nice video, would you consider extending to show how you fill and use the shaker, I would be interested to see the 'how it works' part

I turned one of these two weeks ago! Unfortunately, didn't know what hole size to use for the funnel and made it to big, so way to much salt comes out on each shake. Will have to turn a new one with a smaller hole
It is surprising that you get a good dose of salt from that one 1/8" hole! 9/64" is so supposed to be a good size for pepper. Maybe you can remount on the lathe and turn away the old funnel and replace it?
I would try a coarser salt. Now grocery stores tend to have Kosher, Himalayan, Pink, etc.
@@MikePeaceWoodturning That's what all my family suggested, but I also like the idea of splitting this one in half to show and teach at the club. The good thing is I can always turn an other one!
@@bradbyers7505 unfortunately I went waaaaaaay to big. Was the first one I made with no kind of reference on heights, funnel distance from inside roof, hole diameter or anything. It was good practice though. I enjoyed the project and the challenge.
@@TomiLynchMay I suggest a simple fix without having to start over? If the hole is a “standard” dowel size, you can cut a short piece of dowel, glue it in the oversized hole and then rechuck the shaker and re-drill it with a long 1/8” drill bit. If it’s not a standard size, you could re-drill it to a standard size and plug it with a piece of dowel (or make your own custom size dowel we have a lathe- we can make those!😊
