@@Pepe-dq2ib Yeah, but the other problem for Sony is the fact that investors are going to realize that Sony has lost trust and because of this, they're most likely not going to be able to make more money cuz of them.
@@Rhino-Prime investors look at the profit and this was negligible, they actually gained ~24% in revenue compared to 2023 in gaming. Sony has many different sectors and their music is almost as big as their gaming. This would only slight hurt them if more than 80k steam helldivers actually boycotted instead of ~20k. I wouldn't be surprised the boycotts will still buy another Sony game next month if its good. Ghost of Tsushima 2 will be announced this or next month.

Sony Fault entirely because they stated in their TOS PSN for PC Games are optional. This overrode anything Steam stated on their store page. Sony changed this recently but well after Helldivers 2 came out!

They can. However Sony has rather good lawyers and unlike arrowhead they run their decisions by a legal team before going forward.
Chances are very high that Sony and arrowhead had contracts that describe a mandatory psn account but arrowhead made the account optional at launch because they couldn't figure out how to get the linking to work in time and where overwhelmed with all of the other launch issues. Steam sold the game worldwide as there were no mandatory psn requirements. This opens up both Sony and arrowhead to lawsuits for false advertising but ultimately Sony is in a much better legal position.

For the record, I also play on consoles, because of physical media, and the ability to rent the game before buying it.. If you game on PC in the modern day you are not allowed to truly OWN your games.. Microsoft said regarding windows 11, that you don't own anything on your PC as everything installed on a windows 11 PC is claimed by Microsoft.. This is why most PC players and users are on windows 10, and also why Microsoft is planning to force users of windows 10 to upgrade to windows 11.. In order to keep your system as windows 10 you might have to shut off windows update, or hack their PC.. Anyone on PC who wants to keep your software under your own ownership normally will either be forced to down grade to a system that is more under your own control like Windows 7 or Windows XP, or switch to Linux.
If you thought Nintendo, and Sony, were bad, Microsoft is just as bad, if not worse.. In My Book, they are all just as Bad, but Sony might not be completely lost to the dark side just, yet given the fact, that they just back tracked on Hell Divers 2.. Emphasis on "YET"..

I blame arrowhead a bit but lets be honest, they had on their helldiver steam page, "third party required psn account" like they can only do so much to warn people right?
The fact that it was being sold in other regions that cannot allow a psn account is ALL sony's fault. The publisher is in control of where the game is published.
Sony controls where the game is released they are the publisher. Also Sony had on their own support page that PC games can "optionally" link psn accounts but didn't require them.
Their own page, sony's page said you didn't NEED to link, only that it was encouraged and optional. On march 3rd when hell-divers update dropped Sony stealth edited their own page too.
Now the sony page warns that some games may REQUIRE a psn account, and that for such titles it IS NOT an optional requirement. So sony is 130% in the wrong.
The devs made some fucks up too, don't get me wrong for sure they did, however, they don't have the authority or power to make fuck ups as big as sony is making.

I'm just gonna repost one of my comments from another video:
Imo it's 3 companies' faults:
=Arrowhead for first agreeing to some of these terms, second for telling Sony that they won't require the PSN anymore the moment they decided to unlike the game when technical issues started happening (if Sony really wanted to keep it then they should've temporarily taken the game down/refused to allow the game to be purchased until the issues were fixed), and finally (their biggest mistake imo) was the the handling of the community when said community got pissed when this news of needing to link was announced days ago by some community managers (this is an issue that seems to be cropping up with all customer management tbh in all companies...the community shouldn't be trash talking fans when the company does something they don't like, their job is to take complaints forward it to the dev team/upper management and then leave it to them to decide on how things will get fixed...the moment they start trash talking the consumers they're asking for the company to get blacklisted (and it's not the first time this game's community management did this crap either which makes things worse).
-Sony for requiring this shit to begin with (likely to ban people just for saying shit they don't like, not even necessarily bannable offenses) selling it in countries that they know can't have PSN accounts (should be terms of a lawsuit if they don't make a workaround/exception to said countries' residents, full refund for the game and any microtransactions), and changing aspects of their Eula at the last minute when making this update about needing the PSN account months after the game's been out.
-Steam for letting this game onto the platform in countries that they know PSN isn't available to (if they don't have a system to separate countries in this manner they need one or they need to tell Sony to piss off about requiring PSN connection as a requirement for Steam games and they won't sell the game at all anywhere if Sony forces the issue) and not having some better system at checkout for telling people that the game requires a PSN account (such as a very noticeable popup at the moment of purpose saying something like "Note that this game requires/may require a PSN account to play. Before purchasing know you may need to make one and link to Steam in order to play this game)...it shouldn't be a small box on the side like some people have claimed is the only mention of this on Steam (I didn't buy the game as I'm not into shooters so never looked at the page myself though so not sure how prominent the box is).
Imo Sony should just give up the requirement if they have any brains as this will just be more ammunition to push people to blacklist Sony as a whole (censorship is already one good reason).
Also wasn't in the post I copy and pasted but I can get the reason PC players don't want PSN linked to the account (I don't mainly cause I prefer buying games physically...granted if Sony goes digital only I'll drop it...haven't bought PS5 anyway and any games I'm playing are PS4 games still releasing or those on Switch): first there's the obvious issue with Sony getting hacked quite a bit so there's that and then 2nd it risks their steam accounts getting banned too if I'm right if Sony bans them for something they say in the game even if it's just pointless banter between friends that're just making fun of each other out of fun and not malicious intent (as Playstation's mods don't seem to know the difference between trash talking out of fun and trash talking for actual malicious reasons...hell if you have a bunch of black friends calling each other the N word throughout the game will they ban them for being racist even if they're all the same race just cause the word gets flagged by thier likely automatic search algorithm for said word? That won't go down well if it happens as that's a lot of black gamers that would be banned for messing with each other as friends as they constantly use the word with each other even as a greeting).
If this news is true about backtracking though (probably is, I'm just saying if as I haven't looked at their social media site myself yet so until I do I'm not gonna take this video's statement that they did as absolute truth as there's too many click bait videos that say something similar and then what's actually said was something different...especially those political related (such as all of the videos saying Trump won in court while the case is ongoing or Fani Willis being jailed from shit she did in court when she's not (even if she should be))) than the only reason they're probably doing it is probably cause they did something that could lead to legal battles they don't want to battle with...granted maybe the boycott stuff did hurt Sony's bottom line is one way. As for lawsuits the likely ones would be any that come from countries where the game was sold but they can't get access to PSN, Sony could be sued for selling there knowing people in the country can't legally play the game...hell rather than a class action from buyers it's an issue that could lead to lawsuits from the government themselves as it likely breaks trade laws in them (at least if the countries were smart enough to make such laws even if it's for the sole purpose of suing foreign companies for money for the State for breaking the countries' laws). Regardless of if they're backtracking or not Sony's gonna lose a lot of good will from gamers for good for this move (well whatever good will they still have...they're already pissing me off a lot for censorship BS, raising PS+ prices when the economy is shit (main reason I canceled PS+ tbh), etc).

