How nice to see a council support a local event with road closures and being allowed to run through the city Centre most encouraging in these difficult times. Well done John on a good run and video and let’s hope events like these encourage youngsters into a sport instead of looking for trouble. Brilliant to see tradition return.
Lovely to hear the history behind the event and your story too John. Lots of events come and go but few stand the test of time. Looked really well supported and a much loved race 😊
From a local interest and passion perspective that’s probably one of your best videos. I personally really enjoyed the run on Sunday and always great to see some familiar faces both live on the day and now. I couldn’t pick a single fault with the day and everything went smoothly. The Ackworth runner you mention was ‘Dave Hughes’ who went with me to my 3rd ever different parkrun (York) back in 2013, fantastic runner and a successful finisher of the Bob Graham round. 😁
Absolutely brilliant John, really enjoyed hearing about the history of the race & all about Barnsley itself. Great time on what looks like an undulating course, well done ✅ 👍
Great to learn more about this race, I had no idea about its significance in the history of British road running. Looks like a nice course as well, congrats John for taking part again!
Good running, great vid thank you 🙂. I am doing GN 10k on Sunday, would love to see Dawn there but I will be in the slow wave! I would kill for anything under 55 minutes haha
Another great video, thanks for the shoutout John. Was great to have the 10k back in Barnsley, absolutely loved it. Hopefully that's the catalyst to get myself fully motivated and back running regularly. Been a struggle for the first half of 2024, picking up injuries, now trying to get bak. Great to see you both running well John and Dawn. 👍👍💪💪
@@tworunningbrooms the first GNR race after was great for a change as it was an out and back through the city. 2021 I think it was, I'd prefer it to be like that more often, though maybe a slightly slower course, who knows
Water in a 10k wise. Depends on how I feel at the time. Sometimes I just say no Thankyou and go past. On Sunday I was ready for a wet as my mouth was dry. Didn’t have much and did offer to someone else who declined.
Barnsley has changed so much since the 80's 90's wow
It's changed jn the last 3 years. We were very pleasantly surprised how good the town was.

Yes and great it was a Barnsley organised event rather than a big company.

Yes hopefully it's hear to stay this time. I don't often get emotional about running. Neither does Gareth. But this day was an exception.

Thanks Lee. It was a great day and so happy to be part of it.
Awe, brilliant video! You've done the race proud. Really summed up the atmosphere
Thanks Lorraine
Barnsley where it all began! Great video 🎉
Bringing It All Back Home.
@@tworunningbrooms it’s coming home 🏆
Superb history lesson and account of the special day itself. Loved it.
Thanks John (and Dawn), the channel is maturing really well. JB
Thanks JB. And an especially well done on your extra guest appearance on camera during the final sprint 😉
Great vlog of a fantastic day for Barnsley 👍🏻
Hopefully the start of something that will last for several years

Thanks Kev. Maybe see you here next year?
Looked like an impressive event, well edited as always both 🎉🎉
Thanks Ryan. A super day.
Thanks for that you two. Good to know that this vlog will be on line for a long time.
Thanks Steve. We took part in history.

Thanks Chloe. It was good to highlight what's good about our local running scene.
Nice one, John. Looks a great race. Good time as well.
Thank you

We'll both be there around the 45 minute mark hopefully.
Great video John
The old Barnsley 6 was one of my races as a notts ac runner back in the day
I wish I'd been around then. They sound like great days.
It was a brilliant event. Fantastic organisation and amazing support
Agreed

Yes it inspires so many people in so many ways. Good luck with the comeback.
Solid effort that John, will prime you nicely for next weekends race 😃😃
Ah yes Newcastle following Barnsley's lead with a city centre race 😉

I tend to get a stitch if taking water at anything faster than marathon pace.
Brilliant 👏
Thank you
Good to see Barnsley town centre. I've never been there. The crowds were great. I hope they weren't affected by that earthquake 😅
Stabilisation sorted 😉. Put it in your calendar foe next year!
