I have a pair, they work pretty well with Rap and modern R&B. They can almost have a subwoofer type effect, like a car stereo. They can also interject some extra low end into older tracks that weren’t mixed with much sub energy. Sometimes I wish they had more upper mid presence though, I end up turning them up too loud because my ears want to hear those frequencies. They aren’t my preferred tuning but I keep them around for reference.
The ear shelf are designed like those of the legandary Sony R-10, a 5000 USD headphone 35 years ago. After the Sennheiser Orpheus the next league of headphones. Now you get the HE-R9 for 109 USD. It's the best bargain ever for headphones in the price segment under 500 USD. I've bought two HE-R0 three weeks ago. And I'm very very happy.
It seems like I have a new favorite reviewer. Not only that I feel that I can trust you completely (tired of all the shilling and overdone hype in the reviewing scene), but your opinions perfectly mirrored mine for 4 headphones I've owned in the past. I may not afford a +$1000 pair any time too soon, but I will make sure to stay tuned to your channel just in case I'll put my life together some time in the future. Excellent work! I hope you'll keep uploading content.
Got mine 4 days ago, agree with all the words u said but.. If I want more subbass which should I go Z7m2 or Argon MK3 or anything else? THANK for helpful advice!!
Hello Why nobody compare this with similar tuning meze 99 classics but compare this with openback headphones....tell me which is more balanced sound and better quality of sound...which is better of this two in all score for you? Thanks
@@amplifyaudioreviews Great, if you don't mind, could you briefly share what's better? I sold my 99C in hopes of getting something that's just as warm and enjoyable but with better resolution, Imaging...
I have these along with several other headphones….they compare with the Sivga SV021 Robin….both extremely fun headphones. The SV021 are warmer and female vocals sound better. These R9s are richer with better soundstage and presence.
I wonder how many people won't buy these simply because of the weird design. I know it's petty but they look really goofy which you mentioned in your review. A closed back to me is something I should able to take with me out in public and hopefully not look completely weird and these definitely don't fit that bill lol.
@@TC-bz8sm sound stage is surprising i wasn't expecting any sound stage they have a little bit of soundsstage but little. the bass is fun an makes genres of electric an etc even metal sound a little heavier. the drums sound really good. good drums good bass . the cymbals of drums are a bit not as good compared to other hifiman headphones. but if you love the drums or bass guitar its a steal. for 69 bucks. it will bring the bass out of any song. singled ended balanced wired is required if you want to run them balanced so thats another con. i couldnt really use my two sided balanced cables..
they fun headphones an work magic for some genres an some genres they arent the strongest. the weakness of theses are detail. but they def have a heavy good sound the strongs are the bass an some drums

Thank you for a comprehensive review! While they look weird, HIFIMAN is currently selling them for $79! Hmmmm.....

It's cool that it can be turned into a bluetooth headphone as well if you get the R2R bluetooth dongle as well

I have Fostex th x00 and wonder if these will sound as good or better then my fostex ?
@@max10hoop Highly doubt it.. The x00 are praised
The shape is pretty wild but I actually don't mind it.
How is Isolation!????
Hey. If you pair this headphone with warm bassy amp will it sound fine will it be too bassy and bloated?
Neutral better than dac

Does it scale with better amps?

Fair point.
Which Tube amp is behind you?
Pretty sure it's a Feliks Euforia
Euforia AE
I think the most stupid looking headphone you’ve worn (or anyone for that matter) is the Abyss AB1266 Phi TC
tbh those look no larger and goofier than ur average hifiman open planar
If you want a hear variety of good bass check out my Bass playlist.
Do share!
They were $69 dollars today (88%) off. Definitely don't need them, but I had to try them out.
