i learned it by jolly co op mishaps LOL friend wanted me to tame a lizard with her body at the bottom of the outskirts shelter pole pit and that pink is DECEASED
another tip for spear master since you can make infinite spears getting the chieftain passage is a breeze so anytime you see a scavenger don't hesitate to approach them with gifts
If you get stunned as Saint you will be unable to control your character and wiggling on the floor for quite some time, and in the rest of the cycle you will occasionally fall over again similar to when starved, so be careful. One of the most useful gourmand crafting chains is batnip+rock = cherry bomb, cherry bomb + rock = grenade, grenade + karma flower = sticky bomb, sticky bomb + grenade = nuke
@@Sepi-chu_loves_moths tho saint can kill baby centipedes just like any other slugcat by just biting them when hungry xD Also, saint can't kill baby noot with their hands
all cats can eat underwater if im not incorrect, i did so as arti the other day. eating is possible whenever the slugcat is static, so hanging still off of a grappling worm, hanging from a pole, etc are all options. eating on the waters surface is difficult because most water in rain world has waves (even if some are difficult to see) so that up and down motion interrupts eating
@@ClariseTG idk, i tried as other slugcats, but only riv could do that. Tho you can eat CORPSES underwater and even moving. but not fruits and other stuff and i mean underwater, where there no air at all like fully submerged rooms in submerged superstructure
One tip that applies to pretty much every scug is that if you have the time, you can and absolutely should take some extra food into a shelter for the next cycle. It saves a lot of time which can be super important (especially playing as rivulet.) You can also store dry bubblefruit in your stomach if you need both hands!
also riv can ploink if you can get the inputs right! (hold down and spam jump while just above water) Though it is a more difficult move so it probably wouldn’t be used much lol
Another few gourmand tips, from gourm's #1 fan (Probably) - If you're trying to do the slam attack on creatures, but you find yourself sorta just harmlessly handing on them or missing by what seems like a pixel, try holding down as you fall. I don't know if this is intentional, or just some weird bug, but from my tests, this makes the slam hitbox MUCH more consistent and easy to connect - It's really easy to befriend scavs and pass their tolls as Gourmand, thanks to his ability to easily craft pearls. All you need is to combine a cherry bomb with a rock to make a grenade, then combine that with another rock, and bam-- easy pearl. - The roll mentioned in the video is very useful, but Gourmand's slide has all the same properties! The slide can be followed by a roll for e x t r e m e mobility, or used for combat in situations where you don't have the height or space to build up momentum for a roll - Combine a grenade with a karma flower, then combine what you get with a second grenade or karma flower. Have fun with the result!
@ClariseTG I didn't either for the longest time! But when I looked up info on Gourm's slam attack I saw someone said to do that, tested it a few times in sandbox, and noticed it does indeed work. Super glad I found that out eventually though, because clipping through enemies with the slam was getting even more annoying than exhaustion lmao
gourmand's slide is super good, yeah. honestly, i much prefer gourmand as a combat character over spearmaster. my mates say gourmand struggles in group fights but i've found groups to be easy enough to take on as long as there's pipes in the area. gourmand being able to shoot forward like a rocket and break a lizard's guard then one shot with a spear makes groups of lizards easy to take down as long as you can find the time to recover after each takedown. it's satisfying as heck to pull off, too.
@@big__shell I may be 5 months late but groups (particularly of lizards that aren't orange or red) are much easier to deal with as Gourmand because you do NOT perish when they bite you EVER unless it's a red lizard
@@c_8004 yeah, since lizards are prone to fighting gourmand's thick skin does come in handy. in my experience though gourmand is enough of a brute to where as long as something's on the ground it's going to be dead very soon. whites and blues are a bit of a bother though
another tip for saint! when the cycle ends and the strong blizzard starts, it's still possible to survive! go into a confirmed inside room (like the remnants of five pebbles) and hold two lanterns out (i recomend keeping one in your stomach and one in your paw for easy transport) and you won't freeze! i used this to survive a little longer so i could eat some popcorn to hibernate :)
while its true you’ll survive muuch longer, saint always eventually dies at the end of the cycle, regardless if you have 700 lanterns or none :( i think its about 15 minutes into the blizzard where you’ll be confirmed dead
They DID clarify that they only did this to get enough food to hibernate^^ Even if it doesn’t make you completely immune to the blizzard, this is super helpful!!
