies between Saiki and Miku 🤩. It’s a great song
The Maids are masters at genre melding, transitions, riff production, structure, execution, and smiles! ;-)) Thx, Ords!
Besides the "your smile makes me happy" line the other lyric in this song that hits me is "even nobody's like us can become something" just down to earth people that appreciate life.
I love the look on Kanamis' face, I can just about see the wheels turning in her head as the song runs thru her mind
This is still my favorite vocal performance from Saiki ever, gets me every time.
No need for a pop album imo, as we have their acoustic okyujis for that 🙂
Weirdly if you want a pop album then that's Miku's side project Cluppo
I'm glad to know that my smile from watching them makes them smile while watching us. 😁😁 I'm also thankful to all their fans who show up to their shows no matter the distance, buy everything they sell no matter the cost, and showing them the love and respect, they deserve. Man, do we have a good thing going! 🤘
Which is exactly why I buy the merch immediately upon release because it sells out quick!🤣
This song..
😍🤩😍🤩
This is part of the trilogy of the fan songs smile , momeroble, n about us , written for us maidiacs
Maybe I should do a live and react to all of them?
@@ReactAttack90 I think you've done memorable already maybe?
@@ReactAttack90 yes lLive it is….. but I live Melbourne so only available weekend😅😅😅😅.
Yep, Saiki is a natural alto, and her voice is straight up beautiful for ballads in this vocal range. She can make you feel things intensely without uttering a word you can understand. Of course, the lyrics of this song speak to the fans ("your smile makes me happy", and "it's a special view.") It is also true that her voice can be one of the greatest hard rock voices out there, and for me the song that shows that off the most is "Can't Live Without You" live. My favorite version of that one is from the Line Cube Shibuya Blu Ray, but the studio version from the album is also killer.
Many a tough guy melts to the will of the Maids.
What doesn't melt me makes me stronger...Damn why do have to be so melty :)
The emotions run high on this one, and Miku's harmonies are gorgeous. How can anyone not love this song? 👍
Here is an info file I wrote about the "Smile Trilogy" of Smile, About US and Memorable.
This is part of what I call the "Smile" trilogy. The first song being Smile, the "B-side" to their song Bubble. The music was written by Kentaro Akutsu who wrote their breakout song "Thrill" but with lyrics by Miku. The second song is "About US" a love song to their fans during the lockdowns written by the Ladies themselves. When it was performed live for the first time during their on-line concert to replace their canceled Budokan concert, Saiki gave a brief speech before the song started, that had many of us getting attacked by dust. Then the song itself brought out the onion ninjas and made many us have allergy attacks as well.
Then we have "Memorable". It was almost 3 years since the Ladies had last toured the US, and they were concerned they had lost their momentum. Even though being told they were selling out their shows, they didn't believe what they were being told, they thought their management was lying to them or playing a joke on them. They came over and performed at Aftershock, then they got on their tour bus, (A first for them, as they normally would either fly or rent a couple vans to tour in) and drove to their first show of their 2022 US Tour. Seattle.
It was at Seattle, that the Ladies got confirmation of just how much their fans love them and how much we missed them. As they walked out on stage, according to several people who were at the show, they were shocked. And Saiki as she came out, was said to have looked like someone had hit her with a bat, her eyes were so wide. The crowd response, and the emotions coming off them fed the Ladies energy as the performed their show. And as they went to their next concert, the response there was the same. And the next show, with the fans sending gifts for MISA's birthday, having several hundred custom printed towels handed out to the audience celebrating MISA's birthday. All these things hit the Ladies in their hearts.
And Kanami had an idea for a new song.
This next part is hearsay so I have no way of confirming it, but the sounds at the beginning before the guitar part starts was the sound that Kanami heard while back stage at the Los Angeles show. Hearing music and the audience talking. Supposedly, she actually recorded it on her phone before their introduction music started playing. Again that is hearsay and I have no way to confirm it.
But from the L.A. show Kanami started writing the vocal melody line. If you have a chance to watch the Behind the scenes documentary from their TGT Concert DVD-BD, Kanami discusses and sings the vocal melody. She later sang and played it to Saiki and Saiki told Kanami to finish the song, then Saiki and Miku wrote the lyrics together.
The lyrics are about looking out into the audience while being up on stage, and seeing the smiles of their "Masters and Princesses" And how much that means to them, the Ladies of Band-Maid, and how much they love us as their fans, and how much they feel our love of them as performers.
The Ladies finished the song after they returned home to Japan, and worked it up, and performed it live for the first time at their January 9th concert at the Tokyo Gardens Theater, which was later released as a DVD/BD with the BTS Documentary. But just a month after their concert at TGT, they were back in the US as the opening band for the "Last Rock Stars" a Japanese supergroup, for 3 shows. Two in New York and one in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, the outside desert portion of this video were recorded, just outside of Lancaster California, the performance portions were taken from the very first live performance at the TGT.
