Practice is key, play with settings, play with distance from material with the torch, play with torch angles, don’t worry about trying to get cool patterns if you’re doing small diy jobs just push the weld pool straight. Have fun with it and don’t get discouraged with bad looking welds just experiment maybe seek advice from someone in the know before you know it you’ll lay some decent welds. And then brag about it of course.

Qualified welder here, I build aluminium Ute trays day in day out, great vid mate, the welding community is full of old toxic blokes with nothing positive to say,
My one tip to people wanting to learn aluminium tig is, never grind your welds back flush, you get a lot more strength from leaving them proud, I’ve seen a lot of young blokes with homemade trays that have cracked were they’ve ground back the tig welds

There are plenty of Video's on RUclips on how to Weld. Most are just plain boring. This one was entertaining. Keep it going.

Super appreciate this kind of video, Sam. I’ve been following the channel a long, long, time and the educational videos are my favorites. Part of the BNB ethos is to risk learning new skills and to hear your thoughts on different aspects of that is really encouraging.

I herd a old boilermaker say "the recommend setting are correct, because most quality jobs are pre heated to get the best penetration and a strong clean weld", if that makes sense. Don't quote me on that it just the info he passed on during a Tafe course.

Ignore the haters Sam. I'm confident you have more supporters than detractors. Thanks for sharing your welding experience with us novice welders.

Great work Sam. I’m much like you with learning to weld myself at home. My new welder is a weapon but I struggle with setting the inductance.

just a suggestion with the gas ur using, u should try using a c02 mix gas as it will get u better speed and more peno and it will sound a lot different, where using argon 5/2 has slightly less peno but ur video is informative for people starting out. so just a suggestion and i'm a qualified welder and not all of us r like u said

I started with arc welding and oxy acetylene. Went to mig. Then tig. Takes a lot of time to get good.

G'day and cheers mate. Love the way you get your content across ❤🇦🇺
I started welding from stick then to mig but still only have about 20 hrs exp all up. Ive done things from build basic frames to re skinning and trailer skinning a trailer. I've made and replaced panels and re welded a roof cut on a project rally UC to LH dirt to rally/track fun car. I have watched a few vids about welding and I think with every vid I watch, I pick up more and more. I did like the quicker flow video like yours.
I'm super keen to learn car 12 volt dual battery set ups and stand alone solar for dummies. Always wanted to but Im pretty green when it comes to that stuff bro. I used to blow up car stereos on simple installs and I haven't gotten much better 😂🤦‍♂️. I've just got an 07 nav and want to do a budget build over time for a daily and weekend or holiday adventures.
Cheers mate look forward to the next vid 🤙🍻

You will also get a better Finished welding if you grind of the Mill Scale which is the dark grey layer on mild steel😊

  • @adamdalton9804

Another tip if you want it. I noticed the aluminium pipe you were welding you backstepped the welds. It leaves a bunch of craters around it. For something like this just start the arc on the crater and continue forward ( for tig only).
Also with aluminium mig a dual pulse machine helps alot.
But not a bad video for beginners. There are some on youtube that are terrible.

Good video, Sam, but please cover up your skin mate.
    I don't want you getting the big"C"
See too many guys welding without both hands gloved long sleeves etc etc you even mentioned being worse than Sunburn.
Keep up the great content gets me through miserable rainy days here in the uk.
Good news is I'll be in Australia next week 😎 and sunny coast late March
Just bought my 1st multi set so learning tig next on the list
hopefully get my patrol finally finished when I get home M57 & 8hp near complete but crap weather holding me back as its an outside build won't fit in my garage

It would also be good to tell people the gas flow rate for your shielding gas as I found if you use to much it will also give you a sit job by blowing the arc away

Can't do skilled welding just does hot glue gun welding

    • @TheJanope13
      @TheJanope13 5 месяцев назад

because it's just not practical to use in automotive applications. you really need atleast 3mm thick steel to not blow holes all over it. experienced professionals can do it but even then its just not practical.

No wonder you got done for dangerous driving ...... driving anything you did welding on would be dangerous. If only you'd got an 18 month suspension from welding the world would be a much safer place.