More effective way is to use centipede corpse and cuddle with them. They will absorb all the cold from your body due to them being resistant to cold. (Not sure if they have fix this)
rivulet is not just faster, they also get a very strong backflip that can get you out of bad situations, plus it makes fighting easier since you can easily backflip above your opponent and downthrow at them. also performing a slide-jump with rivulet can launch you as far as half a room or even further. when it comes to advanced movement tech, it is also easier to pole jump with rivulet as the time window that you need to click jump in is bigger wich also lets you pole-jump while being in a backflip state
If someone is not as good at backfliping, Rivulet also gets a lot of verticality by sliding into a wall and bouncing off it, it's useful for example in the big room right before Moon, no need for putting spears in the wall or going all the way around
Yeah I never got the hang of riv's fast pole climb because of the wierd timing and since riv is so fast anyway it wasn't really necessary, and the whiplash bounce also felt quite hard to execute, but backflips felt easier
Artificer can also maul by grabbing & holding grab. You can technically chain parry to maul just about anything to death Spearmaster can easily use spears to pay for scav tolls & trade, though they start at low rep and have an almost constant overseer, so be careful
Actually I’ve found they work a lot better than if you hold them in your hands. With a lantern in saint’s stomach you don’t have to worry about the cold until the end of the cycle. It’s very effective
great vid! I don't see too many easy to digest guides like these on youtube so I presume I'm not alone when I say that more would be more than welcome!
As arti, if you grab eggbugs, then you can just maul them, no stunning needed! Its not big but it helps sometimes. Also if you wanna pipe juke something then sometimes if you got guts then you can stay sort of in the pipe and when the lizard or noot mother pops out then they will pop out in front and you can spear them. I dont prefer this strat but its neat anyhow. Edit: Also if you are in submerged or shoreline as saint with the ascending ability then ascending plus water equals speed and you dont even get a breath meter.
Monk : Is the the one of the most stealthy Slugcats (probably the best). Survivor : Grab a white squidcada and starve, then do a flip and hold Jump while holding the squid. You're flying now. Hunter : As hunter unload the backspear then grab one in your hand. Perform the whiplash/sideflip move on another spear, you're now carrying 2 spears like spearmaster and eventually, you can carry a third using the backspear slot. Artificer : You can craft cherry bombs by swallowing a batnip or a lantern by swallowing a flashbang. The stun move can be performed while rolling or when triggering a slide. Gourmand : You can craft a grappling hook using a noodle egg and a beehive or goieduck. Rivulet : Is the only Slugcat that can pole hop during a flipping, pouncing or whiplashing motion. Spearmaster : When you're crafting a spear, you can walk around while holding grab, it will not reset the crafting but pause it. You can abuse this to have a third spear in preparation while carrying 2 items already, like hunter's backspear. Saint : You can toss a lantern or a fruit upward then grab the fruit mid air with your tongue to perform a double jump.
A tip that gets overlooked as rivulet: Since the cycles are so short, people don’t tend to seek kills as rivulet. However, EVERY SINGLE PEICE OF MOVEMENT TECH is extraordinarily buffed as rivulet (e.g backflips can send you to the moon). This means that you can quickly swipe anything in your path and shove them six feet under.
One time in my first gourm play through a scavenger threw a spear at me for whatever reason and it hit me in the head. I lived. Gourm has some serious health
also a few extra tips for staving off the cold in saint: holding a lantern in your stomach gives you extra hands while still keeping you warm, and can potentially be used to hold three lanterns at once bodies give off warmth, so befriending lizards and/or scavengers is often helpful. (ps- dead bodies also give off warmth, but only for a limited time) (pps- im pretty sure centipede corpses will warm you up super fast due to something i cant remember, probably something about the amount of segments they have. saint can partially consume a baby centipede to kill it, then use the body)
My tip for rivulet is to improve the swimming. Learn how to wiggle in between strokes with survivor, and then apply it to rivulet. It will provide faster speed than just holding a direction, and no boost means that it will not reduce your oxygen timer
My favourite little detail about Rivulet is how they can eat underwater. I just feels so good after struggle to stay above waves with other cats to eat, you just go a little deeper and enjoy your treat! It's also convinient to eat glowing fruits right where they grow
Here's an important tip for a spear master. He's light enough that the Squidcada lift him higher than anyone else, but that's not the most interesting thing. If, while holding on to a Squidcada, you do somersaults, you can literally fly, rising up. This will greatly help to quickly overcome the Wall or safely travel through the Sky Islands
quick tip: when playing arti, if you have to go through shaded citadel, you can make lanterns by swallowing a flashbang fruit. this isnt a tip but rather a question--during artificers campaign, do they actually give a tutorial on how to parry? i literally didn't know how until finally looking at the wiki page. similarly, is there any tip where it lets you know that flashbangs can be turned into lanterns by arti in-game? because i didnt know either of these things when i went through their campaign, making combat and shaded citadel EXTREMELY annoying
As with most rain world tech and information, almost none of it is actually told in game. People have just found it out through experimentation and shared it with people until it has become common knowledge.
thanks for the replies, i thought i was going crazy. i figured it might not be in the game but i was like "theres no way they wouldnt say anything about something that major.... right?" 🫠
Some general tips: Gooieducks have worm grass repellent properties, but they're weak so use 2. Artificer has more crafting recipes than grenades and 'splody spears. She can make flashbangs from lanterns and cherrybushes from batnip Electric spears can be pulled out from the wall by any slugcat, useful for climbing Spearmaster starts at a low enough scavenger rep that they will be killed on sight, so I would keep away from scavs early game, tho they can summon infinite spears for infinite trading fodder. Outside of a nuke, jellyfish are the most useful combat item in conjunction with spears, because they can stun a lot of creatures for a long period of time(although since downpour electric spears can be used with the same effect)
A tip for rivulet, do not stop to fight things, you do not have the time and it really isn't worth it. Just simply hold the left or right button and sprint away, a full speed rivulet cannot be grabbed or bitten.
