Hey @August Hunicke. You are the main actor, director, cinematographer, editor and, producer. Whatever camera view that makes you happy, we viewers are all in for what you are publishing.
August…as usual, nice job with your explanations…cinematics, as well as tree work. As far as which perspective is preferable, you know best. Quality tree work, and quality videos…..we are just along for the ride. Once again, thanks. 👍
Really appreciate hearing your thought processes and witnessing your great situational awareness. Measure twice, cut once, but you're measuring cause and effect and consequences. Good stuff. Also, I think most viewers would prefer the wider view. You have to remember that you are there with your own eyeballs, so you have a real world comparsion for how distorted the footage is. We don't have that reference so it's not all that significant for us, we just want the visual information, and superview gets us more. Cheers and thanks for sharing your work with us.
Thank you August. The combination of different angles is worthwhile. Damien made a great catch. Jeff was great in the ropes and Adam quietly gets the job done in the background.
I agree with Jeff, he's awesome! The superwide works well, the little bit of "fish-eye" effect doesn't hurt anything. And the addition of the ground cam was nice. Great work as always!
The next Day by the to fell the great old Oak. This is a great Straining Work. But is to See You have gladness on Your Job and the Work. Beside make You special Camera Pictures, and this all with the greatest Views. 💪👍 Greeting 🇦🇹
Really enjoyed this series. I’m in north Florida and we do a lot of large oak trees over houses and pool screen enclosures. I’m always learning new techniques from your videos. Also have purchased all your gear and just love it. Makes tree work much easier.
I had a visit with an old climber today. He started Tree Climbers International. He asked how old I was. I told him 45. He said you have 10 prime years. He also said at the end of the tunnel tree inspection is where it's at here in Atlanta. There isn't a lot of people that solely inspect trees. I am getting real sick of working for these big box store tree "services". I so miss the down to earth hanging out with your people getting it done. The opportunity for that may come today. Old school called. He is tired and wants his canopy and clients taken care of still. I am your man old school.🙂
This just makes me think of the comment someone left on Guilty of tresons RUclips . Where they said something like watching his videos made them realise how good August Hunicke is. Well no disrespect to Jacob i like his channel also. But watching this makes me realise how god you and you team are. Thanks for sharing 🤙🏻
August, you pick the angles and camera settings! You make the best tree videos out there - content choice and all. Glad you're looking for feedback, but there's a reason I don't video my stuff - bc when I look back at it, it's all underwhelming!🤔😁
I use superview maybe 98% of the time for the exact reason you explained. Yes, it does distort the edges a lot but, it gives a great view of the work area. Jeff is flexing hard running that rope. I think he may have done this a few times. 😉 Another video showing the MonkeyBeaver crew making hard work look easy. Keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤️🌲 Randy
Beautiful real skills Jeff ! And hey August the comments about people commenting in the beginning that was pretty funny. Tip jar I’ll wreck this loving the content.. Joe
I always climbed with a Camel pack on my back would fill it with Gatoraid and ice before I went up but its a hell of alot more humid here in Florida than it is there.
You don't appreciate the handling of those heavy pieces until you try to hand lift and carry a chunk of that green wood. Its evident, Jeff's a good judge of those weight characteristics and dynamics. No unwelcomed surprises except the missing pull cord on the electric saw. 😂
Perfect enough…👌. Another fine job by all👍. Got me to LOL a couple times🤣 Thanks. Stay Safe👋. 🙌🌲physics are everything in this world. You got it down August🛬
TIP: don't wear your socks out in the rain. lol Years ago a the son of a good friend of mine was a brand new waiter (his first day of his first job) at a small local restaurant. Well my soon-to-be wife and I happened to be maybe his second customers. Yup he was pretty nervous but did a good job. Anyway after the meal I wrote my above on the 'tip' on the placemat...hahaha. of course the real tip was just under the placemat. Later on he told me it made him laugh to himself and helped him relax for the rest of his shift. Sadly he inherited that same sense of humour from his dad that I did from mine. Cheers from New Brunswick, Canada...eh.
