Superb history lesson and account of the special day itself. Loved it.
Thanks John (and Dawn), the channel is maturing really well. JB

How nice to see a council support a local event with road closures and being allowed to run through the city Centre most encouraging in these difficult times.
Well done John on a good run and video and let’s hope events like these encourage youngsters into a sport instead of looking for trouble.
    Brilliant to see tradition return.

Yes and great it was a Barnsley organised event rather than a big company.

Lovely to hear the history behind the event and your story too John. Lots of events come and go but few stand the test of time. Looked really well supported and a much loved race 😊

Yes hopefully it's hear to stay this time. I don't often get emotional about running. Neither does Gareth. But this day was an exception.

From a local interest and passion perspective that’s probably one of your best videos. I personally really enjoyed the run on Sunday and always great to see some familiar faces both live on the day and now. I couldn’t pick a single fault with the day and everything went smoothly. The Ackworth runner you mention was ‘Dave Hughes’ who went with me to my 3rd ever different parkrun (York) back in 2013, fantastic runner and a successful finisher of the Bob Graham round. 😁

Another great video, thanks for the shoutout John. Was great to have the 10k back in Barnsley, absolutely loved it. Hopefully that's the catalyst to get myself fully motivated and back running regularly. Been a struggle for the first half of 2024, picking up injuries, now trying to get bak. Great to see you both running well John and Dawn. 👍👍💪💪

Absolutely brilliant John, really enjoyed hearing about the history of the race & all about Barnsley itself. Great time on what looks like an undulating course, well done ✅ 👍

Great to learn more about this race, I had no idea about its significance in the history of British road running. Looks like a nice course as well, congrats John for taking part again!

Good running, great vid thank you 🙂. I am doing GN 10k on Sunday, would love to see Dawn there but I will be in the slow wave! I would kill for anything under 55 minutes haha

Good to see Barnsley town centre. I've never been there. The crowds were great. I hope they weren't affected by that earthquake 😅

@@tworunningbrooms the first GNR race after was great for a change as it was an out and back through the city. 2021 I think it was, I'd prefer it to be like that more often, though maybe a slightly slower course, who knows

Water in a 10k wise. Depends on how I feel at the time. Sometimes I just say no Thankyou and go past. On Sunday I was ready for a wet as my mouth was dry. Didn’t have much and did offer to someone else who declined.

I tend to get a stitch if taking water at anything faster than marathon pace.