The most annoying minor detail about any slugcat is just how fragile Saint is. If you are just bumped into by a squidcada, you are weakened and lose control of your tongue randomly, and if you are stunned, you will lose control for forever, while your body is violently shaking and jumping around. And if anything stuns you into water or underwater, you drown instantly! This makes snails and jellyfish deadly, you have to avoid them as much as you can. And if you want to tame a strawberry lizard as saint, you must kill batflies by biting a piece of them, because unlike any other slugcat they will stay alive forever if you just grab them. I guess saint has soft and gentle hands
awesome summary! i love how each bit of tech was paired with the *context* in which it's best to use them. that kind of thing is often too hard to squeeze in for longer guides. only wish that some basic swimming mechanics were covered, since drainage and shoreline are such big roadblocks in a first playthrough... like "don't spam jump no matter what" unless rivulet, or one that helped me understand the side to side motion for faster swimming in the beginning: think of it like using your tail to push extra hard through the water. many of my friends would spam/hold down inputs that didn't need to be (or absolutely shouldn't be) as habits from other games, and it tripped them up quite a lot until we finally figured out the problem.
Btw you can avoid enemies in rain world, if you fall or jump and then land you will make noise that puts a creature into search mode and will come to investigate the exact place where you made the noise. Plus, crouching should help you stay undetected near enemies.
Tip for gourmand: to kill most lizards you can slide at them and throw a spear after they flip over, as the slide is like a rock throw with more dmg to it. Tip for rivulet: the backflip on rivulet is a lot higher than you might think, you can use it to go up a lot of things quicker, although rivulets rolls are rather slow as it's the same speed as others. Tip for artificer: Don't sleep on the grenades unless you think it makes it too easy, they're the strongest weapon against scavengers, especially with how many artificer can just print out of nowhere, also try to not waste time killing scavengers as they just endlessly pile up from everywhere. General tips: slide jumping into a roll is one of the fastest ways to get around flat ground, you can infinetly chain the roll if you jump late enough as rolls jump higher the longer you roll. If you can get the hang of it storing turn boosts is very powerful, it allows you to backflip off of poles, you can do it easily by grabbing onto a pole immediately as you turn to get the turn boost, also works by sliding immediately after getting a turn boost for a quicker setup, and you can jump out of the slide without losing the turn. (The turn doesn't go away until you hit the ground, or jump on a pole in a stance with only your feet on it.)
Two tips for all slugcats. 1. Learn to stand up, especially on controller. I see this a lot in newer players, especially my friends. A lot of the movement you end up doing in Rain world will usually put you in a crouch by the end. Exiting pipes, for example. On controller, you probably won’t be holding a direction exactly, and usually that direction is down. Learn to do more up left or up right, because you standing up in time can be a game changer. 2. Holding up when doing parkour, ESPECIALLY if there’s a death pit. This is a general thing, but once again I see this mistake a lot. You will ALWAYS grab a pole if your holding up, ALWAYS (unless your in anti-grav, dont really know how that one works). Holding up is a great thing to learn when doing parkour, especially in a high stakes situation like in the shaded citadel entrance to shoreline. Those were my tips, hope they’re helpful.
This is true now that you mention it. With keyboard it's really easy to always be holding up - but I imagine it's a bit harder if you're using the dpad / the analog stick
For new players, popcorn plants give infinite-ish food, idk the limit, so u can regurgitate and eat popcorn plants to regain it until u have the supplies you want.
Rivulet: When running rivulet is immune to being grabbed by daddy long legs. Spearmaster: The bone spears can be traded with scavengers meaning you can get chieftain easily and also pass all scavenger tolls basically for free (Massive spoiler warning for the next tip) Saint: The game never tells you this but saint can use his ascension ability at karma 10 in all campaigns when doing co-op, it's not something that's exclusive to saint's campaign.
_ALWAYS_ keep a spare lantern in your stomach on Saint. You won't need to store neurons in your belly to bring to Moon for anything really, so you don't have to save the space for much else. And if you happen to lose your main lantern by accident, be it a scav stole it, you dropped it in a bottomless pit or just lost it because you dropped it somewhere and are forgetful, you won't suffer because you have no lantern. Rivulet becomes a GOD TIER slug for Expedition mode when combined with Arti's rocket jump. You can clear so many jumps and skip certain sections of the map. This, combined with Rivulet's massive breath holding time underwater turns it into an all terrain vehicle with maximum capacity for NYOOOOOOOOOOM.
