What a challenge, and how difficult, to take such an ancient hymn, with such solemnity attached to it, add percussion, slide guitar and a modern feel and still retain the sacredness and worship value - thank you, this was great!
One of my favorite Catholic Hymns for Holy Week. Thank you Lord Jesus for your death😓❤️🙏🙏🙏
I play and sing this song all the time; however, I always tear up on the last part, Lord, never, never, let me outlive my love for thee! Thank you for posting this great beautiful that should be sung by everyone who loves Jesus.
O sacred head now wounded
With grief and shame waighed down
Now scornfully surrounded
With thorns thine only crown
How pale Thou art with anguish
With sore abuse and scorn
How does that visage languish
Which once was bright as morn
What thou, my Lord, hast suffered
Was all for sinners' gain
Oh mine was the transgression
But thine the deadly pain
Lo, here I fall, my Savior
'Tis I deserve thy place
Look on me with thy favor
Vouchsafe to me thy grace
# Instrumental
What language shall I borrow
To thank thee, dearest Friend
For this, thy dying sorrow
Thy pity without end?
Oh, make me thine forever
And should I fainting be
Lord, let me never, never
Outlive my love to thee
Thankyou for Lyrics
I am not my own; I was bought with a price. - 1 Cor. 6:19-20
Love this!
I've never heard this hymn before today, thank you for sharing.
Thank you! That was beautiful!!
That harmonic move at 2:40 is awesome. It's amazing what an effect you can get with such a simple change.
I echo Christopher's statement (see below). This is so appropriate for Easter. Every performer is spot on.
The vocalist nails it. The keyboard is full sounding and heartfelt, the bass and drums provide a very solid foundation.
and the Telecaster slide guitar with P90 pickups gives it an atmospheric ambient quality--it sings. Happy Easter.
Thank you so much. One of my favorite hymns soulfully rendered.
Am really blessed with the sound
Thanks that's a beautiful song and God Bless your music!!✌🇺🇸
