Looks like it could be a contender in the back to basics "vanilla" commercial HT category, although the switching channel groups might cause a few issues depending on the end user segment... thanks for the review.
Thanks for unlocking the mystery of how to switch between channel banks, which the user manual (if you can even call it that) glosses over in Chinglish. Also, I don't think it was even mentioned that pressing and holding the two buttons below the PTT switch will cause the lady's voice to annotate the current Receive/Transmit frequencies.
congratulations!! Someone who can pronounce 'Baofeng' (bow (as in to the master) and feng as in mung (bean that is ) Your review is concise and informative...for a pom : ) Cheers from UStralia
Try reading from the radio first then edit the information from the radio. Save a copy on your PC then try writing it back to the radio. It worked for me like that.
How do you get the UV-6 to scan? If I push the monitor and function buttons as described in the "manual", the radio merely announces which frequency it's on.
have you tried to program both of these radios above 470 MHz? i know they say it only goes up to 470 MHz but the UV-B5 also says it only goes up to 470 but ive seen them up to 480 MHz i would like to buy both of these radios but only if they can go up to 477 MHz as this is the legal frequencies in New Zealand would you be able to try them for me please?

There's a good video explaining how to "fix" the programming problem with this radio. How to fix the comm error in the programming software, on a Baofeng, Wouxun or other Chinese - AF5DN
What software do you use to program the UV-6? I just bought one but couldn`t use the CHIRP software to program it, it only recognized the UV-5 , and the original software that came with my Baofeng cable did the same. Thanks.
I used the UV-6/7 software from Baofeng's website. It works. However, Make sure you have downloaded the driver and connect the radio to the PC and switch on before you open the software.
The 888S programs with relative ease. The UV-6 will not program with a 64 bit computer. It is a known glitch and Baofeng will not fix it. God damn Baofeng for this!
Hi.. I caant get my radio to comunicate with my computer. I have several Baofeng radios that i can program just fine, but not this one. Do i have to press any buttons when i connect it to my pc? I'm using the orginal software, and the USB cable works well on my other radios.
how do I switch to new frequencies I programmed into UV6? I see that you turned off the radio, held the middle button, then turned radio on. In you video this took you to the original 1-16 channels programmed from factory. HOW DO I ACCESS MY BANK above channel 16?? thanks in advance
+D. A. Bozung If you want to change banks you choose the bank by the channel knob. If you wanted channel 20 in bank 2, turn the radio off, turn the channel selector knob to 2, then hold the middle button while powering on. Same process to enter the other channel banks.
No AA battery case yet or at least I haven't seen them yet. The range is the same as any other 5 watt baofeng radios and you can watch the range test in my other videos.
+xXIndianPlaysGamingxX Don't think anybody tod you - They have a set of pre-programed frequencies that match - Meaning you can turn em on to Channel one fro example and talk. The frequencies may be restricted in your country, but in the wild, who's gonna know as they will only reach 3-5 KM or 2-3 miles
Los canales del 888s son compatibles con los del UV-6? Ósea no hay necesidad de programarlos o de fábrica traen la misma programación para enlazar los dos
I just got mine UV-6, wanted to programm it, but ran into same problems as another user here (horetiss) I can't read from the radio. I have tried with 2 different software versions, different usb ports, different computers etc. ... nothing :( Any ideas, is there a procedure to get it working? TNX!
I used miklor.com for programming and it worked fine for me. I have been using the driver from his site and factory software. So far so good. Please make sure you follow the instructions on installing the driver for USB first.
It seems that i have found the solution to my "programing" problem. The 2-pin, kenwood type connector on my usb cable, better said the housing of the connector was too big for the narrow, and deep port on the radio and it didn't go all the way in. After I trimmed a lot of the plastic housing around the connector and solved the problem! My uv6 is working now and seems to be a great radio!
anyone knows ,,, who sells programme cables for these radios , i got on of ebay but the pin on the cable is about 1mm smaller than the hole on the radio. it works fine with the uv5r but dosent make the connection on the uv6 , can anyone help cheers
Jojo Obtera You will need to check with the regulating body what is allowed for your country. In the UK you will need to apply to Ofcom for business licence if it's for business use and Amateur licence if it's for ham radio use. Because these radios have high transmission power they must be used under licence.
for a reasonable price that is, i want a dual band radio with no front programmable buttons and this costs more than a uv-5r for a single unit these days
The frequencies vary depends on batches but the last one was some random frequencies with CTCSS or DCS in the first 3 memory banks. If you want a copy I can email the file to you.
bald survivor comms ct1543 How did you get you UV-6 to communicate with Chirp software? I've tried everything but can't get it to work, only works with the Baofeng UV6/UV7 software and ONLY Com Port 4
you need to install the correct drivers for the lead to work, then sort the prolific com port which can be found in the divice manger. thats all i did.

Ah very nice . Il be ordering one of those. Thanks for the video
+Darren Hoey er 2 would be better
Thanks for your review. Tell me how to enable scanning? Thank you.
The Baofeng UV6 is cleared for use in the United States (FFC #)
But what about Canada? Why has Industry Canada not recognized this model?

The 888 has crappy low audio on transmit. Wish you would have compared tx audio of both units. I would not buy another 888 for that reason...
I have a 888$ problem chanl 15 is stuck on continous annoying tone '? Chnl 16 also want transmit when ptt it just makes tone also when pressed
The 888 (all versions ) is not as tough as the UV 82 - for only a few bucks more

Thanks!
do you plan to get a AA or AAA battery case available for this radio?

What baofeng handheld would you recommend with the criteria of durability ease of use, range and aftermarket parts. Thanks m8
UV5RC is your best choice.
thank you, and good videos
I can not hear (no sound but the green led is on) when someone on the same channel is talking to me when the opposite is possible. What could i do ?
Two questions:
- is the an AA battery adapter in existence for this radio?
- what is its maximum range in ideal conditions?
No AA battery case yet or at least I haven't seen them yet.
The range is the same as any other 5 watt baofeng radios and you can watch the range test in my other videos.
Please note that FM Radio shall be enabled via software, otherwise doesnt' work.
I have a question... Say I buy 2 of these for hunting purposes... Do I need to program them? Or is it a turn on and use?

Hunting? I hope they fail.
Is the antenna detachable and changeable?
what is the speciality of bf 888?i have already ordered one for my home use

I need schematic diagramm for baofeng uv-6. Can you help me?
i brought 3 Baofeng uv6 still need to program those or no need? thx
Jojo Obtera I'm afraid you'll have to programme them as the factory frequencies are all over the bands i.e. not legal.
what is the output power for vhf and uhf?
Can it be programed by hand, or does it need a computer?
No unfortunately you have to programme it through a computer.
Ok.
anyone knows ,,, who sells programme cables for these radios , i got on of ebay but the pin on the cable is about 1mm smaller than the hole on the radio. it works fine with the uv5r but dosent make the connection on the uv6 , can anyone help cheers

+SNS8R03 UV6 is a totally different radio compare to the 777 and 888.
these are impossible to find in the us now

Completely different battery and charger. Nicer IMO.
What are the default frequencies?
The frequencies vary depends on batches but the last one was some random frequencies with CTCSS or DCS in the first 3 memory banks. If you want a copy I can email the file to you.