Making the nuke is inconvenient and that makes it feel too good to use; it always feels like there'll be a better time to use it, so it rarely actually gets used. It's awesome, but impractical.
@@bionicleapple1254 I used the spore puffs Gourm can craft for a lot cheaper for that part of the food quest. Made two, chucked them and ran until the red centipede died from the poison.
With Spearmaster, you have infinite spears. Again, duh. But this also means that you have INFINITE MONEY! (trading value) Spears are worth 2 trading value. Want to pass a scav toll but don't have any pearls? Just give the scavs about 5 spears and they should let you through. You can also easily increase your rep with scavs by just giving them a bunch of spears.
They might attack you on sight because I think you start with -45 reputation with spearmaster but it is possible to raise reputation with the Scavs to around neutral and higher.
I have a sort of tip for Rivulet. Like the survivor backflip tip, if one is playinng the Rivulet campaign the backflip is much much more useful, because you can jump extremely high if you manage to hit a perfect backflip. Really good for getting blue pupas without wasting much time or grabbing onto high poles
Tip for saint: make friends with scavengers (or even get Chieftain passage) as early as possible. Friendly scavs are more likely to give you their lantern when traded with, and don’t murder you for existing near them (which is useful because they are everywhere). Also you can chill with one with a lantern if you don’t have anything to trade with. Friendly scavengers are also good for protection against lizards
Real true tips for gourmand is... 1.LEARN CRAFTS (very important) 2. Dont look for items (pick them only if u already see them) 3. if u need ingredients for ur craft, just spit it out 4. Rocks and food is really important for crafts. 5. Singularity bombs aren't very much worth to craft, as if u craft one, u will probably just carry it in ur belly thinking "i should keep it" and never use it from the moment u craft it (not mentioning its hard craft because u need karma flower).
Also, I noticed that for Saint staying on max warmth is much better than staying "warm enough". If the blizzard is already at full force and you really want to go grab those popcorn seeds outside, the best thing you can have is a warm spot with several lanterns or in a warm room, which can warm you up to full heat. A smaller portable warmth source, like a swallowed lantern, might be enough to keep you at full warmth until you actually go out of cover into a blizzard, but if you don't have full heat, it won't be enough to keep your temperature at more than three pips
for gourmand's food quest, the best way to get the red centipede is to craft spore puffs with a rock and a mushroom. gourmand can regurgitate items using food pips and mushrooms are one of the items on that list, so if you can't find a mushroom, you can try to regurgitate one
For some reason it's not consistent. I threw spore puff at red centipede it didn't kill it, but it did kill me. Only on 3rd attempt - it decided to die from spore
@@1God1Fury it doesn't kill it immediately, and it also depends how many spores actually hit the centipede. ideally you want the spores to cover as much of the centipede's body as possible
Here are MY tips for every downpour slugcat: Gourmand - have the crafting guide in a separate tab 24/7 Artificer - make all the explosives you want you can eat everything Rivulet - know where everything is or perish Spearmaster - get rid of your spears before sheltering Saint - the lantern is this campaign’s key item if you lose it you lose life
When a lizard is approaching you ( specifically on the ground), you can just backflip over them and throw a spear downward, which in expedition is called a spear pin. It’s harder to do on a ceiling though fyi. Also in Jolly co-op, if you play Spearmaster and Artificer you can create spears, and turn them explosive-hence infinite explosive spears. Also, it’s better to get to Five Pebbles by going through Industrial Complex, up to Chimney Canopy, then up the wall through the spot with the Pictures for all the Karmas. It’s easier because First of all, The Rot and/or The Exterior I Is really annoying because of Pole Plants, White lizards, Stationary Rot, and Daddy Long-Legs. Also if you’re trying to get to Journey’s End fast as Monk or Survivor, You can either go through these to paths ( and I recommend searching for the region maps because I had to learn the hard way): Outskirts, Farm Arrays, Subterranean, Sunken Pier, Then Outer Expanse ( and btw Journey’s End is basically either of them making it back to their home tree). You can also do Outskirts, Drainage System, Filtration System, Subterranean, Sunken Pier, then Outer Expanse. I also mentioned earlier that maps are helpful. If you’re ever confused on any region, one quick Google of The Rot for example is good, but for the sake of the game, at least try to figure it out the region, because me are easy to understand like Chimney Canopy, The Gutter, Industrial Complex, Etc. I didn’t use maps for like the entire game ( If we don’t include The Depths and Drainage😅) , and it made my experience so much better and more immersive. Wow this was long! Edit: Also Just so you know In Farm Arrays, Deer AI may bug out and they might do weird stuff, like completely stop moving when you ride them, and SOMEHOW GET STUCK IN WATER OR WORMGRASS. It’s also good to avoid Certain Regions like The Rot/ The Exterior ( accept for when you have to get the Rarefecation Cell from Five Pebbles as Rivulet), Shaded Citadel, and Memory Crypts. Ok, my big bigger than Nikkicado Avacado, bigger than Caseoh, BIGGER THAN LIZZO rant is finally over. You’re welcome btw:)