So know you know the story behind the song. It is a love song from the Ladies of the band, to their fans, telling us how we lift them up, and how they love being able to perform for us.
As I wrote at the very beginning, this is the 3 song of the trilogy, and all of them are about how much the Ladies love us their fans. And for that, we love them back.
Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid. When I'm feeling a little down, i listen to this song and it always makes me feel better.
All the ballads like Smile are sublimated by Saiki who expresses all her feelings through her voice to move us. A simple message of love to all the fans.🥲❤
This song just makes me Smile ear to ear.😁 Just have to love the diversity of styles these ladies can do. And I agree with you, Saiki's voice, as powerful as it is for rock and why she was looked at for Band-Maid, she has a very "in the pocket" tone for these types of songs. If you ever watch the entire show of either of their acoustic live shows, 2021 Christmas Live Acoustic from Yokohama or the 2024 Line Cube Shibuya show, you see how right you are. Although they all do an amazing job, vocals stand out in the acoustic format. Even for Miku. Four more days...sigh... PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
IMO, Daydreaming is the highlight of Shibuya acoustic okyuji. Because seeing them all play this song together for the first time, Saiki on keyboard and the other Maids with their own instrument, which has a special sentimental value for me, is an unforgettable moment.🥲
@@Kissthetoad321 I really wanted Kanami to do a variation of the Yokohama Arena intro on the acoustic. That would have taken it over the top. Although you're right, the Line Cube version with Saiki on the piano was amazing.🔥🔥🔥 PO!🕊
It's funny you say that because when they started up Saiki was completely opposed to love songs.
Where's my Don't Be Long😊
PS. I don't think she minds singing about their love for their fans
Love this beautiful song... makes me smile ever time. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Rich Robinson from Black Crowes plays the same Zemaitis acoustic Miku has. No solo pop album by Saiki, but Miku...check out Cluppo
Love some Black Crowes! Going to see them in Oct.
This version is my favourite- just beautiful. KANAMI-Genius. You are correct- Saiki's vocals on the slower songs are just other worldly. I also think that Saiki should do something solo, especially in English- world fame immediately.
I believe acoustic Saiki is the best Saiki. Hope they put out their recent acoustic concert from earlier this year on Bluray, or on Prime.
Yeah, I recorded that acoustic...can't be a one time only experience! Saiki's piano Choose Me rendition once again and her doing piano intro and accompaniment to Daydreaming...Sublime. Consider the amazing progress of her band mates...but now Saiki is suddenly on path of growth where she can be a standalone artist any time she likes 👌💪❤🔥
This song was not written by not Kanami, but a professional song writer. And their outside professional writer had been phenomenal jobs too. "Thrill", "Real Existance", and "Freedom" were written by them,
I think he was a superb producer and mentor too...no doubt helped Kanami unlock her superpowers to produce her and the band's compositions.
Wonderful song. Miku's lyrics iirc are a love letter to their fans. From when they first started out, all of the maids have made incredible growth as musicians. But I think the two that have made the most dramatic growth is Saiki and Miku. Miku for obvious reasons, as she never played guitar when the band formed. And Saiki, when you hear her voice through the years, seems to have really put the work into becoming a dynamic and world class vocalist and performer. Her voice after the surgery seems to have become more versatile, strong and rich, and she sings with impressive stamina and breath (Miku also here). Versatility is I think Saiki's superpower; her tonal range is impressive. I know Saiki's voice sounds pretty poppy to you, but to me it's too deep and powerful for typical pop. Probably Band-Maid's most poppy song is "Start Over" - might want to check it out if you're curious how Band-Maid sounds doing pop (iirc, Kanami wrote "Start Over" because the band wanted a simple song that could be sung in Karaoke).
Btw, you might want to check out "Afterlife" MV as well. It's a really fun song, which Kanami wrote after Saiki asked her to write a song like the earlier "Choose Me." It's interesting because the two songs sound nothing alike to me.
❤❤❤❤❤
Since you're coming to the end of the 30 days I wonder if it's still worth it to give a super thanks for a song.
Ai to Jonetsu no Matador ( Love Passion Matador) is technically their first single. But when it came to doing their first video they chose the B side which was Thrill. Ai to Jonetsu no Matador is completely different from anything you've heard from them and I'd really like to have you react to it. So let me know if there's still time.
PS. It has to be the audio not the acoustic video
For the love of Santana...YES 👌👍
You are always welcome to request songs. Does not have to anything special going on.
🤘🤘🤘
This is the first of three songs as a love letter to their fans. About Us and Memorable are the other two.
the original version of this song is a way faster with an impressive drum by Akane, check it
Why do you keep hitting pause mid-word? Kinda wrecks their video, bro.
then go watch it on there channel
🤘🤘🤘