@@JuroJack I do hope they at least fire the community managers that acted like morons though...of all the issues with this fiasco that was the one part they had full control over and should've made sure to keep their community managers in line (especially since a few months ago said managers already said some dumb shit already...think it was related to censorship in Stellar Blade or some morons getting pissed when fans were celebrating that HD2 said they wouldn't censor the game in anyway and the woker community managers (granted maybe it was just Discord's non official Community manager but thought at least one ro two official ones made a stupid statement too) got pissy and trash talked the community in a very tone deaf manner (I'm not talking fun trash talk, which also exists and you usually see when friends say shit online mid game in a lot of shooters/sports games/etc...same with playing actual sports in real life/not video games too I guess and other non game activities with friends)).

Steam started issuing refunds left right and center, and Sony had to cave. Valve had our backs in this, kinda.
STEAM helped divers secure the W by offering refunds and delisting the game in 177 countries. A big win for democracy.

Far as i know ghosts still has the mandatory psn for online...if sony was truly sorry they would remove that too but i think sony will simply say nothing and launch it that way on the 16th anyway
I'm a playstation owner, and I have to agree with the PC community. I stopped playing the game since the controversy. Sony hasn't been the same great company since the PS2 era.

So, since Sony walked back the requirement, what now? Do we delete our reviews, leave them and keep playing, or just quit the game entirely? Ive largely been a solo gamer for a long time and never had an interesting game to play with my friends since battlefield 1, helldivers 2 finally gave me a good game to play with them but now i dont know if they will still keep playing.
As long as the requirement is still on the store page as well as having 170+ countries blocked i will not change my review, a comment on X means absolutely nothing as they are just words, when they change the store page tags and get our helldivers out of oblivion will actually be an action.. which speaks tons louder than words. Until thos actions happen, we bent the knee to sony for their win in damage control to fluff their numbers for their shareholders. Until thos actions happen all sony titles are blocked as well, and the next game is the same (ghosts of tsushima) psn account required.. At least there it is listed from the get go and not illegally after 3 months of service

All this tells me is don't buy or sub to any PC game that will also be published PlayStation done. This is similar to the Unity fiasco a few months back. Sony just broke my trust just like Unity broke the trust of game developers. Sorry I will be steering clear of Sony, anything Sony. How long before Sony starts requiring the same thing for their Smart TV's, Stereos and the rest of their consumer electronics too?

Post CDs, i have never, ever, learned about a game from some "publisher". PC no longer needs a "publisher". In post CDs online stores time, if you make a game for PC, what in the hell would you need a "publisher" for, other than you wanna get more money, milking the "publisher's" exclusive gated audience as well, at the cost of your thing no longer being yours? And i'm expected to have pity? Nah, 0. Just surrender your child completely and walk away, while you still have a name to save. Or let that "publisher's" fans have their exclusive games, and stay away in the first place. Because by the time that "publisher" "publishes" it real good, your name might be a new curse word. This "cross-platform" thing is obviously working very badly.

I play mostly on console because of physical games, i hate pay for digital games. The only games i play on pc are online multiplayer games cause first, physical edition make no sense with online games and second because online is free on pc. So this is exactly the type of games i will preffers to play on pc. Nice to know Sony actually fix this sh!tshow.

COD IS DEAD it's titles are in large DOA occasionally they get something right then the shoe drops and they break the mold for trash as players.
I haven't purchased every title but I know that it isn't worth purchasing another title or trying to continue to play the current title fram Activision nor Triarch.