4:16 Fun fact you do NOT have to be moving to slide I recently found out all you must do is like he said hold down and jump and you will slide in whatever direction your character was facing
at the start of the saint campaign i made a lantern and put it in my stomach. every time i was inside or out of the active snow i gained heat and in short never had a heat problem
If you have vanilla cheats enabled in the remix settings you can carry a total of three spears as hunter. You have to be carrying one spear in your hand, none on your back. Slide towards a spear on the ground and whiplash, which should cause you to pick it up. Then, you can approach another spear, pick it up and it'll go on your back. You whiplash by initiating a slide and pressing jump and the direction you came from (while holding down i think)
@@1God1Fury yeah but they knew some people liked to abuse some glitches and i guess they decided to have an option to keep them in instead of removing it completely, which is nice
I randomly saw a comment and someone replied "SLUGCAT" Because it was in their pfp. Fast forward a bit, i search slugcat on yt. Find out theres a game. Add rainworld behind slugcat and now i'm here. How did i never know this existed i'm so ashamed of myself I NEED TO PLAY IT NOWWWW AND THANS FOR THIS VID EXPLAINING STUFF😭
I knew pretty much all of these. A tip for fighting scavengers and lizards: Always stay stealthy and catch them by surprise. And, use rocks to catch their attention and make them investigate things. The amount of white lizards i've sent down the bottomless pits in chimney canopy is absurd, and the amount of scavenger squads i've brutally murdered numbers in tens due to me being ready for them. Also, it is possible for you to grab spears right out of the hands of scavengers, even when they're about to throw them. I've used this to 1v3 most scavs since grabbing the spear straight from their hand combos straight into multikill since that scav will also probably have multiple other spears on them. Also, use rocks and drag things into pipes to isolate or simply remove them from a fight for a second.
something to add to what you said about gourmand: to my knowledge, throwing a spear *also* makes gourmand roll it just usually ends right after because you're probably not holding down when you throw a spear. oh, and in addition, gourmand's slide is much more powerful than usual and also deals 0.25 damage (rolling deals 1.0) and for rivulet, 1. backflip and slide are op; 2. I wish reduce screen shake actually reduced screen shake rather than completely disabling it
Gourmand's contact damage is heavily reduced when they are tired, and their roll length is reduced substantially. So while you can initiate a roll by throwing a spear it isn't advisable as the roll will be significantly weaker.
Becouse of the large amount of spears spearmaster can make you can give scavs them for reputation (just don't make it that high unless you want the passage because they can become annoying)
artificer can maul other creatures that are stunned and in combine with his explosion he can always damage other enemies, mind that a mauling will wear of the stun from the enemy so after the mawl quickly stun and maul again, this can be done around 4 5 times before explosion exhaustion will quick
With 3 lanterns as saint, you are immune to cold. When the blizzard starts, all creatures retreat, meaning a safe passage with all your lanterns. Keep one in you stomach and 2 in your hands.
Tip: Jellyfish are the best side weapon. If you hit something with a jellyfish, it spasms for ~10 seconds, meaning you can walk up and kill it with ease. For lizards, I think this pretty much disables their armored head as well, as I’ve never had a speak clank against a lizard stunned by a jelly.
Funfact: if you are in a fight and you (gourmand) gets tired try to quickly go and eat a random food item and it'll be subsided (food will energize gourmand)
Heres a tip for hunter that i discovered myself and i never heard anyone talk about it. Hunter can actually have 3 spears. To do this you must have exactly one spear and it cant be on your back, now do the firecracker on another spear. For the third spear, you can just pick it up normally and it will automatically go to your back. Congrats, you have now 3 spears, i hope this gets some attention so maybe speedrunners use it or somethin.
am i the only one who does mid-crouch spears against lizard mouths rather than slide spears i find slide spears riskier bc you just. Slide into the lizard's mouth
Monk: High Reputation with Mob Survivor: How to Back-flip and plant Spears Hunter: Carry three spears Gourmand: Rollout Technique and its strength Artificer: Double Jump/Spark Jump Spearmaster: Spears vs Lizard Rivulet: Screen Shake Off for better experience (and Quality of Life) Saint: How to deal with Cold (5:41 Look at how cute Saint is)
Im not sure if this works like that, but i've heard you can carry your teammates in the Jolly CO-OP... so i was thinking, why not combo a Rivulet and a Gourmand? Since weight doesnt matter i think, the Gourmand will protect you, and the Rivulet will get your through water, going up poles faster, and overall.
I didn't know Gourmand could deflect spears, I thought they could just absorb a hit sometimes :0 good to know My Gourmand advice is to craft spore puffs (mushroom + rock), because they deal AOE damage to centipedes, spiders, and really any bug. Just one can kill a red centipede, though they can take some time to die so make sure you're out of the way.
