Very informative! Just want to add one thing. Advice from my friend who loves Jesus: 'show the person a scripture(s) so it is not you condemning the person but the issue becomes between God and the person.' However the most important thing is how you approach the person. You do it out of love. We trust God to transform the person as He is more than cable of doing so with love, patience, mercy and grace. Also His words never return void (Ish 55:11). Blessings!
1 John 1:8 (KJV) 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. No one "stopped sinning" in the flesh. If they did than they wouldn't die in the flesh because sin is what causes death. So these guys should say what do you tell a saved friend that is abusing the fact that they can't lose salvation? The answer is they will be chastises by God, a loving Father, in love via weakness, sickness and sleep (death of the flesh) if needed. Real Psalms 89:26-33 KJV.
bible4truth. John 2: 1 My little children, I write these to you, that ye sin not. And if any sin, we have an intercessor with the Father, Jesus Christ the just: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
John also said if God's seed abides in you, you cannot sin. The Lord commands us to be Holy and perfect. I stopped sinning long ago. My suggestion is do not keep the company of sinners including your own family members. If you want perfect peace and rest stay away from people who sin.
And who told you that those friends are saved? When one accepts Christ, one has to repent. And repent means to change your thinking. No one who has been born again will be a slave to sin.
Alot of good people have serious sin problems. None are wholly good but God but, help the weak and be patient with all men. A Spirit of gentleness. Get the dirt out of your eye 1st then go help your friends. Don't look down on others who have fallen into sin but reach down in love and be a savior to others like Jesus. Happy ressurection day folks
I know it's been awhile since you posted, but your question describes me. The only thing I know to do is keep trying. The fact that someone is trying shows that they are a believer. As the video said, your friend, and I, are taking steps.
My dad is in this situation, but he isn't really trying at all to stop. It has been going on for years, and yes he is in actual pain (degenerative disc disease) - but there is no fruit of the Holy Spirit from him... He believes in God and reads his Bible here and there, prays, but I'm just at a loss for how to help him. Prayer would be greatly appreciated. He is so lost...falling away from God even more as time goes on.
What’s the addiction and how did it begin? If it’s drug, that’s very easy to quit when surrounded by the right people. After that, I don’t believe in most other addictions, e.g., porn. If a man is “addicted” to porn, then it’s his wife’s duty to do everything to satisfy him in bed. Of course, prayer should be the foundation of everything.
This teaching was difficult for me... I agree with the verses (although some seem to be directed to church leadership and some to those who are sinned against personally), and the necessary loving and humble attitude we must always have. God alone transforms and he uses His word, circumstances and other people (through the Spriit) to do this. I would have liked the question about what sin is confrontable answered. All sin dishonours God...no? Should we treat as an unbeliever the Christian who 'knows' it's wrong to disobey the law, yet still drives agressively, speeds down the highway everyday, follows too close, flashes his lights? Despite loving rebukes from fellow Christians? Despite pointing out how it affects his witness to other drivers and passengers? I struggle with this issue of judgmental Christians...focussing on the sins of fellow believers. I think too often those actions DO hurt our witness to unbelievers....I might be wrong...I'll keep studying and praying :)
By the very end of Matthew 18, I take it you mean 'The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant'? This starts from verse 23-35. I notice before that, verses 15-22, Jesus makes a point of bringing up how things were dealt with under Law, to make a show of how we like to make a big deal of other people's sin and point them out before others in the 'ecclesia'. We like to see others punished, yet verses 23-35 show that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us. So many of the cults do not see what is the meaning of Jesus's way of speaking. He loved to highlight the behaviour of the Pharisees of that time and now.
I am a Christian women my husband is a Christian man he has left me about 7 months ago he has a other woman in his life and he still goes to church the pastor knows about it but the pastor said there is nothing he can do about it I have two children to him and we are still married to each other I don't go to church where my husband's go's to i go to other church
"And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds." ~ 2 Corinthians 11:12-15
Why do you preach a gospel other than godliness? If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 1 Timothy 6:3-4 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Titus 3:10 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 2 Timothy 3:5
A person keeps on sinning because they love sin and they hate god. They may say they believe in god and call themselves a christian but in reality they don't care about nothing put self pleasure...and they also don't want to hear what comes out of a god fearing person's mouth but rather hear what comes out of a sinner's mouth period.

What do you do if the sinning person is your son or daughter, claims to be a Christian and refuses to stop sinning? Do you separate yourself?
how would you approach a believer with an addiction, knowing he has been trying to quit but keeps on failing.

Kevin Lee Johnson Hey Kevin. Not sure I understand your question. Can you clarify please?
What about a friend that is in a relationship with the wrong person?
