If you came here just for the video of me wearing the pack you can find that at 13:26. Thanks so much for the support and let me know if you've got any questions about this pack!
When I had a Dell XPS 15, this was my main workbag, and it was a bit of a struggle to zip it due to all of my other crap in it! The Surface Lap fits know problem. Pros? The XPS 15 helped break in the bag a lot quicker, and the compact size really worked with my 5'5" height.. Cons? I didn't like the lack of space it afforded me for work supplies, lunch bag, a jacket, etc. I ended up upgrading to a GR1 for my workbag, but the Echo is my official travel/daily do whatever bag. It's my favorite!
Interesting seeing the differences between your Echo and mine. I have the OG Echo. It is not clam shell opening and the document pocket is actually mesh. The bottom of mine is ballistic cordura. Pretty sure mine is even smaller overall too.
it has an exit port for a hydration bladder but does it have anything to attach the top of the bladder to or does half of the bladder just flop around?
Hey, I’ve been looking for the echo version because I am 5’1 but sadly it’s discontinued now. Would like to buy your bag since you mentioned it’s too small for you. I would gladly appreciate it.
Brian many thanks for this review. I recently bought the Echo (my first ever Goruck) and for my height (5’ 6”) it is proportioned perfectly. I’ve been using it as my daily carry to work and typically carry a 13” laptop, Bose QC35 headphones & case, a 600ml water bottle, umbrella, A5 notebook, chargers, keys and some snacks. So there is ample capacity despite its 16l size. Out of interest if the powers that be were to take all your Goruck bags and you were allowed to keep only one which one would you keep?
It holds a ton right? I'm so glad it's working out amazing for you! When I first pulled it out of the box I wasn't sure it would hold enough but it somehow fits everything you'd need. If I were allowed to keep only one pack it would either be my GR1 from 2011, GR1 Heritage from 6 months ago, or the red CPL24 from EVERGOODS... that's a real tough one! Maybe that original GR1 😁
All Day Ruckoff yes for its size it’s remarkably spacious. As a late arrived to the brand I’m also very impressed with the quality and am now seriously considering getting the GR2 34l as a one bag travel bag for vacation and so on. Thank you again for a great review and the other reviews I’m now watching
When I put them all up I was pretty excited. After my wife took one look at it I think making them accessable in this fashion might have been a bad idea. There's a chance either bags are going or purses are coming 😂
You do all of these reviews why not say um this is the exact same bag as the gr1 minus 5liters and side molle? Same with the heritage you make this huge deal about it um...hey everyone this is the exact same bag as the normal gr1 that I’ve been talking about for years oh the material is different that’s it. That would save you about 20 minutes.
I go into depth on each pack because not everyone knows about every pack GORUCK makes or has seen any of the other videos. If I was making a video for someone who knew GORUCK's complete lineup of packs I'd say it's the Bullet 15 just shorter, wider, one less row of webbing, and a laptop compartment. Or it's the GR1 just without a frame sheet, side webbing, 5 liters, and one less row of webbing on the front. The majority of the people out there who know all of that information don't need to be watching a GORUCK Echo Backpack Review video. They know what the Echo is and they know if it's right for them or not. That being said there are people who will find this video who have never seen the Bullet 15, the GR1, and some who don't even know what GORUCK packs look like. They might be looking for a bag and their friend might have just recommended GORUCK. They search for GORUCK Echo Review on Google and, as of writing this reply, this video shows up on the first page. They click it and it's a 45 second video of me saying, "For $195 you get a GR1 minus 5 liters, minus side webbing, minus a frame sheet, and minus one row of webbing below the zipper pocket. Attitude is everything, keep yours positive. Drink hard, ruck Harder." If they don't have the frame of reference then that's a pretty unhelpful video for them. I hope this video helps those people. People who have been looking at the recently reduced Echo price on GORUCK's website day in and day out trying to figure out if it makes sense to them. Even on sale it's a ton of money and receiving something that's not what you expected can be a huge disappointment. I don't care if this video sells more or less packs for GORUCK I just hope less people are disappointed with their decision (whether to buy or not to buy) when they're done watching it. I know that's a long reply but I hope that answers the question!

Is it similar to the 511 rush 12, in size wise?
It's a bit smaller. The Echo is 16L and the Rush 12 is 24L. I guess mathematically speaking that makes the Echo 2/3 of the size of the Rush 12.
Your wife must buy Louis and Berkin purses for herself to let you bring home that wall full of backpacks!