No one remembers that you can bounce on horizontal poles, the timing is a bit rough but it makes horizontal pole movement faster and you can even outrun angry pink lizards
I did actually know these tips! Let me give you one for Hunter! Hunter, can hold three spears. To do this, you must do a whiplash while having a spear in your hand and no spear on your back. To do a Whiplash, you must slide (Down and Jump while walking) and when you reach your spear, you quickly hit the opposite direction you are moving, and hit jump. You should see a few line effects burst from the spot the spear was in and yourself. As well as you will backflip away from the spot. When you land, Hunter should be dual wielding like Spear master, and can still store another spear on his back! Allowing you to hold three spears at once. (I am unsure if this needs the speed runner glitches checked in Remix options. I always have them on anyways)
Saint has a hard time befriending scavengers due to the fact that you can’t help them fight predators. I’d say, if you see scavengers fighting, and they can’t see you, stay hidden, so they won’t get upset at your perceived betrayal. Also, even if it seems quicker, I wouldn’t recommend skipping tolls, as the scavengers can be good allies, for many reasons. They have lanterns to keep you warm, explosives and powder-weed to defend yourself, and will defend you from predators, if they like you enough. Also, artificer is able to pull the mask of a vulture off, by mauling the head. This is useful for keeping lizards away when in a scuffle with scavengers. If you’re alright with modding, I’d recommend the shiny shield mask mod, so that you can free a hand by wearing your mask.
Actually I think the most useful tip for Gourmand is knowing how to make pearls, because it makes him the slugcat who can befriend Scavs the easiest. Pearls are actually very easy to create. You just need to know how to make grenades, and then combine then with rocks to get free pearls. Rock + Firecracker plant = Grenade Bomb + Grenade = Pearl And if you can't find a firecracker planet, Rock + Batnip = Firecracker plant. Oftentimes, scavs will carry grenades themselves, so if you throw them a pearl, they'll probably drop it, and then you can use that grenade to make ANOTHER pearl for them.
If you put your lantern in your stomach, you pretty much don’t have to worry about the cold mechanism until the end of the cycle. It sounds weird but it’s true. It’s very useful to be able to have both hands free, in my opinion:) stay safe gamers
Iirc baby centipedes can warm Saint! It’s not exactly ideal, cause… you’re being shocked by a centipede, and Saint is frail and spasms from it, but it’s still useful!
Rivulet can pop bubble fruit without having to dip it in water. This is some very important information everyone needs to know

The clips of Gourmand rolling are hilarious, I love these single-braincell organisms
That implies that the inside of a slugcat's stomach is dry
Another few gourmand tips, from gourm's #1 fan (Probably)
- If you're trying to do the slam attack on creatures, but you find yourself sorta just harmlessly handing on them or missing by what seems like a pixel, try holding down as you fall. I don't know if this is intentional, or just some weird bug, but from my tests, this makes the slam hitbox MUCH more consistent and easy to connect
- It's really easy to befriend scavs and pass their tolls as Gourmand, thanks to his ability to easily craft pearls. All you need is to combine a cherry bomb with a rock to make a grenade, then combine that with another rock, and bam-- easy pearl.
- The roll mentioned in the video is very useful, but Gourmand's slide has all the same properties! The slide can be followed by a roll for e x t r e m e mobility, or used for combat in situations where you don't have the height or space to build up momentum for a roll
- Combine a grenade with a karma flower, then combine what you get with a second grenade or karma flower. Have fun with the result!
wait i didnt know that!! that tip about falling is super useful actually i can never get it to work!!
You will still freeze, just a lot slower
They DID clarify that they only did this to get enough food to hibernate^^ Even if it doesn’t make you completely immune to the blizzard, this is super helpful!!
More effective way is to use centipede corpse and cuddle with them. They will absorb all the cold from your body due to them being resistant to cold. (Not sure if they have fix this)
Wait a second, how'd artificer know who saint is? And how did they know that it would get cold by the time saint came around?🤔
rivulet is not just faster, they also get a very strong backflip that can get you out of bad situations, plus it makes fighting easier since you can easily backflip above your opponent and downthrow at them. also performing a slide-jump with rivulet can launch you as far as half a room or even further.
when it comes to advanced movement tech, it is also easier to pole jump with rivulet as the time window that you need to click jump in is bigger wich also lets you pole-jump while being in a backflip state
If someone is not as good at backfliping, Rivulet also gets a lot of verticality by sliding into a wall and bouncing off it, it's useful for example in the big room right before Moon, no need for putting spears in the wall or going all the way around
Yeah I never got the hang of riv's fast pole climb because of the wierd timing and since riv is so fast anyway it wasn't really necessary, and the whiplash bounce also felt quite hard to execute, but backflips felt easier
Rivulet has also been the easiest to wall jump with, even with walls that are further apart.
