Great to see the 100 series spotlighted!
Thanks for this video. You have great presentation skills! The information was easily digestible and entertaining as well. I'm thinking about getting an LX470 as my runaround/offroader so this video was helpful. I'm subscribing!
Dude, this how every how to video should be made. Excellent job! Thank you for making and sharing the videos.
Thank you for this video and your entire detailed channel! I love it. I’ve got a 100 series that has a little rust on the body and I’m looking at what’s best to grind/wire brush off the rust then paint or address to keep from further rusting.
Just came across this video and though I would add another data point. 2001 LX, 315/75/16 Toyo Rts. Same manufacturer specs as the KM3, 34.6" tall and more importantly 12.3" wide. In the front pinch weld massaging is always required for this size, but I differ in the rest of my build. I use a 5MM slip-on spacer in the front to clear the stock upper control arm(it would be within mms of clearing without, but this is just insurance that it clears)...otherwise stock AHC suspension. Little bit of sensor lift(.5"to 1'). Similar rub in the rear and...and WheelerOffroad superbumpstops for an FJ cruiser in the front and they are fitting overall just fine. Tuck within the fenders nicely without the wider wheel spacers. With those upper control arms I would think you wouldn't need any spacers and might end up with a better overall experience. Anyway, just wanted to confirm that the claim that you need a body life and this and that to fit 35s is just not true. Maybe without ever rubbing or touching anywhere, but if you take the approach a little rub never hurt anyone...they fit just fine... Good to see a video from someone else running 315s...
Thank you for the great videos
Hey Chow, Slee updated their website showing Spidertrax 1.25" spacers available for the LC/LX. They now come in a grey color as opposed to the anodized blue. Cheers.
Amazon spacer seem scary but looked like it was a hub centric design
I used Spydertrax spacers with no issues
Much appreciation for doing this vid.
Hope it helps!
@@chowcares definitely. Specially since this is the longest topic of discussion on IH8MUD forums for 100 series.
change out those Front sway bar links for some Trail Tailor Extended ones to adjust your sway geometry for the lift, comes with new poly bushings and your stock ones are shot.
Yea mine are toast. The front suspension is due for a refresh soon
I removed my front sway bar altogether. Works for me.
Perfect!
Not sure if one of your other videos covers this.. have you regeared the LC since upgrading to these tires?
Do you have any issues driving on pavement with rear sway bar off? One of my rear link is broken, thinking maybe taken it off altogether. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
I don’t drive fast or corner hard so there’s no issue. I do notice a bit more body roll but that’s it
Thanks man!!
Hi you’re videos is a big help on my LC 100 modifications and repairs. I have a questions regarding installing the 35’s.
1. Did you change your gear ratio when you installed the 35’s?
2. Did you noticed a big change in driving performance ie. acceleration, braking etc.
Thank you.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have the same question. I'm running 33" and a lot of extra weight (ft & rr bumpers, winch, spare tire, rtt) and my 100 is feeling a bit sluggish on the highway. I'm considering having it regeared cause I want to move up to "almost 35's" same size as what you have. Did you have to regear? If not, does it feel like you need to regear?
Hi, just wondering, you said that you have removed the swaybar, I just lifted my HDJ100, can you just remove the swaybar without any modifications or what?
Excellent video! As soon as my AHC spacers arrive I am planning to put 35" on my HDJ 100.
That’s the spirit!!
@@chowcares do you know the offset on your rims?
i thnk the stock wheels are +50? somthing like that
@@chowcares ok. I have original Toyota rims 17x8 and those are +60.
Tuomas Haanpää i don’t think us versions of 100 series got the 17” wheel. Only 16 and 18
I also had to cut the inside bottom corner of my guard on my gu patrol, ive got a 2inch lift, after cutting the corners I've never had any problems at all
What's the roof rack that you're using?
I think your tire size worked out well. Seems like you got the largest tire you could..
Dont see any downside to your trim of the plastic or even the bit of seam weld. You did that very well.
I am not an off road guy yet.. do you think there is much capability difference between a 33 inch tire and your almost 35's ??. I know the .75 to .90 inch additional lift is helpful in the right places.
well, they are much more expensive, they put strain on gearbox, they are harder to replace in other countries...etc...33" is the best size, 35" if you want to rock crawl
With a front bumper from arb. Should be a problem. Correct?
One more question. Where can i buy a sliders for LC100 ?
Nice. I have 1.75 inch spacers. I wonder if that allows for 315/75/16s up front.
