Damn, almost 25,000 subs. I remember when you didn't even have a hundred. Actually liked her quirky personality it's a shame she bailed out when your channel was starting to gain ground. Regardless, moving on is what sailing is all about and what makes for a good channel. Where you're going and what it took to get there. Looking forward to seeing how you fix the boat whether it's the right way or the wrong way at the end of the day it's your way. Tip of the ole captains hat and wishes for fair winds to you.
How am I just now finding this channel !?! I went to the beginning and started watching... Needless to say I haven't gotten any work done today! Lol OMG this is awesome. I'm just an ol Kentucky Hill Billy, I've been looking at boats and wanting to do this same thing. I imagine my adventure will be very similar to what I've seen here so far. You guys are great! Don't let the na sayers and negative ppl get you down. Real life, real adventure begins when you just do what dream. You guys are definitely living life! I'm subscribed and a fan for life!
Glad to see you made it to Florida "officially" No matter what people say, the money you spent was worth the adventure and for all those who say you could have bought a monohull sailboat for less, obviously don't understand "your" adventure and the shallow draft of your cat. Can't wait to see your future adventures.
I remember being on board when you first bought the cat and the detractors said 'you got ripped off and ya all gonna drown'. But everyone else said 'can't wait to follow your adventures'. I'm obviously in the latter category.
@@9to5less Ok man I freely admit that I think you got seriously ripped off and in a big way. I am not downing you, but what you got for what you gave yeah you did. The are sites that have sail boats in the water for sale for less then 1 grand. As far as the rest of it goes you had or got the safety equipment and seem to have enjoyed your adventure. I never questioned that part of it, you just way over paid for that boat shell.
"And y'all thought we were the hazard!" Is the funniest thing I've heard you say. Don't listen to the nay sayers, most of them including myself wish they had the balls to do what you've done. Win or lose, you are out there doing it.
Glad to see you made it man... been here since close to the beginning... and now almost 25,000 subs... that has to feel great.. keep us posted man.. best wishes
Well done, you made it!, proved a lot of naysayers wrong. It's an eerie feeling when you are right on the edge of a channel and you feel your keel bump over rocks (luckily the keel is a steel one).
Hey Berty!!! It felt so good to cross that imaginary line I can't even explain! Glad you have a steel keel! That's gotta be nuts. I'm so glad I didn't hit any rocks. It was a huge fear of mine when the tide was really low.
Hey!!!! I can't believe it's been a whole pandemic since then. Time just flies. I hope you are well. I thought about the dragon this past New Year's Eve. Did it get rained out this year?
@@9to5less YES the dragon went mobile ! The show must go on !, To avoid crowding they loaded both dragons on to large trailers and they were towed around a route that covered the whole town. So everyone still got to see the dragon safely it was brilliant! Few videos on the towndock.net site - And even in the light rain they pushed on ! So cool 🐲
@@9to5less I don't doubt that many run aground in that area. I found that whole stretch to Sister's Creek to have quite few spots in the channel where I had to find the deeper water. When I head back North, I think I'm going to take the outside route and ride the Gulf Stream just to avoid shallow water.
@@unclebob6728 Actually, 3 kinds of boaters. The first two you mentioned and the third type. Those who lie about running aground. I'm not afraid to admit that I have run aground twice and hope to not do it again anytime soon.
Cool, grew up there 50's to 68when I was drafted. Lived on Jackson St. Spent countless days on the Indian River. The marina is easy bigger than my youth. You have family there? Should be a great place to get the boat in shape, then head for the Key's.

“And you guys thought we were the hazard!” Classic. You proved everyone wrong. Congrats making it to Florida. A testament to that Mercury outboard!

Hey John! I know it's crazy! It grew really fast! Thanks for the support and kind words. I have some big plans for the boat!
Love the show of you don't gotta have the most expensive or fanciest boat or anything like that to go do stuff like this.
At 14:00 that's where they de-magnetize submarines from Kings Bay Naval Base.
That odd structure you passed at the submarine base is a magnetic degaussing system.
Oh that’s so cool!! I knew somebody smart would watch this episode! Thanks for letting me know!

This trip has been going on for over a year.. lol... But, you're getting there!
Really nice Marina and town. You need to just go to gas docks and fill up! Lol
Hahaha. That would be way too easy though. Lol. It was nice to get some exercise and walk around. Also saved about $20-$30 as marina gas is expensive.

You know the unwritten rule is to render assistance whenever possible. The other half of which is the help you get when needed.
That area of Fernandina Beach is very shallow. I went thru there myself and had inches of water under the keel a lot of the time.
