I loved this tutorial! I am definitely going to try making my own when I start up woodworking. In the video, you mentioned that you wish the bottom panel was lower so there would be more storage space + that the middle panel needed to be cut down to fit behind the door. What if you swapped the positions of the panels so that the middle panel will now be fitted at the bottom of the nightstand, and the bottom panel which already fits behind the door will now be a shelf in the middle? The main problem would be that the back thin panel would have to be replaced with a longer piece now that you have that room. But otherwise, logistically would this address the issue of having to find extra wood pieces to screw the legs in to be level with the nightstand + create a bit more storage?