AUGUST, Hello, always nice to see a professional operate, the ONLY trees 15 of us took down , as BOY SCOUTS AT my boarding school,in JAMAICA BWI, those days 1954, were a tropical varietal called a TRUMPET TREE, there was an area with about 80 of them, also about 80 feet X 6-8” trunks, We had to use an AXE, , using basic geometry , show ,you KNEW were it was going to fall, so we only cut about 30 of them, only 1 guy did NOT get it correct, great exercise, , in how to do it ,, take care, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
LIVE seeing a specialist doing his job. Live seeing a team of specialists doing their job - if your ground man fails, it doesn't matter if you (August) do perfect and if you you fail, it doesn't matter how good the ground man is. You don't defy gravity, you work with it. 👍
Great teamwork. Requires everyone on point to climb, cut, rope correctly, drop in right spots without damaging anything, quick untying branches & cutting them up & out of the way, so the next branches can be dropped. A lot of work -- As you should; you guys making it look easy. No one is killing themselves. Just taking pride in their work & getting it done together.
you have excellent videos explaining how y what that's y ur a professional thank for all ur time going to give ur speed line kit a workout this weekend
what do you mean eat lunch on the ground I stay in the tree I never come down until it's finished LOL I'm sure some climbers thinking that hahaha but I'm not I come down and eat lunch and go back up God bless guys stay safe
I like the ground perspective and running the rigging should be done more as I feel that there is an art/feel to it..that only many reps and scenarios have been built with the same team and communication and equipment would allow to happen as smoothly....I would imagine much like having Adam run the crane changes the dynamic which is good for team moral and self worth but short term slows the fluidity of the work flow however when every one maxed out skill wise the thought process is almost automatic..everyone anticipates and knows ...Loved the explanation of the "Angle of the Dangle" August
I'm glad the tree legends 🙌you guys are, decided to show som more of te real pace and grind of a day of climbing, rigging and dragging everything through te small pain in the ass sideyard . Instead of some crazy 🦸view generating crane🏗 montage with music. Bc i started questioning myself as an owner/ climber.
That Wraptor ascender looks awesome, anything to give your knees and ankles a break in this industry is a welcome addition. Do you guys not use a GRCS? I think they are fantastic. Your ground guys are solid, you rarely see a group of guys at work that have the same sense of comradery as it appears your crew has.
Everything is brand new or a family heirloom. Working for the phone company. Years and years ago would have to do installs or repair to help that department out. Never moved furniture, even for the old ladies. If it broke we/the company would inevitably buy it and the Zody’s or Walmart pressed wood bed or dresser somehow morphed into a two hundred year old family heirloom passed from generation to generation brought over from the homeland and ended up in a rental unit in the ghetto.
To be fair, the comments are right, we could have that tree down in five minutes. We might even survive! And completely ignoring the catastrophic damage to house, fence, hot tub, etc.
Hey I remember you saying in video one of this series that the crane was just out of reach. 1 Do you ever rent a bigger crane from crane company’s and 2 if so why not rent a bigger crane on this tree?
Any of the views work. I do like when you have more than one camera glut so you can see the angles from the ground and in the tree. Excellent work in the tree and editing, as always. Have another question about cutting around 17:30 where the two limbs look to me to cut from the top with a single pass and let them swing, but one you face and the other you single cut. I’m curious what the difference was. I’d cut both single pass and I’m making asking to make sure I’m not missing a concern that I’m setting myself up for other issues. Seems faster single pass if you don’t need to provide direction to the piece.
Noticing the "upper round eye" on your "Porta-wrap". Do you have that / have you welded that on all of your Porta-wraps? Usually use the 'biner to do the 'keep it upright? Would you want a strap / ratchet to do the holding it upright. (Often I just mount a sailboat winch on a plate - like GRCS, only simpler. Wraps / tightening/running on bigger circumference can be good control...)
Mark- I would think wood thickness would ( a record three wuds in one sentence now 4,) determine battery drain.