It should, depending what offset wheels you’re running
@@chowcares sweet! I got the same wheels as you. I love the stock 16s!
What’s your mpg with the 35’s?
I had 35's and started running through yearly steering racks, so I went down to 32's
Only way to gain more flex out of the front of the 100 is to increase the droop by using longer front shocks. Those OME shocks are rubbish and are pretty much the same length as a factory shock.
The maximum length shock you can use is around 20mm longer that factory.
Where the shock mounts It's nearly a 2:1 ratio, so with a 20mm longer shock it will give you nearly 40mm of extra down travel at the wheels.
And to make good use of those Spc UCAs, you really should find some longer shocks, only then will you will need to do the diff drop. No point doing a diff drop if you dont have any extra down travel.
That makes much sense. Also a reason why I haven’t done the diff drop yet. I think one of the fronts are already blown so maybe it’s time to upgrade
@@chowcares Yep, those OME shocks wont last long, they're not good at controlling the front end of a heavily sprung 100, especially when adding big heavy tires.
To get the length and valving required I used the stage 4 Icons cdc in front and rear of my 100. It was seriously the best thing I have done to mine. Way more flex and amazing high and low speed bump control. Also bonus here in Aus they custom valve them to better suit our outback track conditions.
And no need to remove swaybar in rear with longer shocks, I just used longer drop links. However, I did have to use a much longer brake line with all the extra droop.
What did you do with the AHC system?
I have steel wheels on LC100. 2006 Diesel model. Can you suggest any link for alloy wheels 5x150 in 16 inch rims. Fitting standard 275/70 R16 tyres.
If you have the 16” steelies I would gladly trade you for my alloys!!
How did you get the front spacer to work with the drive flange bolts? They aren’t machined to clear them.
They clear without any modification.
@@chowcares thanks for confirming! I was always hesitant on buying based on reviews.. did you use any sort of thread locker for the nuts?
d4nvu nope, just torque down to factory specs. So far never had any issue
Sooooo, let me see if i got this straight... 315/75r16 with (mild 2 inch lift) stock oem upper control arms, front fender pinch weld clearance mod and inner liner heat/reform and stock oem rims w/no spacers will clear these tires on a 100 or?
I just rewatched video and I'm way off..lol... spacers and aftermarket upper control arms necessary to run tires? If spacers are nessacery ehat us the minimum spacer width needed? Or what backspacing/ offset is necessary to on aftermarket rim to clear without spacer?
I have a question. Does the Toyota LC 100 series come with the Automatic Height Control or is that just the LX470 version?
Mine did not. Maybe the later models did?
2000-07 LC had AHC
Do you think ill be able to run this setup on a 2006 LX-470 with stock suspension? AHC Intact.
You’d probably need some lift
not with stock front bumper, or a lot of the interior of front wheel well / pinch weld

Whats wheels are those?
I checked the reviews for the spacer, and most of the people are saying that is not fit on the 100 series. did you get it from there?
the ones i used on the car are no longer available. i updated the link to this: amzn.to/2NAzsrR
@@chowcares did you sell your 285/75/16?
payam karimi I had 295/75/16 before, sold them to go bigger
@@chowcares the updated link also do not fit. :( Thank you for providing links though!
d4nvu I’m on a mission rn to find the one that fits, stay tuned!!
How does it tow? Thnks
Tried to tow my rx7, it’s slow
Try toyos want need larger tires
Why u need 35 I’m fine with 32
To save everyone the trouble, the spacers in the description will not clear the front hub. I bought them and confirming they do not clear!
Uh oh not good, let me remove the link
@@chowcares thanks for your awesome work for the community!!
d4nvu I just ordered all the spacers off amazon that are “suppose” to fit the 100. Gonna do a vid on just spacers soon so I’ll be able to tell everyone which ones actually fit
Your tyre is only a 34.6" not 35".
I feel sorry for Americans who own Toyota such a underrated car it’s all you see over here in Australia 🇦🇺
All we see in Canada is Hyundai's!
Jason Thorell fuckkkk that
Зря подкрылок так срезал, теперь там будет забиваться вся грязь летящая из под колеса и гнить вместе с крылом и порогом.
Bad advice !
Get offset rims! Much safer
Poor people have poor problems 😢
Don't do it !
Great video, but ARGHHHHH it’s pronounced EEEM U. FFS it’s a Down Under company. If you pronounced it like that here you’d last as long as a prawn in summer mate.