@@Sepi-chu_loves_mothsi still cant fast pole climb as riv
Artificer can also maul by grabbing & holding grab. You can technically chain parry to maul just about anything to death
Spearmaster can easily use spears to pay for scav tolls & trade, though they start at low rep and have an almost constant overseer, so be careful
Not exactly on the topic, but for I imagined Artificer and Scav King having a fight akin to the final boss of Pizza Tower.
Fun Fact! you can hold lanterns in your stomach as saint and they still heat as normal!

A tip that gets overlooked as rivulet:
Since the cycles are so short, people don’t tend to seek kills as rivulet. However, EVERY SINGLE PEICE OF MOVEMENT TECH is extraordinarily buffed as rivulet (e.g backflips can send you to the moon). This means that you can quickly swipe anything in your path and shove them six feet under.
I have very important tip! Gourmand has thickskin and tends to have a higher likelihood of not dieing when a lizard bites them.
They also have a chance of surviving spears from scavs or other players
Gourmand has 100% chance of not dying unless it's a red lizard bite, if you get bit by a red lizard then it's instant death even as gourmand.
One time in my first gourm play through a scavenger threw a spear at me for whatever reason and it hit me in the head. I lived. Gourm has some serious health
@@hybridanimus6412 he is filled with determination
also a few extra tips for staving off the cold in saint:
holding a lantern in your stomach gives you extra hands while still keeping you warm, and can potentially be used to hold three lanterns at once
bodies give off warmth, so befriending lizards and/or scavengers is often helpful.
This will greatly help to quickly overcome the Wall or safely travel through the Sky Islands
quick tip: when playing arti, if you have to go through shaded citadel, you can make lanterns by swallowing a flashbang fruit.
this isnt a tip but rather a question--during artificers campaign, do they actually give a tutorial on how to parry? i literally didn't know how until finally looking at the wiki page. similarly, is there any tip where it lets you know that flashbangs can be turned into lanterns by arti in-game? because i didnt know either of these things when i went through their campaign, making combat and shaded citadel EXTREMELY annoying
no, i only learned about the parry once i was searching for ways to kill the final boss
You can also make firecracker plants with batnip, but it's pretty much useless.
As with most rain world tech and information, almost none of it is actually told in game. People have just found it out through experimentation and shared it with people until it has become common knowledge.
thanks for the replies, i thought i was going crazy. i figured it might not be in the game but i was like "theres no way they wouldnt say anything about something that major.... right?" 🫠
@@purrlutorain world be rain world 😔
The best tip for all scug, movement tech ))
Some general tips:
Gooieducks have worm grass repellent properties, but they're weak so use 2.
Artificer has more crafting recipes than grenades and 'splody spears. She can make flashbangs from lanterns and cherrybushes from batnip
Electric spears can be pulled out from the wall by any slugcat, useful for climbing
Spearmaster starts at a low enough scavenger rep that they will be killed on sight, so I would keep away from scavs early game, tho they can summon infinite spears for infinite trading fodder.
Spearmaster can use squidcadas to become a helicopter and fly upwards
Rivulet: When running rivulet is immune to being grabbed by daddy long legs.
Spearmaster: The bone spears can be traded with scavengers meaning you can get chieftain easily and also pass all scavenger tolls basically for free
(Massive spoiler warning for the next tip)
Saint: The game never tells you this but saint can use his ascension ability at karma 10 in all campaigns when doing co-op, it's not something that's exclusive to saint's campaign.
As Rivulet, you also get a lot of verticality by sliding into wall and pressing jump
Honestly excepted you to mention that gourmand can deploy a tactical nuke
Making the nuke is inconvenient and that makes it feel too good to use; it always feels like there'll be a better time to use it, so it rarely actually gets used. It's awesome, but impractical.
@@Vakothu I only saved them for daddy long legs usually, but honestly i used just the normal bomb and spore puff recipes wayy more often
@@Vakothu I used the nuke to kill a red centipede for the food quest
Rivulet's unique abilities are _speed_ and the backflip to end all backflips.
Real true tips for gourmand is...
1.LEARN CRAFTS (very important)
2. Dont look for items (pick them only if u already see them)
3. if u need ingredients for ur craft, just spit it out
Also tick on the visual breath meter for rivulet
As a saint, you can have lantern in your stomach and it still be same effective as in hand.
for gourmand's food quest, the best way to get the red centipede is to craft spore puffs with a rock and a mushroom. gourmand can regurgitate items using food pips and mushrooms are one of the items on that list, so if you can't find a mushroom, you can try to regurgitate one
@@captainmaws oh, didn't knew that
Here are MY tips for every downpour slugcat:
Gourmand - have the crafting guide in a separate tab 24/7
Artificer - make all the explosives you want you can eat everything
Rivulet - know where everything is or perish
Spearmaster - get rid of your spears before sheltering
Saint - the lantern is this campaign’s key item if you lose it you lose life
Why remove spears?
yea so for that monk one.. i may have immediately gotten dragon slayer cuz i didnt know of taming or the naturally high reputation
It’s also good to avoid Certain Regions like The Rot/ The Exterior ( accept for when you have to get the Rarefecation Cell from Five Pebbles as Rivulet), Shaded Citadel, and Memory Crypts.

