Thank you for these videos. I just got my Oxi and am learning it, and your videos are a great help. I like how you handle a single topic in this video, that keeps it more understandable and focused.
Glad to help! Thx for watching 😊
So many options .. so little time .. thanks for the quick yet comprehensive summary of this little beauty.. cheers!
😊
Appreciate the message of keeping it simple when we have a beast of a sequencer with so many options.
Absolutely- otherwise it can get too busy!
@@LiamKillen i want some yeyo of yours
Bruh I was just searching the nord pad earlier today, crazy how u came out with a video today
The algorithm knoowwsss
Same i only found your channel recently and started looking up the Nord Drum today. Its spooky
Oxi and the Roland SH4D is just tons of fun
Killer combo 😏
Great video! I think the ND3p shines when you approach it like a synth. If you get a blank drum sound and use the analog wave types a1-a6, pitch them lower 24-36, dial in the bend and add some distortion it really opens up. Presets are dated for sure, but it can get incredibly aggressive and modern sounding.
I see the presets as starting points to craft your own sounds. They sre like a showroom and a tutorial. It’s a rare tool where I can pick a preset and quickly mold it to my liking so quickly and by the time I’ve saved the kit, it’s my own sound. The only thing comparable perhaps better in some ways are elektron’s drum synth models.
@@xxjoshbrownxx Same! I like to use the snare presets because I am bad at dialing them in from scratch. Honestly, I almost always start with the preset sd3 and work from that. I think it is a tr-808 style snare.
Ill def be looking further into this
The Nord drum 3p is by far my favorite piece of gear. I keep hearing the oxi one is amazing but to me the Nord is the real star.
They’re both great! The combo is 🔥
I just got the Torso T-1 and i'm loving it. This is pretty tempting though
This is the t-1 on steroids
I can feel the bass drum on my phone speakers more than I can hear it on my earbuds. 😊 Next step on your Nord journey is to get a vintage Nord Modular - there would be a world of possibilities with a sequencer like the Oxi.
Def something to consider 😏
@@LiamKillen full disclosure I may have an extra NM1 keys to trade maybe if you are ever interested 😛
Congratulations. Another great video. I noticed that every now and then a beat gets lost. Especially when are all four Chanels busy. Have you had similar experiences?
It could be just through the editing of the video - I skipped over parts to make it digestible !

People are still breaking clubs with 808 drums, and he said the 3P is “old school”
😂
It def has a more old school sound that’s for sure!
There are a lot of 808 sounding drums on the 3P actually……
@@LiamKillen oh you want me out of my space too?
I’ve only just received my Oxi One and had been wondering whether to use it with my Drumlogue, or just stick with the Drumlogue’s own sequencing and leave the Oxi for melodic stuff. (Sometimes it seems a bit wasteful to ignore a whole load of a device’s interface/functions and just control it externally?) This has persuaded me - Oxi for everything :-) Great video as always.
Oh the OXI’s sequencer is soooo much stronger then the drumlogue
Great video. I’ve not been able to use my oxi1 because I’m just having a mental block about how to use and what to do with it. How do I integrate this into a set up? Is it only for live performances or do I write songs with it? I’m just so lost. I’m having extreme problems understanding the basics of this unit. I get the generative features it’s the basic use I’m not grasping. Please help.
Yeah that's the age old question - how to create a ful song with a sequencer ? Sequencers go hand in hand with electronic music like house / techno and there's a reason why the "traditional" stuff is so repetitive - because that's sort of he language of a sequencer. So I would just focus on how to use it in a basic way to create loops to begin with - no need to get overwhelmed with creating a full "song" with like an A-B section + Bridge ect.
Also, not sure if you're already in the Discord - it's hard to keep track, but this would be a goodo ne to bring up with the community - here's an invite link : discord.gg/xj8J2xJuBP
Love my Oxi! Any recommendations for a portable drum module that can match the Nord's versatility in the video and pair well with the Oxi? I don't need drum pads, so I'm looking for something compact and affordable.
TR-6S 😏 here's a video on why it's dope: ruclips.net/video/ibaWpyekpJA/видео.htmlsi=lLoAgpHXBsZ6PYC9
@@LiamKillen Sweet, thank you!
DOn't get fooled by this video NodrDrum3 can go really hard with Drums especially for Techno, if you deep dive in designing your sounds.
I guess I got some digging to do my guy
These are the initial sounds that came out of it- haven’t dialed in those hard Tekno sounds yet!
Yes. Nord drum goes hard
We didn’t even get into parameters on cc messages! Ready for the next video. 😶

I'm such a sucker for high build quality, and Nord's generally just look gorgeous. Those pads look designed to be played with drum sticks. Have you tried that?
I haven’t played with sticks quite yet which is ironic because I’m a drummer lol (who hasn’t played in 5 years)
The Nord Drum is build like a tank. For real.
And it feels good to play. How the machine reacts to velocity in different ways is amazing.
But i also love to let the sequencer play the north. Especially with the "music pattern generator" from Hisschemöller it can sound very organic and natural.
Great tool and it's free.
Drum sticks are for eating chinese food 😂
@@LiamKillenThere are some excellent drummers on RUclips using Nord Drum 3P, like my friend TOSKABYSS - I highly recommend his channel, by that name!
Food shmood - give me a beat
Been trying to midi sequence my Nord3p using the OP-1 but can’t assigning individual channels to each of the 6 channels on the nord. Any advice?
Oh man - forget about syncing with the OP-1 it's so annoying it's just not worth it IMHO.

