Adam Gilchrist my all-time favorite. He had the tough task of opening the batting for Australia. He had the ability to turn test matches from tricky situations. Dhoni also great!!! But my vote is for Gilchrist.

Adam Gilchrist revolutionized the role of a wicket keeper- batsman and thereafter MSD, Joss Butler, Brad Haddin, Md. Rizwan all have and still following his footsteps. He was a no. 7 in tests and opener in limited over cricket. His opening pair with Mathew Hayden was one of the finest in ODIs. Kept wicket to the greatest spinner of all time and some of the most efficient seam bowlers. Performed with brilliance in 3 consecutive world cups, especially in the finals. All cricket experts unanimously accept him as the greatest wicket keeper- batsman of all time.
As for Dhoni no doubt he is the greatest wicket keeper - batsman India has ever produced. His finesse in stumping is second to none. As a finisher and as a captain he has achieved what many dare to dream about.
But if the overall performance , influence and opinions of the veterans are taken into account, Gilchrist is clearly ahead of any of his contemporaries.
BOTH ARE THE BEST WK OF HIS OWN ERA.
