When they left power they had sold the country's gold reserve a reserve that had been built over centuries for $250 an ounce, they added an extra aircraft carrier onto a Scottish shipyard via an unbreakable contract, they had tied the NHS into off balance sheet PFI contracts that are still being paid for now even as Labour accuse the Tories of wasting NHS money. They ran the economy under austerity which then turned into a global pandemic. My business is software development of high end information management systems for many corporate companies both in UK and worldwide. Moving the business and staff is not an issue. We will see what happens if Labour are the next government and what they do with corporation tax and tax on shareholders dividends. If labour work as they usually do then we will move our office and staff (many want to move with us too) within six months of the labour government tax reforms,that amounts to theft from businesses that strips businesses of their working investment capital. I won't be the only business to move, that's for sure.
We should end this bizarre economic approach of cutting taxes when the economy is doing well and raising taxes when the economy is not. Taxes should be cut now to stimulate growth and held or even raised when the economy has improved. There is a basic flaw with the governments current approach, we cannot get a faster growing economy whilst raising taxes so it’s counterproductive. We need to stimulate growth now to get us in a position where we can focus on deficit reduction, otherwise we are going to be trapped in this low growth high tax cycle relying on the global economy improving enough to drag us out.
