This happened to my daughter and a teen. I let her go to a school skate party. I always picked her up a hour before PARTY'S ended. She called me right before I was about to leave and pick her up and they was shooting! Hearing them gun shots and kids screaming was the worst feeling in the world! It felt like I couldn't get there fast enough!!! Thank god she was ok!
You just have to train and prepare them for those situations and hope for the best☝️they gotta know what to do on their own. Let's just say you were outta town and you couldn't help them then what?

I grew up in the hood from birth to about 5th grade & was still going to school out there til abt 9th grade & my moms got her some money & put my ass in an all girls catholic highschool in the burbs . Lol I was so pissed I cried the first week of school & by 11th grade I had accomplished so many things. I joined the school choir we took a trip to Montreal in which I sang & came in 1st place. Amongst a million other great things. I’m so grateful for everything she’s done for me. I went to my nephew repass and soon after I was caught in a crossfire and was shot I had a calming feeling but I was able to call my mom before my cousin drove me to the hospital and the first thing I said to my mom was don't panic but I'm on my way to the hospital I've been shot and the screaming and yelling I heard from her is still with me. I'm thanking the Lord everyday to still be here to tell my story but like we've said we didn't have to worry about being shot just getting caught being out after curfew.

Just reading your comment brought tears to my eyes because the thought of having to go thru this, I have two sons 17 and 20 and they are really well behaved kids no trouble but you never know what someone else’s kid will do around yours, we didn’t have to worry about guns at no party back when we were doing that, we just worried about parents coming home lol shit sad

I went to my nephew repass and soon after I was caught in a crossfire and was shot I had a calming feeling but I was able to call my mom before my cousin drove me to the hospital and the first thing I said to my mom was don't panic but I'm on my way to the hospital I've been shot and the screaming and yelling I heard from her is still with me. I'm thanking the Lord everyday to still be here to tell my story but like we've said we didn't have to worry about being shot just getting caught being out after curfew.

I think it’s great as a parent that Tammy don’t take no mess. However she comes off so hard towards her daughter & I can see how that doesn’t offer a safe space. I also know Tammy was a single parent at one point, so she gotta be the main disciplinarian but sympathy goes a long way & charli’s frontal lobe isn’t even fully developed give the girl some grace. She loves her we all know but the attitude & always seeming mad at her doesn’t make that come across so clear

Don't get me wrong I was definitely somewhat Charlie lol I'm an adult now and my phone stay dead 🤣 but my husband and my mother will still be very upset if I call saying ppl are shooting where I am and they are unable to get to me quickly because my lack of precautions and then blame my mom for raising me in good conditions so I wasn't aware of how to properlyrespond. My mother would not appreciate hearing that at said time. And as a parent myself I wouldn't either. Don't blame me making sure you aren't exposed to this regularly to it being a disadvantage. I would have rather you say "well mama I feel like you didn't tell me what to do in case of an emergency like that happens. I didn't know because we never talked about it" not blaming our whole lifestyle on this lol

Listening and comprehension goes both ways! Times are different now. We just want our kids to be happy and safe! If they’re mature enough to understand and respect that, they will appreciate our method and maintain a healthy relationship with us. This situation is relatable and normal between mom and daughter. Especially a spoiled daughter.
I always say if it was mandatory for kids to actually grade their parents once they turned 21, a lot of these parents would be upset! Too many of them swear they did everything right, yet the whole time those kids were telling them listen to understand me and not just to respond. 🤷🏾♀️

But, like you said, I am the adult which means I am responsible for my kids well being. What ever actions they take will come with consequences and repercussions, good or bad. Until they are old enough to take care of themselves and handle their actions on their own, they will live by mom and dads rules!