I keep looking at this OXI Sequencer and I like it, but I’m not sure how different it is, ie, better than the Digitakt. Have you done a video on that, Digitakt v OXI?
It’s waaayyyyy more powerful than the Digitakt for sure !
I’ll consider doing a video- it’s just a different layout
Totally diff work flows and UI.
Oxi is a sequencer stand alone built for one purpose, to drive, Digitak is multipurpose and that's where its faults lie.
I am not saying it's bad, but it cannot compete with an 8 lane sequencer where you can add and remove notes in real time on all 8 lanes.
The best sequencer I have is the PE SEQ, it was abandoned, but it really is a thing of beauty for UI.
I also have a Pioneer SP16 which has 1 lane viewable at any time and this is not fun, trust me.
It's an excellent sampler, and the sequencer has P locks, just something that isn't fun is the inability to see it all at once.
I'm waiting for the 4p
😏
May I ask why you don't buy a pair of drum sticks and use the pads as intended?
You'd be surprised how better the groove feels with a human touch
Been there done that (used to be a drummer). But you're right, it is super fun haha. I'm just not there right now.
I wish Nord would make a Nord drum 4 in the same form factor as the 1or 2. No pads basically with trigger inputs per channel.
There’s a mini version of this one with no pads! 😊
@@LiamKillenyes some have sawn the pads off! But no the 3p is always with pads otherwise
Enough with the sequencers! When are we going to see you drumming? 😁
Not on this channel anytime soon im afraid !
If I had a spot to play at I totally would.
nice is cool you can use any drum module with midi
It’s such a fun set up!
I have a PE Play non + and used it with my Nord 3P.
All I can say is wow, I was able to do random P locks on panning, so in real time I had all this movement on otherwise a static machine, as you need to adjust the pan per instrument which is nigh impossible in real time unless you have a sequencer to do it.
SO I got the PE Play super cheap new, the Oxi was not available in my country then, now it is so I may just invest in 1 and still keep the PE Play.
The beauty is, as I am crushed for space, the PE Play fits perfectly on the 3Ps pads, so I wont lose any space if I get the Oxi (which I will).
The Oxi is an amazing kit, only trumped by the more expensive Hapax imo.
They're all good, I love my sequencers, everyone should have at least 1 powerful sequencer in their arsenal, and I don't mean by those shit MPCs that offer almost zero interface controls.
You need hands on real time manipulation, or stick with a DAW where you just watch it roll by.
Awesome! Thank you for this addition!!
Theres
Nothing weak about the 3p
Perhaps easier with an editor
I use mine with beat step pro and a moog sirin
The sounds are very specific.
the oxi gives me horrible gas. fun videos, the nord drum seems great!!
Get the Oxi one!! It’s the best
@@LiamKillen i'm currently using Drambo from one iPad to sequence 8 iPad AuV3s on a host iPad, but i want actual buttons to press and the routing options are *so good*
Actually the best is a squarp hapax....
@@anonymous_friend maybe for you. no battery and no bluetooth, kinda large footprint is a non-starter for the hapax for me. oxi is incredibly portable and fits in any setup.

The mannnn
I was trying to explain marticeal drum tracks to my roommates yesterday. Had to point their fingers for them. Don't think they ever got it.
Show them this video: ruclips.net/video/3lW56lTGphY/видео.htmlsi=zwi2Nk-2mdUp-5MH
If they can't learn with literal hands on experience, ain't no video gonna help. Maybe tomorrow...
Dancing aliens! Dancing aliens!!
The Nord Drum has nice, big, sensitive pads to drum on for performance and intuitive real-time note entry... but the onboard sounds are a bit weak. Seems a shame to use it for its sounds but not for its sensor pads.
The sounds are very specific, you’re right. Ironically I am also a drummer lol
I don't think they're weak at all - but that's also my opinion 😊
there are a lot of kit packs that are miles better than the factory presets. mine is full of stuff and a lot of it is really out there. there's even a kit that makes nature sounds and one that sounds like a sword fight
@@ukbloke28 ooh. Cool I like the sound of all that business!
@@ukbloke28can you link to these?
The Oxi is the biggest hardware disappoint in years to me tbh. If you want to play random cutie melodies it's okay but I you want to make complex, serious tracks with it, it's useless. I find it a bit uncool and misleading of the "synth fluencers" to hype that piece so much, as it is not cheap and imho promises something it is not. It might be okay for a beginner or hobbyist without musical background to play around with. At the price point of the Oxi you expect some pro gear, at least I did. Sorry for the rant but I had to write it. But I dig your channel in general, Liam!
Do You know other sequencer which can do more complex things compared to oxi one?
Hard disagree on this one obviously lol.
Good question - you should hang in my Discord lol - here's a link: discord.gg/xj8J2xJuBP
@@zoran68 I heard good things about the Orthogonal Devices ER-101 and the Sequentix Cirklon but they are hard to get and quite expensive...
