Great reaction! Anita Baker is gifted with one of the smoothest, most sultry voices in R&B. The 80s and 90s were great decades for R&B, I'm so glad you're getting in touch with these great musicians!
Another fun reaction Empress! Anita’s voice is one of a kind and I used to love this whole album back in the day! Another random memory I have is seeing an Ebony magazine at my grandmothers house that had pictures of Anita, Whitney and Janet all on the cover with the headline “Who Was The Greatest?” Of course they are all equally great! ☺️

Anita Baker is in her own lane, not a bad song on the entire album (or any of her albums). So many hits, and she wrote and produced many of her own songs. This was a remake of Dionne Warwick singing first, but AB made it her own
🔥🔥When this album came out, everyone had her haircut and sang her songs in EVERY talent show! 🤣 My son's grandmother had that darn haircut. It drive me crazy. Dudes always sicing it up. "Baby, you look like Anita Baker!" 🤣🤣

🤣😂 Damned truth! I moved from Toledo (Anita’s hometown) to Miami in the late 80’s… I worked for an airline back then and one of my bosses had that haircut, so I had to tell her how she reminded me of Anita… brownie points! 😅

Just came across your channel… I first heard Anita (and definitely bought the album) while living in Toledo Ohio, her hometown, in the 80’s… the album such perfection! Again, back when talent, vocals, artistry were REQUIRED - no choreography necessary, nor was auto tune!

Anita Baker has a unique voice. The only one that I think sounds like her at times is Toni Braxton.
