    People talk about Messi's dribbling, finishing, passing etc. But to me his most important ability that doesnt get enough credit is his intelligence. Messi is by far the most logical player in football history. He analyzes every movement before even receiving the ball. This is why you can breakdown even something like his turn of pace or dribbling to a science like in this video. There is a rationale behind his decision. This is why SAF once said Messi plays the game like we play Playstation. What makes Playstation easy for casual gamerss the bird eye view we get. We can properly analyze every move from the top so it makes us easier to plan out an attack. Also why sometimes we get frustrated at players for not making the simplest past forward etc, they dont get our bird's eye view so a pass that seems obvious for us from the TV screen isnt as obvious when you only have a lateral view on the pitchy.. But, Messi is the only player who almost has the same bird eye view when he gets the ball. He knows exactly where to get space, and when to make the right pass. This is why too us it makes no sense how he can casually go pass 5 players like it was nothing.

    • @3cbperformance
      @3cbperformance  3 года назад +6

      Yep, well said. I typically refer to that as the perceive-process-act chain. Messi's ability on the former 2 is just unheard of and he's able to take the snapshot, execute his action and then do it all over again immediately

    • @ladymaria9529
      @ladymaria9529 3 года назад +54

      Pretty sure he did all that. He always knows exactly every defender spot. The instinct u talked is based on his thinking and analizing and learning of situations when he doesn't on field, for years. It's hard to take ball of him in legit way.

    also he only moves the ball just a little so its never out of reach but enough so the rivals cant touch it he moves a lot and sometimes the ball barely moves , and if by chance he loses contact with the ball the ball will stop on its own look for messi and comeback to him or go straight to the net because messi command it with his mind

    Just wondering is it possibly for someone taller around 6 foot to lower there Center of gravity and be able to have Leo like balance and agility or is it physically impossible?

    • @3cbperformance
      @3cbperformance  4 года назад +3

      Aero Perhaps not to the extent of Leo but it’s certainly possibly. For example, there are NBA players like Kyrie Irving and James Harden who play relatively low to the ground

      Ronaldo fenomeno. Unfortunately due to him being a 6 feet tall his tendons couldn’t keep up with his style and at a very young age 23yo it snapped. There’s a video with clear view of his kneecap went up to his thigh because its tendon torn completely.
      Under 180cm is ideal for that dribbling style IMO.

    Disagree with your comment on his leg muscle and think it's quite naive, he has among the most highly developed leg muscles I've seen in the sport. He may not have gigantic muscles vs guys 2x his size but it's only relevant to your own body size. He's a small guy (which you mentioned) and very skinny everywhere else (not like he's doing bicep curls or bench) a key reason for his insane acceleration and change of direction is the huge portion of his bodyweight being in his leg muscles. His lower body looks like it belongs to someone else. He's not the only player with these traits. Look at Sergio Aguero and his leg development or Eden Hazard. All of these guys have low centre of gravity/incredibly well developed legs that are way way out of proportion to other muscle groups and share acceleration/change of direction as an asset.

      @@3cbperformance Bro it isn t true that Messi doesn t do bench presses right?I ve seen a real video of Leo in the gym doing bench presses with some good speed which means that performing the exercise with speed gives him the explosivness more right?And when he does a heavy bench press he improoves his strength in his upper body right?In that 1 video i also saw him do lateral raises bro man is beast

    I agree with everything you say, but where does raw technical ability with the ball fit into all this? Shouldn't that be its own category in a way? It's possible for someone to have great balance, coordination, center of mass, and mental speed and still be a poor dribbler. In addition to everything you point out, he has natural ball control ability that no one else has.

    • @3cbperformance
      @3cbperformance  2 года назад

      Of course that comes into play but we can't control for that. That being said, Messi also attributes his "natural" raw ability to how he trained as a kid - namely, playing in a narrow alley with 3 older brothers lol

  • @noviceelite

      Not sure why whether Messi thinks about his talents or not is relevant to making a video on it. The point is to show what makes him great and learn from it

    i play for atletico madrid here in spain i’m 16 playing with u19 and my play style is similar if not exactly like lionel messi and this is not true because we don’t think when we have the ball we play off of instinct,reaction, speed of play and common sense that’s all

      Firstly, well done on playing for Atleti’s U19 mate!
      Secondly, I never said Messi or any other player thinks about these things while playing. Rather, they’re teaching & learning points that underlie his ability.

      Stacked around midline means he's very balanced when he moves, his body is always working in conjunction
      There's no video I know of to "correct" center of mass. Further, if you have movement issues, that would require an actual assessment.