at the start of the saint campaign i made a lantern and put it in my stomach. every time i was inside or out of the active snow i gained heat and in short never had a heat problem
You whiplash by initiating a slide and pressing jump and the direction you came from (while holding down i think)
oh, so it is cheat. I thought it was some wacky exploit, but fact you need to enable cheats makes it even worse
@@1God1Fury yeah but they knew some people liked to abuse some glitches and i guess they decided to have an option to keep them in instead of removing it completely, which is nice

Also, use rocks and drag things into pipes to isolate or simply remove them from a fight for a second.
something to add to what you said about gourmand: to my knowledge, throwing a spear *also* makes gourmand roll
it just usually ends right after because you're probably not holding down when you throw a spear.
oh, and in addition, gourmand's slide is much more powerful than usual and also deals 0.25 damage (rolling deals 1.0)
and for rivulet, 1. backflip and slide are op; 2.
@@You-fools the damage is not reduced
Becouse of the large amount of spears spearmaster can make you can give scavs them for reputation (just don't make it that high unless you want the passage because they can become annoying)

Holy crap, I didnt know about Artificer's actual parry move! So much suffering in her campaign could've been avoided!
artificer can maul other creatures that are stunned and in combine with his explosion he can always damage other enemies, mind that a mauling will wear of the stun from the enemy so after the mawl quickly stun and maul again, this can be done around 4 5 times before explosion exhaustion will quick
With 3 lanterns as saint, you are immune to cold. When the blizzard starts, all creatures retreat, meaning a safe passage with all your lanterns. Keep one in you stomach and 2 in your hands.
I just started and the vulters made me very surprised
You should make a more advanced version that includes hunter holding 3 spears
The roll is initiated from a fall higher than survivor and monk jump. Rivulet can thus roll whenever they want
Really helpful!

i find slide spears riskier bc you just. Slide into the lizard's mouth

Gourmand: Rollout Technique and its strength
Artificer: Double Jump/Spark Jump
Spearmaster: Spears vs Lizard
Rivulet: Screen Shake Off for better experience (and Quality of Life)
Saint: How to deal with Cold (5:41 Look at how cute Saint is)
Im not sure if this works like that, but i've heard you can carry your teammates in the Jolly CO-OP... so i was thinking, why not combo a Rivulet and a Gourmand? Since weight doesnt matter i think, the Gourmand will protect you, and the Rivulet will get your through water, going up poles faster, and overall.
I didn't know Gourmand could deflect spears, I thought they could just absorb a hit sometimes :0 good to know
My Gourmand advice is to craft spore puffs (mushroom + rock), because they deal AOE damage to centipedes, spiders, and really any bug. Just one can kill a red centipede, though they can take some time to die so make sure you're out of the way.
i have completed every campaign without even knowing i could roll until now
Thanks!
0:43 slugcat flip!!!1111!
No, you can't do it normally. Some commenter explained that you need cheats enabled in rain world remix, which is big No, No for me.
I played loooong before Remix was a thing, and it was always a dumb minor quirk I enjoyed. I rarely do any of the other speedster options anyway.
The only thing I did not know yet is that Artificer's explosive jump counts as a backflip.
when just got in depths and u have a tamed lizard, kill it if u don't u cant ascend. (tip for any campaign that ascends)
I only didnt knew one tip from monk, hunter and artificer (artificer cuz i dont like violence! I dont play as arti at all)
First time I have already known all of these
Actually I think the most useful tip for Gourmand is knowing how to make pearls, because it makes him the slugcat who can befriend Scavs the easiest.
Pearls are actually very easy to create. You just need to know how to make grenades, and then combine then with rocks to get free pearls.
Rock + Firecracker plant = Grenade
Bomb + Grenade = Pearl
And if you can't find a firecracker planet, Rock + Batnip = Firecracker plant.
Oftentimes, scavs will carry grenades themselves, so if you throw them a pearl, they'll probably drop it, and then you can use that grenade to make ANOTHER pearl for them.
any alive creatures act as a heat source in saints campaign
If you put your lantern in your stomach, you pretty much don’t have to worry about the cold mechanism until the end of the cycle. It sounds weird but it’s true. It’s very useful to be able to have both hands free, in my opinion:) stay safe gamers
as saint if you backflip and lick a roof and let go youll do a sick trick
I didn’t know that gourmand’s roll could deflect spears!
Iirc baby centipedes can warm Saint! It’s not exactly ideal, cause… you’re being shocked by a centipede, and Saint is frail and spasms from it, but it’s still useful!
thnxs for the tip(s)! i managed to kill 2 king vultures and 2 normal ones!
hunter can hold three spears with movement tech
As the monk it you a grabbed by a caramel lizard and a scavenger throws their spear at the caramel lizard it will always kill you
Be careful
