Machakos could have been the capital of Kenya. I learn something new each time. Its great that Nairobi is getting good roads. They are long overdue and much needed. They do however cater for business and the middle class. I think there should be thought and planning put into mass transit systems. That should be the next step for Nairobi.
@@ezekielmburu3418 You clearly know that there're areas in Machakos near Mt. Kenya than any area in Kiambu. The weather could be cooler in Kiambu but it's false to state that Kiambu is nearer Mt. Kenya. Refer to your maps.
The Nairobi metropolitan services is on it. The train transit system is almost complete. Mini stations hve bn built to serve the city. New bus parks hve also been put in place. They wi start operations soon.
My personal opinion is that Kenya today is in the same place as Great Britain was in the 1830's. We had had the industrial revolution beginning in 1760 to about 1820-1840. Britain had changed from an agricultural country to a technical one. Kenya is going that way too. There were tremendous developments in the UK during that period. Kenya is changing beyond recognition. I do think thought needs to be given as was done in the UK in the 1830's to public spaces such as parks. I have had this conversation previously in 2018 when I noted people sitting on traffic roundabouts on Sundays purely because it was a green space. Attention needs to be given to public places and also the movement of people. Kenya has many unused railways that could be brought into use as mass transit systems. Attention needs to be given to that or Nairobi will just fill up with cars due to the new roads and you will be back to square one as far as congestion is concerned. I hope there are people with big and long term vision in charge of the planning.
Hi Clifford. My greatest concern for Kenya is that it may become a concrete jungle with no space or concern about the ordinary person. We all need green spaces to think and relax in. Parks were mandated in city planning in the UK in the 1830's at a time of great change in the country. At great cost, politically I might add. I see that Kenya is at a similar stage in development and these things need to be thought about.
Nairobi doesn’t have to follow London because with technology and after COVID-19 there will be no need for the traditional offices. Development is gonna have to look so different. What took Britain to achieve in 100 years might take some countries 10 years . That’s a fact in today’s world . Look at Dubai ten years ago and Dubai now! Quite a revelation. Just saying
