    Long time Peavey bass player. Best amps ever. Have a history of being first to market inventions for bass players and guitars. And reliabilities for these amps is unmatched!!

    Man I really dig this channel. The bassist spotlights, gear reviews, the new striped down/candid series thing, all of it. And that cat with the beard, he’s got some serious pocket. He would fit right in here, Inglewood Cali, the hood, the land where no good deed goes unpunished and folks respect the F Clef! So thanx and keep up the good work.
    I was trying to find an installment that didn’t include a paid promotion to ask this question, not that I mind a “paid promotion” cuz I’m a man that understands that one person’s insurgent is another person’s freedom fighter (if you are going to consume news in this country you’d do well to develop that skill).
    Firstly I think these Peavey combos sound really good, thank you for using/including passive basses for the demo(s). I’m loving the overdriven mode!
    O.K. It seems most companies have recognized the added value of including an aux in and headphone out with their offerings. The Pandemic has made this plain and I’m sure for many of us has raised it’s importance way above an afterthought when purchasing preamp pedals, combo amps and such.
    What I have been dismayed by is the lack of clarity, be it in ad copy or user manual regarding the functionality of these features.
    Specifically that if a stereo signal, when introduced into the aux in will remain a stereo signal in the headphones out.
    Simply put: is the aux-in summed mono? I understand the bass signal (absent any on board stereo effects) will be mono.
    I understand that stereo requires two discrete amps and will add to the cost (I’ll pay it). But it shouldn’t be so difficult to find out and I can’t be the only person this has occurred to.
    I mean who wants to work with a bunch of stems, create a dope beat or find a gloriously recorded drummer/backing track, stuff to jam to, work on just keep that bass under your fingers only to have it knee capped mono?
    We have stereoscopic hearing and learning to listen is 101 for any musician.
    I’m not going to name one ultra boutique example but I’ll say that I’ve been stunned and really glad I double checked before spending that kind of money. I had a company rep do a RUclips stereo test and they were surprised.
    I’m not sweating you guys or any reviewer. It shouldn’t be your job to think of this. But I’d appreciate the manufacturer recognizing that yes, we see the added value and it’s definitely a selling point. But we’re listening.
    Jeez that was a bit of a rant! sorry, E

      I guess it’s kept stereo for the headphone out internally, but of course the amp itself is mono, so the sound in the room will always be mono. Don’t be put off by that “paid promotion” thing. We’re required by law to display this, even if the video isn’t a paid promotion. But even if it is, I’ll always say what I think and rather lose a paying customer than a single viewer. I’ll always be honest in my videos

    • @emanuelbassist
      @emanuelbassist 3 года назад

      Oh thanx for the reply BTW, yes it’s understood that any sound, instrument or aux in will be mono when using the speaker(s). You’re correct in that I’m referring specifically to he headphone out.
      I’m not tripping on the paid promotion thing at all. You’re very honest in your reviews and you deserve to get paid. Folks that make gear know a good thing when they see it.
      I just didn’t want to put you on the spot with any particular product or manufacturer.
      It’s more of a general observation really.
      I’m really digging that Peavey 2 x 8 from the review, I mean I think the 1 x 15 sounds a tiny bit better but the form factor of the 2 x 8 is a better fit.
      You see I’ve been looking for an “all in one” solution for at home practice. Low volume in the speakers during the day and under headphones late at night. Something a significant other won’t hate having in the family room right?. I’ve got cables, power cords, pedals, a headphone amp, a little combo amp (it has aux/headphone but mono) not to mention a laptop or iPad. it’s a mess and a hassle LOL!
      Anyway the only way to know for sure is to put a stereo test into the aux in and listen in headphones while it does a left only/right only thing.
      Thank you again and keep up the good work!
      Be Safe, Manny

      Peavey has a lot of stuff that sounds awesome, from the old amps to the new ones.
      I still have a TMax from the 1990's and an all tube Vb3, that is built in 2005. Both heads are awesome and built like tanks.
      The Vb3 has a switching power supply and an output transformer what makes the 300 Watt all tube amp a mere 20 kg.

    Anyone have a ground issue? I've tried different outlets, different cables. I've plugged straight in & the ground doesn't help. I've used a DI box & the ground doesn't help. The amp sounds fine. I get the noise when I try to run it out front through our system. I set it in top of a Marshall cab for some height. Could this be an issue? Should it be on the floor? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Josh Swing Lozada I’m a big fan of small drivers for bass. When it comes to 8s, these aren’t my favorite. In terms of accessibility, the Trace elf cabs loaded with faitals are incredible. The peavey is a bit cheaper, I like the grey cab and rounded grille top. The peavey logo is also there....
      I want to spend some more time with these as my impressions based on limited play time could be in need of some tuning

    • @Joshyswing
      @Joshyswing 4 года назад

      TerriblePeril I haven’t tried the Trace Elf yet hit I’ll look into it. Trickfish Amps has an amazing 2x8. It’s interesting how the industry is shifting. 12” drivers were all the rage and now the 2x8 is starting to shake things up.

    Kool amps. I think I might get that 2x8. Now as for your demp bass player. Slide slide slide. Every video he's been in always sliding. It sucks. Learn more ways to begin and end your playing. Redundancies just get boring. Sorry, but it really is boring. Almost as if this guy can't play. We all know he can. But DAMN! Stop that beginner thing. Maybe it's just a European thing. Anyway. Off to get that amp now. . Get Frank It. Much better.
