    Great documentary! It's also fascinating to see statues of wrathful Tantric deities in a style other than Tibetan/Himalayan. Long live the Dharma! It's needed especially badly in these crazy chaotic times.

      Raphael Carvalho Bezerra Yes Sir, I realise what you mean. It maybe a little difficult for you to be a buddhist in Brazil in South America, because it is not a country with a substantial buddhist population. But on the contrary, despite all obstacles, you will be able to follow the Buddhist path wherever you live in, if you have the proper determination. I think the environment you live in does not matter or hamper for a well determined person. I hope that you will succeeed in your upward journey.
      May you have all the strength and determination to follow the Buddhist path and achieve the noble state you expect!!

    This is fascinating. I've been a Therevada Buddhist for 25 years and most of the things presented in this video are completely foreign to me. Some of the things are contrary to Therevada Buddhist teaching. I realized that there are various paths of Buddhism but I didn't realize that some of the paths have very different teachings.

    • @Q_QQ_Q

      Yes. It's Mahayana Buddhism . Japan has many sects .

    • @janath9118
      @janath9118 Год назад

      Markus Hayden Sutherland Yes, you are right. Some of the beliefs here are quite contrary to Theravada Buddhist teachings. I too am a Theravada buddhist since birth, living here in South Asia. Only the Theravada Buddhism has the pure and correct teachings of Lord Buddha. The description of this video is based on the beliefs of Mahayana buddhism which was founded later on by renegade monks after the passing away (Mahaparinirvana) of Lord Buddha.

    • @janath9118
      @janath9118 Год назад +1

      Markus Hayden Sutherland Yes, the Mahayana buddhism believe in a complete different path to achieve. As the aim or expectation of the Theravada buddhists is to achieve Nirvana which is the final ultimate goal, the mahayana buddhists expect all of them to be Buddhas themselves! They think that being a Buddha is a simple task which is drastically wrong. While the Theravada Buddhism teaches us the shortest possible path to reach for Nirvana as preached by Lord buddha, the Mahayana buddhist has chosen the longest possible path to reach Nirvana by expecting to be Buddhas themselves. Maybe that is what they choose, but the funny thing here is that they hope to achieve Buddhahood simply during one or two lives' time.

    • @janath9118
      @janath9118 Год назад +1

      @Ching Vang Yes, Mahayana buddhism is confusing. I see that you have decided to follow Theravada Buddhism. I can say that you are very wise to choose it.
      Sakyamuni Buddha explained us vividly what and where the sufferings (dhukka) are and that the humans' hope must be to end those sufferings. In order to do that we have got to eliminate all kinds of desires in our minds. Once it is done, we are free of all sufferings and we can reach the supreme bliss of Nirvana. Following the teachings of Sakyamuni Buddha according to the pure Theravada Buddhist doctrine will lead you to achieve Nirvana without taking that long path to be Enlightened and be a Buddha yourself. This is considered as the shortest possible path to end sufferings and achieve Nirvana.
      Thank you very much for replying me!
      May you be well! May all beings be well!

    In a country where everything is usually so tidy, why are so many of these statues covered in grime from incense and candle smoke and dust? Is it so sacred that Buddha's symbol of him cannot be cleaned?

      The Nazis stole it from India. They turned it diagonally as well. It’s a Sanskrit symbol which represents spiritual purity, but Hitler stole it and used it for racial purity. Because he believed the “white race” descended from “Aryans” who were from Iran, and definitely not “white.”

    • @tampazeke4587
      @tampazeke4587 2 года назад

      Then you need to educate yourself. The swastika was not invented by Nazis. It existed thousands and thousands of years before the 20th Century and was always a symbol of peace, purity, balance and enlightenment. It would be like fearing a star because it was a symbol of Stalinist Communism.
