Anita Baker is in her own lane, not a bad song on the entire album (or any of her albums). So many hits, and she wrote and produced many of her own songs. This was a remake of Dionne Warwick singing first, but AB made it her own
Great reaction! Anita Baker is gifted with one of the smoothest, most sultry voices in R&B. The 80s and 90s were great decades for R&B, I'm so glad you're getting in touch with these great musicians!
Thanks for the reaction Empress! That entire album is just perfection really. When Anita gets to throwin' it on at the end it just sends me flying. I will never steer you wrong with my picks! I promise.
Another fun reaction Empress! Anita’s voice is one of a kind and I used to love this whole album back in the day! Another random memory I have is seeing an Ebony magazine at my grandmothers house that had pictures of Anita, Whitney and Janet all on the cover with the headline “Who Was The Greatest?” Of course they are all equally great! ☺️

🔥🔥When this album came out, everyone had her haircut and sang her songs in EVERY talent show! 🤣 My son's grandmother had that darn haircut. It drive me crazy. Dudes always sicing it up. "Baby, you look like Anita Baker!" 🤣🤣
🤣😂 Damned truth! I moved from Toledo (Anita’s hometown) to Miami in the late 80’s… I worked for an airline back then and one of my bosses had that haircut, so I had to tell her how she reminded me of Anita… brownie points! 😅
Just came across your channel… I first heard Anita (and definitely bought the album) while living in Toledo Ohio, her hometown, in the 80’s… the album such perfection! Again, back when talent, vocals, artistry were REQUIRED - no choreography necessary, nor was auto tune! Been attempting to scan through all your vids and am really looking forward to watching so many - such a great, diverse, and eclectic mix of artists and media reactions… 👍🏼
She got a little bit lost in Whitneys shadow in the 80s but she was amazing!!!!! You Bring Me Joy is my personal favorite and you have to give it a listen

Wow thank you‼️I hope you sub😊
Anita is the High Priestess of Soul, Rhythm & Blues and only both Toni B and Lisa F come joint close second
She got a little bit lost in Whitneys shadow in the 80s but she was amazing!!!!!
You Bring Me Joy is my personal favorite and you have to give it a listen
interesting!!
I had every single Anita Baker album. I listened to them till they broke. She is a music Goddess!
I remember riding in my parents car at night to songs like this playing, it was so relaxing
Rapture is one of my favourite albums from the 80’s
Anita Baker the greatest ❤

Great review, Empress! Worth noting: Dionne Warwick has a lovely recording of "No One In The World". Different. But good.

Oh wow! I'd love to hear it
MYSTERY gotta hear it Recollection
Gotta listen to the love version from “a night of rapture” special omg blows away!!!
Noted!
Kinda random but I was obsessed with this album in high school
😂wow, this seems like such a mature song/album for a high schooler you had to be deep in your feels
I think I had to buy three records of this LP because I just wore the hell out of it man
Wow
The video is cool too it's directed by Spike Lee
Oh wow
Anita Baker has a unique voice. The only one that I think sounds like her at times is Toni Braxton.
I played this album (Rapture) to death in 1986. Quality in every track
Same here. Vinyl was worn out so bad that I got another copy as a CD lol
What's the purpose of those "talons" ?🧐
First time I heard this song.was when it came out. I had a music orgasm!
😂😂believable
