Excellent video! Also day trading weekly options requires stocks that have good liquidity and tight bid-ask spreads so that you can get in and out of your trades easily. I always look for stocks that have good options volume.
I have a few questions: 1. How many of the companies do you still trade actively? All still good? 2. Usually when I look for a monthly option, I buy with an Open Interest of 50 or more. Would that be any different when trading weekly options? 3. What premium price do you use to make sure you get filled? Especially when it is time to cut loss? Also, I saw AAPL went crazy bear yesterday. Did you kill? ;)

A really good video. I am a beginner futures trader and I want to start trading stocks. Due to the need for capital to trade stocks, I'm looking for the options market. In a webinar that I have attende for swing trading with options, the mentor say that "for directional moves, you should buy call or put ITM options with a Delta of 0.7 or the most near of 0.7". I want to know how to select the right option contract if I am trading the stock in intraday. I mean, I know the intraday patterns and when I see a signal that say to me "is moment for longs in the stock", how can I select the appropriate weekly option? How do I take profit from a call that's rocketing up before an expiration date? If I have 10 calls that are 10% ITM and I want to sell 5, Do I sell the 5 at Market or Limit?
EIHTER ONE. I usually sell a limit order. :-) Market exit, you might lose soma of the spread, but you'll guarantee exit. A limit order locks in the trade ONLY if the price hits that level. :)
So is the stop executes based on the stock price or the option price? Is there a way to place a stop on an option based on the stock price? I don’t see how this is possible since the Greeks fluctuate. Or perhaps I’m misunderstanding the stop explanation.
Yep. It would still apply. If you have an option worth .25 and your stop is .00 and your R = $100.... $100 / .25 = 400 , which would be 4 contracts. :)
I have a put option that expires this Friday. The option is selling at 3 cents, and my account won't let me sell to close in less than 5 cent increments. I am worried about getting assigned. (I don't know what's going to happen.) But if I do get assigned to buy the underlying shares, my strike price is $2, and the shares are selling at $2.40. Couldn't I turn around and sell the shares and make my money back?
HI JUDY! Thanks for the message. So, you are in a put or call? I'm assuming it's a put, because if it was a call, it would / should be worth at least .40. #1 If you are in a put, you will not get assigned to sell that stock closes BELOW $2.00. IF the stock stays above $2.00, the option will expire worthless, going to options heaven and you literally have to do absolutely nothing.

Let’s say I just find the lowest premium at $10 per contract (extremely bullish call), and a stock like GOOG goes up $10. That would essentially bring me up. $100.00. Why wouldn’t everyone do this? I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to do this if the risk/reward ratio is in your favor for a stock that is continuously uptrending. Am I understanding this correctly? 😞
Don Michael Hebron Well, you can easily find options on .10 for googl. (Aka $10 per contract. And sometimes (especially on Fridays) they do go ITM and become more valuable. - but , many times they don’t. However, if you lose less than you win - that’s all that matters. You can get options on SPY for .25 and under all the time , that increase nicely. Just gotta pick correctly ... call or put? Or both. And I assure you ..... many things are easy, yet people do not do them. Like being kind. Or working out often, eating right, saving money and so forth. What’s right is easy to do! But it’s even easier - not to do them.. :)
Still having trouble finding a demo platform i can trade on. Totally new. Are you saying to press the "call" button at the bottom of the climb. Then press "put" at the top? or at the bottom of the decline?

But couldn’t you still sell while the stock is still climbing. If it rises above the price you bought it out aren’t you still making a profit? But I get your point you want to sell before it declines too much so you are making a profit
estabutta It’s more art that science for sure! ;) At some point it’s as simple as - knowing your risk and planning your trades in advance and following those plans. Puts GO UP when the stock goes down. And you can buy and sell them anytime you wish before expiration. Pop into my channel and watch my beginners classes! You’ll love em!!

You didnt mention buy Low Volatility Options when day trading so even if stock doesnt go in your direction, you wont lose money fast. Also when you buy gap up stocks, the volatility surges which isnt good for buying but good for Sellers

Interesting comment about opening a prop account. I've never found a prop firm that allows anyone to open an account. Let me know if you have some in mind. I do however also DT weekly options and I totally agree with knowing how to trade first for the newbies. For me simply reading the tape and price action of the underlying helps me front run these reversal levels to pick up some amazing % gainers in these things.
bob dole Not 100% sure what you mean bob. My guess: Option calculation is the same. If your R is $100 and you buy an option at $1.00 and set your stop at .50 100/.50 = 200 which would be 2 contracts

this was a great video, I am a construction worker love love my job, but I got very sick and not able to work.I always wanted trade the markets and I am thinking now is the time to take a plunge,I have been paper trading for over a year,and looking at you tube videos books ,DVDs,and think you are very experienced and through with your explanation for all I have seen. I was thinking about day trading stocks, but you convince my to day trade options instead,lol. One thing for sure- dude you don't understand how options work you are definitely mis- leading the crowd. For example: the underlying has a delta of 100 always. So if you wanna buy options with the equivalent of 100 and they are at the money with Deltas of 50 , you have to buy 2 contracts(100:50= 2). Live long and prosper!
VIVALDI INCO You might want to rewatch the video. I’m not referring to delta. I am focusing on RISK. If someone wants to risk $100 (as in that’s how much money they lose if they are wrong) and the current ask is 1.00 and they place their stop at .5 = they can buy 2 contracts. If they place their stop at 0.00 [absolute zero play] they can buy 1 contract. Just simple math

Can easily day trade options if you know price action IMO... HAVE to know that premiums have more than just price built in. Dollar cost average people... dont... if it goes your way, sweet and pay yourself along the way. If it goes against you, GTFO! Great content here!

Guandong Mai If trading options - no. You can actually day trade options in your account until your cash runs out. Then you have to stop. It's the cash balance that you trade options with and it can be less than $25,000 (at least in most US brokers). Make sure to ask your broker specifically. : )
+Guandong Mai No. If you have more than 25k in a cash account you can trade as much as you want. AND with options, you can trade until your option buying power is gone each day. I hope this helps!

You are absolutely correct. So, either SELL those options.... (sell to open) and take advantage of that OR just don't trade them at all. :)

how do you set the proper stop loss on options using the R reward calculation, being that options are sold are contracts sold as premiums ?

One thing for sure- dude you don't understand how options work you are definitely mis- leading the crowd. For example: the underlying has a delta of 100 always. So if you wanna buy options with the equivalent of 100 and they are at the money with Deltas of 50 , you have to buy 2 contracts(100:50= 2). Live long and prosper!
VIVALDI INCO You might want to rewatch the video. I’m not referring to delta. I am focusing on RISK. If someone wants to risk $100 (as in that’s how much money they lose if they are wrong) and the current ask is 1.00 and they place their stop at .5 = they can buy 2 contracts. If they place their stop at 0.00 [absolute zero play] they can buy 1 contract. Just simple math

Can easily day trade options if you know price action IMO... HAVE to know that premiums have more than just price built in. Dollar cost average people... dont... if it goes your way, sweet and pay yourself along the way. If it goes against you, GTFO! Great content here!

Guandong Mai If trading options - no. You can actually day trade options in your account until your cash runs out. Then you have to stop. It's the cash balance that you trade options with and it can be less than $25,000 (at least in most US brokers). Make sure to ask your broker specifically. : )
+Guandong Mai No. If you have more than 25k in a cash account you can trade as much as you want. AND with options, you can trade until your option buying power is gone each day. I hope this helps!
