i'm glad they did the foot prints and didn't rebuild the towers. I'm a native new yorker and people need to understand that where those towers fell, over 2000 people died. Ground Zero should be respected like a cemetery, the final resting place for over 1000 people who were never buried properly because no remains could be found.
rebuilding the two towers, taller is vain at best. we should never forget what happened on 9/11 and rebuilding them feels like pretending it never happened.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were rebuilt after being nuked.

There are mainly less floors because the ceilings are higher than the 1970s low ceilings of the original WTC 1, and there’s more space above the ceilings.
The new WTC 1 is *NOT* larger than the old tower. The new tower has the same footprint and is the same height as the old one, but because of the taper, the floors progressively get smaller as you go up. The old WTC 1 had the same size floors all the way up.
*It's such a shame, less floors, a lot of mechanical floors, less occupation, and it's not two towers, let alone the same area of the originals, which were the most famous and iconic towers in the world*

I wish they didn't just build one new World Trade Center. They should've built a second identical tower next to the new one. The new complex is all fucked. It looks nice but it was a shitty idea from the start. We should've rebuilt the Twin towers except in a modern style or using the same design as the new Tower 1.

If they rebuild the same towers, many of the victims wouldn’t allow it. They only build it this way because the victims wanted what would they build the second tower a memorial space. Which I think it’s just bs. You can have the same structure and have a space for the memorial (ie the building 7 space). But it is what it is. I would like for there to have been a memorial for the jumpers. But I’m not sure if one exists since the government never acknowledged them. So idk

How are so many people saying they wish the towers were just rebuilt the same way? Do you know how traumatic that would have been? To look at the new towers every day and picture nothing but jetliners crashing into them? Also some things just can't be replaced. The Twin Towers were original, the 2,606 people that died in/from the towers were original. Rebuilding two towers just the same would have taken meaning away from that painful day. At least the new tower shows that we can not only stand tall as Americans and rebuild but that we can respect the tragedy of 9/11 enough to not be insensitive and to just duplicate two symbols.

Mac Martin ok, what’re your sources? Because I looked it up and I can’t find anything about clean up crews or bombs. Also thermite can’t burn through steel beams so there’s no way that was used. Besides, you’d need a severely large amount of it if it could in order to bring down two sky scrapers.
Mac Martin yeah I do, they flew into the towers and messed up the structural support of the upper floors. After almost an hour of uncontrolled fire, the steel beams on the floors around the impact were basically softened to the point of buckling and breaking. The upper floors then began to free fall, adding more falling mass as they fell through the lower floors. Of course you won’t accept that because every big thing that happens has to be a government conspiracy.

Still upset they did not rebuild the same towers newer, stronger, taller. But keep the same design and footprint. I felt our delay and result showed our weakness as it took close to 15 years to complete what could have been done much sooner and to replace what was and loved, only by a ugly new single tower.

One WTC is basically the 2 towers merged into 1. The way the base twists as it rises is a subtle nod to the 2 buildings that were once there. Viewing it from above you would see the outline of 2 squares. Also the 'official' height is 1776 ft but the actual top of the building is the exact height of the old Twin Towers. The only reason it has less floors is because the floor to ceiling height is taller in the new building
Not to mention viewing the plot of land from above has the outlines of all 3 buildings in a neat diagonal line which I personally think is cool

I saw another documentary about 9/11 called 'The Falling Man', it got across just how gruesome 9/11 was.

They should have rebuilt the towers exactly the way they were. That hole in the ground is not a cemetery and it is not sacred. All forms of the buildings as well as life and death were cleaned away. Honor the victims, yes, but with a message to the world that freedom will stand tall. More than 100 stories tall.

He was awarded $4.7 billion in insurance payout. The WTC complex is estimated to cost Silverstein Properties $10 billion to rebuild. Along with the $120 million/yr he was still required to pay the Port Authority on the leases he won for properties he was unable to rent.

The smoking gun, in reality is that all the buildings were destroyed. Then entire complex was demolished. And all buildings had to be unsalvageable to tear it all down, collect the total insurance property value (policy), and rebuild an entirely new WTC complex. If I remember, Silverstein Properties paid only a $15 Million dollar down payment on a 99 year lease of a $Multi-Billion dollar complex.

If I had lost a family member, a dear friend, or a work colleague in this terrible Saudi Arabian led terrorist attack,( in the name of Islam), If I was the President of the USA, I would not have targeted Libya, or Afghanistan for retribution,I would have gone for the Country who supplied the terrorists, So why then, Do the United States continue to trade with a country ultimately responsible for the worst terrorist outrage ever ?. This is a betrayal of all those victims of this atrocity.Its as bad as it looks , Those victims need closure, And they can never get that while their own Country continue to trade with a Country, who even today, promote their extreme form of Islam, Wahabism, and fund extremist Islamic groups.across the globe.
